I do limited releases on Switch. Ironically, the big publishers doing exclusive bonuses like missions and early access has turned me off from pre-ordering those games. The idea that they keep trying to push the limits of what I will accept, like they are trying to call my bluff? I'm not bluffing.
Yeah. That's what digital subs do. Next they will include a tier w a ton of ads. Does anyone here need me to look further into my crystal ball, or are we learning?
I don't like the idea of a game subscription. If I was stuck w a Series console, I'd probably get Game pass cause it's the thing to do. The best a monthly thing like this can do, imo, is stay out of my head. Changing prices makes me think, and reconsider, ya know?
I mean Ninja Theory made Kung Fu Chaos back then. I'd take a few of those over Hellblade, personally, but I'm more into games that are fun. Now everyone needs to be, you know "auteurs." Same era when Naughty Dog was doing Jak and Daxter. To be clear, I think games are better than ever. I'm just outside of the group whose apparently asking for games that cost hundreds of millions to make. I like a giant game every now and then, but the break out success usually look like Minecraft not The Last of Us.
Same as every year this gen. Another year to wait through until next, when we might get some games. I don't have faith that they will deliver what they promised next year.
I skipped this generation of XBOX, but 2025 looks great. Problem is that I'm sure a lot of them will be delayed, and Doom is going to be on PS5. Having a Switch, many portable emus, and a PS5 is already a firehose of games. That said, excellent showcase. I still really, really want XBOX to succeed. Just for the basic "competition is good" reasons.
I wonder the info that's going to come out if BG&E 2 ever releases. I'm betting they were banking hard on NFTs, what with all the "own actual game art and share your own art" stuff they were promising.
@Jenkinss they've alluded to the Quake Marine, BJ Blaskowitz, and the Slayer all sharing the same universe, so I doubt the idea is dead. There's so much Quake in the new Doom games that it seems redundant...but yeah, I'd like a new Quake. The Nightdive releases have been wonderful.
Doom.
I think Gears is pretty middling. It would be really funny to see everyday citizens around the world, before eday. I'm assuming they're all giant slabs of meat.
South of Midnight looked like a watch through more than a play for me. The combat looked super rough, like Bomb Rush or something.
@Zochmenos For real. I love a game called Ronin, that no one even remembers, and I think one of my favorite reviewers gave it a 4? It looked like an esurance ad, but for whatever reason, it clicked and I found it really satisfying. One of my favorite bands is GWAR. They won't be hitting the rock n roll hall of fame any time soon.
For me, MS hasn't capitalized on the ActiBlizzKing acquisition just like they haven't capitalized on the Bethesda acquisition. They needed known properties or at least plans for known properties right out of the gate. Even if they just announced exclusive Spyro, Crash, Fallout, etc with a logo or a teaser, it would have gone a long way toward differentiating the console from the competition. I have OG XBOX-XBONE in my home, I don't even own a Series console. I was going to wait until Doom was announced as an exclusive, but they seem to not have the testicular fortitude to have exclusives.
@Spider-Kev Oh. But you only like attractive protags? So I guess you are choosing to be attracted to the male protagonists of the games you play. How fun. Not many people are able to just switch it on and off like that. Good for you!
@vrubayka can you repeat that? I forgot what you said.
As dumb and humorless as I am, my memory is worse.
Seriously. Ya' took that in stride! I didn't even remember talking to you.
But here's a fat "like" for your comment. Hope it gets you through whatever you are dealing with.
Also YOU are not punctual. And you smack your lips. Take that.
@Spider-Kev interesting. What kind of guys are you more attracted to? Are you more into the twink thing or the bear thing? Do you prefer your protagonist with huge, rippling muscles, or more of a waifish dude? Chest hair or no?
@JokerBoy422 Your appearance in every fable game (besides the first) up to now has been a binary choice that is later altered by good/bad choices. The rest of what you said was too stupid to respond to.
@vrubayka hey, if that's your neckbearded life, we'd all appreciate it if you just screamed at your body pillow. Here I was thinking you just said "it wasn't review bombed, akshoolee."
@Ver then they should get a job doing the things they do. An overwhelming number of them already have a dev gig.
I come from Doom mods. The people that do the best of those make something like Selaco, and sell it. Others don't want to sell it, they just make fun mods.
But okay, let's play. Do you know what "The Forgotten City" is? A Skyrim mod that became a full priced game. Cause that's where the devs found themselves. With a whole ass new game. "Better trees and camps" probably doesn't feel the same way.
It's ironic AF that Bethesda especially do not embrace the hacker ethic that made/makes them. Modders practically finish their games for them, and now they outright endorse paying them to do it.
@vrubayka yes, it is. These are largely "reviews" from people that have not played the content yet. Based on conjecture. They are leaving negative reviews based on a decision they disagree with.
@DonkeyFantasy I meant that I couldn't get on with it even at release, lol. But I mean...after Starfield? All I can hope for is that the next ES games pleases fans or at least is doing things that current games are doing when it comes out. I have almost zero hope for Fallout. Unless they give it to another team. Seems Fallout is kind of just an aesthetic now...
I've tried to really get into Skyrim and it never sticks. It feels bad to play imo, with about as much impact to the combat as punching a tree in Minecraft. There were also several off the beaten path areas I discovered, that seemed like the kind of challenge that would be rewarded with cool loot or something. I'd spend a bunch of time inching through these challenging areas and get barely any reward. When the game feels bad, the story is boring, and the rewards for exploration are largely bland...I just didn't see the point. But hey I've bought it several times, so at the end of the day Bethesda is fine.
I hope we see a society of giant Meat Men obsessed with gains. They all started eating grubs because it was the world's most effective source of macronutrients. E Day is just Locust revenge.

Re: Talking Point: How Hyped Are You For Indiana Jones On Xbox Series X|S?
Machinegames have always had really sloppy shooting, even since they were Starbreeze. If they nail the atmosphere, it will be a good time, I'm sure.
Re: Talking Point: Two Months On, Did Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 Live Up To The Hype?
It lived up to my expectations in that I still have no desire to play it.
Re: Talking Point: Do You Ever Pre-Order Xbox Games Anymore?

Machinegames makes games that are immersive, but the action just never feels good. Been that way since they were Starbreeze.
