Re: UK CMA Places Further Restrictions On Microsoft And Activision Blizzard

TheElectroFunky

@Kaloudz I do agree, especially in the remarks of focusing more on other aspects of businesses within the industry. I think there’s a lot to be concerned with, the treatment of staff, the pricing structure, the selling of consoles based on at the time facts or “promises” as such, which at best are misleading, and at worst flat out lies manufactured to drive consumer sales.

I’m looking at you Watch Dogs EA fake gameplay!

So yeah, I think we can all agree, there’s a lot to get our teeth into industry wide. I mean I remember reading the gaming industry is worth more than the western film industry, yet it only receives a fraction of the criticism.

For the most part with the film industry people get what they believe they’re paying for. Yet the game industry doesn’t seem to play by the same rules. 8K gaming on every box, games released in unplayable states and without a connection are impossible to complete. All sorts of issues.

Then don’t get me started on refund policies being so hard to bend even now. It took some of these companies years to even establish more of any refund policies and practices.

Anyway, I’m rambling. Have a wonderful day!

Re: UK CMA Places Further Restrictions On Microsoft And Activision Blizzard

TheElectroFunky

@Kaloudz I’d say it’s more of a concern for if they do keep going down this route cloud gaming wise, they’re going to have a monopoly due to both their wealth, the fact even other cloud providers need their products (servers), to compete. Which means they can then charge say Sony for example whatever they wish to use cloud technology, which Sony then needs to compete.

It’s a very unique situation, it’s like my trying to compete with say Amazon and for my company I want to say sell or provide a service Amazon does, but then that very service or product required me to purchase something from Amazon to even try and compete.

If Microsoft becomes the one and only cloud gaming platform, yes due to crappy internet and crappy salaries for most globally, it won’t dominate anyone’s time at large now, but it’s about ensuring the future of gaming is fair, not just now.

So though I totally get your view and on some basis actually agree, I think the CMA just want to figure out how to go ahead making sure the future is clear, not just the present.

Yes cloud means next to nothing to the industry at large now, but it will, otherwise so many companies wouldn’t be spending so much money chomping at the bit to try and succeed in it.

So yes, I agree that it may seem very silly now, but I’m just as concerned as the CMA about potentially one company owning not only the best cloud services, but then to compete you ideally would need to then rent their Azure services too.

Basically Microsoft want a solution whereby many industries can’t function without their software, but this then creates an issue of you also can’t compete without using their software. I think that’s their angle. But who knows what the future will hold I guess!

Lovely reading stuff from you though, really like your takes on things. So thank you!

Re: UK CMA Places Further Restrictions On Microsoft And Activision Blizzard

TheElectroFunky

@WaffleDee Haha, ta very much! I’ve just been witness during my life to so many corporations changing out ways of life, and by time people speak up it’s been too late. I mean it was rather pointless to do documentary after documentary, and moaning about book shops going, after they’ve gone. Or butchers, green grocers and so on.

It’s getting to the point whereby most of our daily bills will go to a handful of companies, some of which are subsidiaries of one another anyway. That should scare people.

It’s like when British people say they won’t get Sky as they hate the company, then go on to watch a film by Universal, which is owned by Comcast, Comcast own Sky.

Silly example, but one that puts into perspective how frighteningly large some companies are.

Obviously I’m not scaremongering myself either, as I benefit from these corporations too, but it’s all about balance. Gamers struggle with balance on forums though. It’s all extremes of black and white.

Re: UK CMA Places Further Restrictions On Microsoft And Activision Blizzard

TheElectroFunky

@Kaloudz to be fair “an assumption based on a lack of understanding” is what most people do on every gaming forum I’ve ever been a part of.

So at worst they’re only guilty of doing exactly what most couch commentators do, and at best they protect consumer interests in the long term.

I only own a Limited company myself here in the UK, so I never claim to or wish to be an expert in all things corporate, but owning a limited company has already made me realise why massive corporations need so much more eyes on them and regulation.

I mean imagine how much more fruitful the limited companies would be of times gone by if Amazon and it’s ilk were not allowed to buy up many a company and outcompete the others due to scale.

Either way, even if you love the American company that doesn’t know you exist, or just like the console a bit, you’ll be able to play all Activision games on the Xbox regardless of the outcome.

So unless we invest, the outcome won’t negatively impact us, not in any life changing and direct manner. So at least there’s comfort in that.

Basically, regulation isn’t a bad thing, if done right, and when it comes to companies with more wealth than some small countries, it’s not a bad thing to keep a very, very close eye on their activities.

I mean without regulations for example my limited company could evade even more tax than is currently allowed, I already gain more benefits on pensions, drawing down on the company rather than being employed elsewhere, so it’s already surprising just how much can be gotten away with.

Now when it’s not a limited company and it’s instead a corporation, it’s manipulation of markets, industries, supply chains, the banking system, government etc. that’s a lot of control to a company no one voted to have control over them as a society.

Re: UK CMA Places Further Restrictions On Microsoft And Activision Blizzard

TheElectroFunky

I’m fine with any rules and regulations so long as CoD and Crash Bandicoot stay multi platform. That way no matter the consoles in ours or our friends homes, we can continue to enjoy CoD together as a popular brain dead form of entertainment, like the Channel 5 of gaming.

This deal literally means nothing to me no matter the direction it goes. If of course CoD stays multi platform.

So yeah, much like our British Royal Family, this deal is both everything and nothing.

Re: EA CEO: Whatever Happens With ActiBlizz Deal, We'll Still Be #1 Publisher On Microsoft's Platform

TheElectroFunky

I admire their confidence and commitment to shareholders, I just wish all these corporations realised it is not only their shareholders and investors that need a vote of confidence, it’s the customers/“consumers” the other side of the picket line too.

We moved from being a PlayStation household to an Xbox household about a year or two ago, you know, to see what we had been missing, play catch up etc.

And now, we are moving back to a PlayStation household to play catch up on that side etc.

The needle moved for us, in the fact that it was realised with a 1GB symmetrical down and up fibre to the home, we don’t need a physical Xbox anymore. (Granted, the lack of 4K, HDR and what not that Stadia supported is greatly disappointing, but it works well enough).

So we figured we could catch up on anything missed in the future that way, and get a cheap Xcloud sub off eBay etc any month we want for about £3-£4.

With the lack of first party games I wanted to catch up, and the lack of support (long list of issues trying to get their support teams to resolve issues. Yet they fail to understand what the word “support” means for the most part).

I guess what I’m saying is, it really doesn’t matter what the result of this all is to someone like me, and our entire household of gamers. As we just want great gameplay experiences, and even without buying these studios, their games are still available on Xbox and of course other platforms.

So it really is a moot point for many of my friends and family.

So to summarise;

Buying a massive corporation that already publishes games on the two major platforms anyway doesn’t sway me or anyone I know.

Instead, great gameplay experiences do. Regardless of platform.

So please, create fantastic experiences, that’s all. As yes, buying Activision/Blizzard will get Microsoft more cash rich revenue, but their entertainment will still be poor on the whole.

Some of these companies really need to realise being cash rich in an entertainment industry only gets you so far when customers come knocking asking for said entertainment.

For now, I’ll peer on in from Xcloud, and hope they release some first party games worth their asking price.

*All opinions subjective and no intent to cause flame or slander was given. Other people may have differing opinions and that’s okay, oh and I do not necessarily agree nor disagree with what I have just said.

PS: Really loving the site a lot more since it’s come back and will register next month!

Re: Why We're Excited For 'Ghostwire: Tokyo' To Hit Xbox Game Pass This Week

TheElectroFunky

Played it upon release on the PS5, and I have to say I was really impressed with the haptics and general feel on that controller. So other than that, it’s good it’s getting seen by a wider audience now.

I agree with the post above, it took me back at the time as it was much more of a walking sim feel than I expected, I guess the marketing gave me a different impression somehow at the time.

Either way, quite a fun few hours! Though best if you love the haptic side of things and have a PS5 to experience it there, if you don’t, then of course you can’t miss what you don’t have and it’ll still be awesome in its own right.

Re: Xbox's Quantum Break Reportedly Leaving Game Pass Due To 'Licensing Issues'

TheElectroFunky

I’ve just started playing this in the last week, so I’ll probably purchase it today and make sure I can carry on. It’s clunky, needs optimising, but it’s fun! I’m a fan of all the Uncharted/Last of Us type games, so jumping to Xbox it’s given me a bit of that feel I suppose. The clunkiness of Uncharted 1 in parts with the fun of Uncharted 3/4 for me.

Obviously each to their own etc. but yes, thanks for the heads up, I’ll make sure to purchase it today!

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With January 2023's Xbox Games With Gold?

TheElectroFunky

I’m all for having more “free” things added to my library, but these “Gold” games (shudder at the thought of referring to them as such), are grossly overshadowed when you have Game Pass Ultimate.

I still to this day haven’t found a single person mention Gold to me in person, or mention they only subscribe to Gold instead of GPU.

It just seems like a benefit for the sake of a benefit, but when it actually benefits next to no one, it looks more like a waste of resources and money rather than a benefit.

I think coming from a PlayStation eco system for years, I just find the whole thing very confusing and rather pointless. But of course, Game Pass is the big draw for me. So any changes to Gold won’t likely be even seen by me.

To put it simply, PS Plus wins by a country mile over Gold, but GamePass beats PS Plus. So Gold just seems a bit, well, awkward.

Re: Activision Blizzard Says FTC Has 'Lost Sight Of Realities' In Highly Critical Response To Lawsuit

TheElectroFunky

@Titntin Merry Christmas buddy, hope to see you around. I feel the same, and there’s actually some I have to actively avoid on here, as I used to be known on PushSquare, but left due to a person who writes a wall of text, is always right and so forth.

It just gets so dull. I’d rather debate with a brick wall.

Anyway, some are brilliant to interact with, like yourself, so have a good one!

Re: Xbox Confirms Exclusivity Plans For Three Upcoming Bethesda Games

TheElectroFunky

@BAMozzy Agreed, it does make total sense. However, playing devils advocate, I would just like to point out that the majority of the world don’t have internet connections suitable for cloud streaming. Whether it be data restrictions or actual speed and bandwidth itself.

Though of course, regulators likely won’t look into those figures as it’s not Microsoft’s fault that the world hasn’t got 1GB fibre connections galore.

Mind you, it is Microsoft’s responsibility to make sure on my 1GB fibre connection I have a decent server connection, but that’s rarely the case, but that’s just a personal complaint haha.

But yes, agreed, but just wanted to point out that cloud isn’t really an option for an incredible amount of players, but again, not Microsoft’s fault.

And again, I’d just like to make it clear that Xcloud doesn’t work well on my 1GB fibre. Stadia did, in 4K and HDR with even less lag.

So whatever Google did to make it work so well for me, I’d appreciate Microsoft doing the same before they scream from the rooftops I can “stream anywhere”.

Re: Xbox Unveils Job Listing For 'Director Of Japan Creator Partnerships'

TheElectroFunky

Well, one can tell why Xbox doesn’t focus on Japanese games just by looking at the comments section here, or the lack thereof.

The void in interaction relating to the Japanese centric gaming sphere on Xbox tells them all they need to know.

Shame really, as they could do well given their spending power if they put their heads together.

But gauging by this site one would assume more people want CoD for next to nothing on a Netflix style subscription.

Re: Microsoft Refers To Lack Of Xbox Exclusives As Why ActiBlizz Deal Should Be Approved

TheElectroFunky

@electrolite77 Very well said! I think many are raising some brilliant points and their concerns are of course valid, but as for the trajectory of the industry - only time will tell.

I mean at the beginning of last generation I couldn’t dislike Microsoft more, they basically spat in the face of gaming at large, got laughed at on a global scale. Even so far as many industry “insiders” expected them to move away from the industry.

Even this very website couldn’t justify existing, and still pales in comparison to many others.

Yet now, we are seeing a serious bounce back, mainly off the back of “appearing” more consumer friendly. So the opposite of last generation, and that’s even won people like me over more.

Now to the point whereby I genuinely just want all the key players to remain as such, because if the three main industry leaders no longer lead, that’s an unwritten future non can predict.

Despite of course the self appointed futurists you read on website comments like this one.

As for the deal, it won’t personally impact me. But what comes years down the line as a ripple effect may well do. As is the case for us all.

Anyway, I ramble, but I think yourself and a few others have made very valid points. Ones that don’t claim to know exactly how the industry will go, because non of us do.

As I said, not even Xbox as it is now was thought to be here at this point 8 years or so ago. So who knows what the future holds.

Re: Microsoft President Talks 'Disappointment' With FTC Over Call Of Duty Proposal

TheElectroFunky

@Bluphoenicks Yep, I think people conflate and thus confuse my complaining of massively rich companies using their power, as my somehow hating playing on PlayStation or Xbox etc.

I love my consoles, as in I love gaming, but I sure as hell ain’t going to give any corporation with the wealth of a small island my blind faith.

I know emotions run high with these message boards, I just want people to know it is possible to think large corporations don’t care about us and screw industries over long term, and yet still enjoy their product/s.

Re: Microsoft President Talks 'Disappointment' With FTC Over Call Of Duty Proposal

TheElectroFunky

@Trmn8r Good Lord, you’re going to attack a fellow Xbox user just because my comments about rich white men who struggle with their waistline got you personally somehow?

If you want to carry on defending a multibillion dollar enterprise, that won’t attend your funeral, by all means go ahead.

Oh, and it’s not a trope to refer to Phil Spencer as overweight, wealthy and white.

Because, he’s overweight, wealthy and white. And he likely thinks more of his next meal than he does of you, his loyal consumerist.

Re: Microsoft President Talks 'Disappointment' With FTC Over Call Of Duty Proposal

TheElectroFunky

It’s a Fair Trade Commission, not a Let’s Talk it Out Privately and Let a Corporation do Sly Deals Under The Table Commission.

Rather obviously, the FTC would shrug off assurances and promises by Microsoft at this stage. Microsoft (and their non-profitable arm Xbox), is trying to assure companies like Sony and Nintendo, and even Value, regarding an IP they don’t yet own.

Just let the commissions do their job, then blab about what you’re going to do. And unless asked, shut the F up about your “plans”, “wishes” and whatever else.

I’m sick to the back teeth of hearing this nonsense. If it’s due to have its day in court, let that be the platform for which you state your case. Otherwise every company involved looks incredibly naive to the industry they’re in.

They plead on like it’s a human rights case, it’s literally a case of which mainly rich slightly overweight white men get to become richer. That’s it. It’s not for me the customer, it’s not for the good of the industry. It’s just so tiring.

Re: Poll: What Is Your Xbox Game Of The Year For 2022?

TheElectroFunky

High on Life, As Dusk Falls, Call of Duty/Warzone, Plague Tale, Fortnite. Those are the ones I’ve had the most fun with this year game wise. Don’t know what’s on the list things as the drop downs aren’t working on my browser. So just need to fix that myself haha.

EDIT: I managed to vote for the ones I could. So all done now!

Re: Review: High On Life - Bland Shooting Action Meets Stoner Humour That's An Acquired Taste

TheElectroFunky

Okay, now that I’ve recovered from the acid hit that is the comments section, I’m definitely planning to give this game a go over the coming days.

It seems sort of what I’m looking for at just the right moment. Which is to say I’m looking for an Irvine Welsh game, but as written by a primary school child.

It’s like if they took all the drug addicts and told them to make a game, this could be that game, so for that reason, a reason of non-reasoning, it gets my vote to play.

It’s like how Halo for example can still be successful, despite looking as if the lead texture artist was Stevie Wonder after a day course at college.

Re: Report: Microsoft Offers Sony The 'Right' To Include Call Of Duty On PlayStation Plus

TheElectroFunky

If true, then I’m not surprised PlayStation as a brand doesn’t wish to have the CoD franchise on their Plus tiers. The cost for that would likely be mind boggling. Instead why not just say “no” and keep having CoD publish to the PlayStation platform as they always have.

It just isn’t something the brand needs to have happen to thrive, they just need CoD players on their platform. And when it only costs about £50/60 brand new on day of release for a physical copy, most people like me will just buy it each year anyway.

I mean I’m loving GamePass, but I wouldn’t love it more with CoD on there anyway, as I don’t play anything but the current iteration.

So for me, and in our household, this deal going through only changes two things:

1) CoD goes onto GamePass, but I already own them from point of sale. So that changes nothing for me.

2) Microsoft would be managing Activision, and seeing how they did with things like Halo management, or just management of their brand as a whole up until late, that doesn’t fill me with optimism.

And, despite loving GamePass, I only tend to play a little from it, so it means realistically, just like Netflix, its perceived value I enjoy, not actual value. Clearly. Or I’d realise it’s not remotely worth it due to the lack of time I spend with it and I’d cancel it.

Odd to be aware they (Microsoft) have a grip and yet I won’t stop it. Haha. Wow, that’s some inner evaluation I need to do.

Anyway, now time for a drink! 🎄

Re: Phil Spencer: Sony Wants To 'Make Xbox Smaller' To Protect PlayStation's Dominance

TheElectroFunky

@JayJ To be fair, I’d say some of the male staff at studios Activision have, have been the most toxic and worst thing in the gaming industry.

As for fan base drama, Xbox tends to have far more immature fans on audio during gaming I’ve experienced, whereas Sony just bicker more online

But realistically I’ve seen **** been thrown on both sides since both came to be. I remember when the original Xbox was released, and there’s been nothing but trash thrown at people from either the Sony or Xbox community.

The majority of gamers don’t even comment on websites like these, otherwise they’d have hundreds of thousands if not millions of comments per article. So it’s important we remember these interactions with one another are a remarkably small percentage of the fan base.

If I mainly read Xbox stuff for a week, I see a lot of people defending Xbox, and hating Sony. Yet if I read Sony for a week, same in reverse.

The worst thing I’ve found in gaming has been lack of proper refunds being fully offered on some platforms for years, shipping unfinished products that would be illegal if it were another sales category in some cases, staff being treated like crap, customers in general being treated like wallets so openly, I mean the list goes on.

The fans of every corporation is a bad thing when defending a company. As all it serves to do is provide them free advertisement, and whilst I’m a fan of both PlayStation and Xbox, time is money, and if I’m to defend either one, I’ll be billing them.

In short: I’ve read people time again on here slate PlayStation and their fans, yet over on PushSquare I read them slate Xbox and their fans. Wherever I spend my time I just have to accept that it’s tribal and essentially everyone but the (sometimes) factual words in the article need to be ignored. As it’s usually free unpaid corporate advertising humans are doing off their own back just to feel self worth.

Yet just like an elite university, the main focus of these companies is always going to be on their parents wallet.

Ignore the trolls, and have a great Christmas matey! 🎉

Re: Phil Spencer: Sony Wants To 'Make Xbox Smaller' To Protect PlayStation's Dominance

TheElectroFunky

Well, predictably the comments section on these articles becomes a tribalistic nonsense spewing mess. I keep reading some thought provoking comments, yet when smeared with such ridiculous insults and rhetoric it all gets lost.

Regarding what I think of this deal going through/not going through - I believe corporations have far to much power as it is. What with their bribes to governments and so forth, and how entire markets can be swayed and manipulated by just a few.

A few that value their customers and their privacy a whole lot less than they’d like to portray.

So I don’t care if the deal goes through as far as how I’ll play. I play Call of Duty games and other Activision games on a mixture of PlayStation and Xbox.

What matters to me is that it’s made clear to the public that Microsoft nor Sony care about the consumer, nor should they be defended by said consumer. This is a fight for the legal teams and a fight that a mainly uneducated on the matter public, shouldn’t waste their time with.

Microsoft consolidating the industry and gaining a larger foothold doesn’t benefit me, or hinder me, but as is the case, it should be investigated. That’s all I care for.

It’s not like the deal would happen or not and instantly I can’t play the generic but addictive shooter anymore.

Re: Random: Xbox Is Now Selling Mini 'Hoodies' For Its Wireless Controllers

TheElectroFunky

@JayJ I was quite literally showing my partner the page and asking the same thing, thinking she would be more attuned to trends in this space than I care for.

Yet, nope, not even our daughter understands it at 13. So not sure what the marketing idea is behind them.

My daughter said an hour ago or so “People can barely afford GamePass at school and they want people to buy a top to keep a controller warm!”

I’m not sure it’s to keep the controller warm, but nevertheless, interesting point to make regarding priorities during these times, for Microsoft and its customers.

Anyway, find out what the purpose is do tell some time!

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With December 2022's Xbox Games With Gold?

TheElectroFunky

I’ll be sure to give them a go, as it’s a benefit of GamePass Ultimate, well, they’re all rolled into the same offering, so I’ll try the Gold games. At the very least sometimes one out of the family finds a gem they love.

When I was over on the PlayStation side for some years up until recently, I always appreciated Plus but seemed to be one of the few, so who knows, maybe the same is the case for what Microsoft offer.

Re: Report Suggests Google Isn't Keen On Xbox's Attempt To Buy Activision Blizzard

TheElectroFunky

I do wish Stadia could continue, as it got great use in our house, and from a technical standpoint it looked and played far better than GamePass streaming.

Then of course, I understand that Xcloud requires and encourages Edge browser to use the “clarity boost” function. Which by my eye makes things go from looking 480p in movement to 481p in movement whilst streaming.

But of course, digs at Microsoft’s poor attempt at game streaming aside (as I love GamePass as a whole). Google isn’t going to be happy about them pushing their own browser, that pushes their own search engine and so on.

Basically I don’t expect anyone to be happy from a business standpoint with the Activision in a blizzard deal, unless they’re Activision or Microsoft.

I mean honestly, why would any other technology firm either in the gaming space or out of it, have anything other than no opinion to a terrible opinion of the buyout?

Every business looks after itself. And that includes creating fans that do all your advertising for you for free, and then they think their role as a customer is valued.

Remember folks, corporations don’t care for you, they care for your wallet and how much you’re willing to advertise for them for free.

They won’t attend your funeral, so probably wise to not worry if they have theirs coming.

Re: Xbox Series X Receives Price Drops For Black Friday 2022

TheElectroFunky

We’re good with the Series S consoles we have for now, but good to see the drops on the consoles occasionally. Especially when the kids will want them for Christmas, not that I’d recommend getting one for a child due to the resolution and frame rate differences being of no importance to many.

A few adults should be happy with the deal though, about time after two years things started to be reduced a tad.

Re: 2023 Could End Up Being The Biggest Year In Xbox Game Pass History

TheElectroFunky

After switching from PS to Xbox for a while in this household, we are currently doing a combination of catching up on what’s been missed and playing third party games.

However, if it wasn’t for that, it would be hard to justify staying. It’s mainly the much cheaper cost of how easily I can get foreign games online to use here in the UK digitally that keeps me.

But if they start to release some brilliant big hitters, I’m sold on staying!

Either way, it’s rather difficult for me to complain about the lack of releases when playing catch up, and mainly playing third party.

And when I add to that getting Argentine or Turkish keys for so much less, something I can’t easily do on PS. I think they’d have to fail big for me to move.

I am looking forward to some of the future releases, but to be fair I’m not a fan of what some of the studios have produced before, so I’m a little wary.

Re: Xbox Boss On Keystone Price Point: $99 - $129 USD Would 'Make Sense'

TheElectroFunky

My daughter used to use Stadia, as it was just nice when she visits to not need a separate console that’s used a fraction of the time.

Well, Stadia, on our 1GB fibre here in the UK was quite literally almost near perfect.

She used both a Dualsense and a Xbox controller, both wired to the iMac. Then simply streamed the games via Chrome as recommended.

Now Destiny 2 for example, looked no different than on a PS5 or Series S at the time. Only for a split second would you see pixelated images.

All this, at 4K and HDR with next to no noticeable lag either. I couldn’t believe it, so much so I’d play around with it myself and genuinely be in awe.

Now, compared that to Xcloud or whatever it’s called currently. That is astonishingly bad in comparison.

Same internet connection, use an iMac, Windows PC, Xbox Series S, etc. All max 1080p, and that’s a 1080p that if you so much as dare move, you have janky movement and pixels galore.

There’s no 4K, no HDR, no decent sound. Absolutely crappy lag.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m impressed, but it’s clear Microsoft need help in this area. Google did say they’d be open to selling/helping others with tech like this using their own.

And if the teams at Microsoft have any sense they’ll snatch that help right up.

Stadia may have been a joke to many, but it produced an image close to that of a PS5/Series X with little to no noticeable lag. To me, that’s impressive.

Xcloud is no where near that, so, get it up to that level, and I’ll be considering an Xbox hockey puck.

I did after all purchase way back when, an OnLive Controller and puck, and that worked better on my old telephone “fibre” connection than Xcloud works on a true fibre connection years later.

Re: 'Evil West' Runs At 1080P & 30FPS On Xbox Series S, 4K On Xbox One X

TheElectroFunky

And to just add, I am a tad confused as to why, though a budget machine, the Series S is getting the same graphics profile as say a 2013 PS4.

I’m aware the Series S is no juggernaut, but it’s no slouch either, and it’s certainly got a lot more capabilities when it comes to number crunching that a jaguar dated processor, lest I forget the SSD too.

I’m just all kinds of confused, as things just don’t seem to have jumped like I was expecting. Ray tracing is nice, but to be fair I’ve only noticed that on Fortnite. Many other games don’t look too different to the original baked versions when I’m quickly moving around.

So all in all, maybe I just expected too much from this generation.

It’s tough, I mean even the Xbox One X runs it at 4K/30fps. So it’s sort of a hard sell that we are moving forward when it’s so gradual it’s barely noticeable.

I will say, the speed of this gen is the standout to me. Otherwise I don’t see much of a difference.

Re: 'Evil West' Runs At 1080P & 30FPS On Xbox Series S, 4K On Xbox One X

TheElectroFunky

As a household we sold the PS5, purchased two Xbox Series S consoles with the funds and kept a bit of spare change, with the intention of getting an Xbox Series X in each room to replace them both eventually. I must say, reading things like this on the surface would make us wish to speed up that process.

Yet I don’t know whether it’s the TV sets we are playing on, or the fact I’m 36, but when I’m watching a film say, I can really notice the drop in say resolution and what not.

However, maybe due to being involved directly in a game, I don’t tend to notice these things nearly as much.

So it’s a two sided issue, I know the performance is better with the X, obviously, and I know it outputs a clearer image, thus articles like this and the fact it’s, well, a fact, make me want them instead.

Yet it just simply isn’t as noticeable as I’d have thought.

And I got new glasses last week, so I know it’s not that! Haha.

Re: Phil Spencer 'Excited' About Future Of StarCraft & Warcraft Under Xbox

TheElectroFunky

Well, I don’t know what to say to that headline, other than I’m glad the CEO of the company publishing the games is excited about those games futures.

I’d imagine as CEO he’s excited about anything that grows the brand and increases its market value. So that he can either retire on a wonderful blanket of thanks from shareholders or move to another company with a great track record.

Either way, it’s another day where a CEO says exactly as you’d expect.

In other news, I’m excited for StarCraft, and unlike Phil have no financial gain in saying it.
