Still mostly playing Avowed. Have clocked up around 48 hours play, and am now in the third region - Shatterscarp. I’m pretty happy with my current build - on one loadout I have “exceptional grimoire of rime” and “Minoletta’s conduit” wand. On the other loadout I have “Drawn in winter” axe, and “tree of life” shield. Going to try and finish the game before/by AC Shadows comes out.

I’m off work now until Tuesday, so plan on spending the next 3 days devouring Avowed! Fun combat and the game rewards exploration. Also love the fact that you’re not class-locked, so can mix’n’match weapons, and can even do the same in the skill and ability trees, letting you spend points in any of the fighter, ranger or wizard trees. The game also has a lot of quality of life touches, like sending anything in your inventory straight to your stash, no matter where you are, or being able to fast travel to any unlocked FT point, again, from no matter where you are. Great stuff.
Only other game I’ll be playing is Ender Magnolia, which though hard at times, is great fun. Have just unlocked the swim ability, so plenty of areas to return to now!

I reckon the next Xbox console will come out quite a bit before PS6. I think this is all connected to why Microsoft is now releasing games on PS5, to raise the profile of the Xbox brand. So when their next console comes out, even PlayStation users will be thinking “actually, Xbox has been releasing lots of good games, I may consider getting the new console, especially with all those day 1 titles on Gamepass”. Microsoft are playing the long game.

Re: Talking Point: Avowed Premium Owners, What Are Your First Impressions?

Still on the starting island, so haven’t got to Paradis yet. Enjoying the combat and exploring so far, and tbh these are the two main enjoyment factors for me in a game like this. I tried the game on quality mode, but it wasn’t smooth enough for me so switched to performance (which unfortunately requires you to reboot the game, so make sure you save first). It’s still too early to give a solid opinion, but early impressions are pretty good.

I’ve been delving into my back catalogue recently. Assassins Creed Mirage - which I got for Christmas 2023! - has been getting the most play. Quite enjoying the back to basics gameplay, and Ubisoft’s depiction of Baghdad is gorgeous. Also from my back catalogue - I’ve finally got around to playing Slay the Spire! This has been on my Xbox for a good few years now, but I just never got around to playing it. I’m enjoying the combination of a roguelike with card deck building mechanics.

I finally rolled credits on Dragon Age Veilguard. Thoroughly enjoyed this game and is probably my GOTY for 2024. It speaks volumes for the game when only after some 118 hours of play I was starting to get the first twinges of burnout. I now have a big hole in my gaming schedule, and don’t know what to fill it with 🤔 I want to do another play through on DAV as a mage, but think I should probably take a break from the game first 😂

Still playing Dragon age Veilguard - close to 100 hours now 😲 also playing Infinity Nikki on PS5, which has a GORGEOUS open world. Close to throwing in the towel on the Indy game. I love exploring tombs, and the graphics are fantastic, but the stealth sections - of which there are many - are just too annoying. Now starting to think the PureXbox’s score of 6/10 wasn’t so harsh after all.

My go-to game is still Dragon Age Veilguard. Just passed the 80 hours mark and still loving it 😀 also playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. I have mixed views on this game so far. Sometimes I love the exploring, like under the Vatican. But other times I get frustrated, as I seem to keep getting lost in the Vatican 😂 Also, constantly wandering into “restricted areas” is annoying af. Tbh I’ll just be glad to move on to the next area.
I’m thinking of buying the roguelite (roguelike?) Redacted. Anyone played it?

Update. Ok, I played Indy for a few hours this morning, and the game is really growing on me. I solved the fountain puzzle, and am now exploring underground again, which is great fun. They really captured that Indy feel, especially with the original trilogy. Oh yeah, the graphics are amazing, and all at 60fps! 🙂

Re: Talking Point: A Year Later, What Do You Think Of Forza Motorsport?

Nightcrawler71

I still play it regularly, almost daily. Hardly ever play multiplayer though. Always do the SP races that refresh every month, like the open class tour races. FM is my “palette cleanser” game between other games. I appreciate the drip-feed of new tracks over the past year. My only complaint would be the lack of fictional/fantasy tracks, which Sony do pretty well in GT with tracks like Trial Mountain and Deep forest raceway.
