Re: Talking Point: Do You Ever Pre-Order Xbox Games Anymore?

LikelySatan

I do limited releases on Switch. Ironically, the big publishers doing exclusive bonuses like missions and early access has turned me off from pre-ordering those games. The idea that they keep trying to push the limits of what I will accept, like they are trying to call my bluff? I'm not bluffing.

Re: Soapbox: I Miss The Type Of Pick-Up-And-Play Games We Got On Original Xbox

I mean Ninja Theory made Kung Fu Chaos back then. I'd take a few of those over Hellblade, personally, but I'm more into games that are fun. Now everyone needs to be, you know "auteurs." Same era when Naughty Dog was doing Jak and Daxter. To be clear, I think games are better than ever. I'm just outside of the group whose apparently asking for games that cost hundreds of millions to make. I like a giant game every now and then, but the break out success usually look like Minecraft not The Last of Us.

Re: Xbox's 2024 Showcase Was Great, But It Was Missing A Big ActiBlizz Announcement

LikelySatan

For me, MS hasn't capitalized on the ActiBlizzKing acquisition just like they haven't capitalized on the Bethesda acquisition. They needed known properties or at least plans for known properties right out of the gate. Even if they just announced exclusive Spyro, Crash, Fallout, etc with a logo or a teaser, it would have gone a long way toward differentiating the console from the competition. I have OG XBOX-XBONE in my home, I don't even own a Series console. I was going to wait until Doom was announced as an exclusive, but they seem to not have the testicular fortitude to have exclusives.

Re: Starfield Is Getting Review Bombed (Again)

@vrubayka can you repeat that? I forgot what you said.
As dumb and humorless as I am, my memory is worse.
Seriously. Ya' took that in stride! I didn't even remember talking to you.
But here's a fat "like" for your comment. Hope it gets you through whatever you are dealing with.
Also YOU are not punctual. And you smack your lips. Take that.

Re: Starfield Is Getting Review Bombed (Again)

@Ver then they should get a job doing the things they do. An overwhelming number of them already have a dev gig.
I come from Doom mods. The people that do the best of those make something like Selaco, and sell it. Others don't want to sell it, they just make fun mods.
But okay, let's play. Do you know what "The Forgotten City" is? A Skyrim mod that became a full priced game. Cause that's where the devs found themselves. With a whole ass new game. "Better trees and camps" probably doesn't feel the same way.
It's ironic AF that Bethesda especially do not embrace the hacker ethic that made/makes them. Modders practically finish their games for them, and now they outright endorse paying them to do it.

Re: Phil Spencer Seems Excited About The Elder Scrolls 6, But Can't Say Anything

LikelySatan

@DonkeyFantasy I meant that I couldn't get on with it even at release, lol. But I mean...after Starfield? All I can hope for is that the next ES games pleases fans or at least is doing things that current games are doing when it comes out. I have almost zero hope for Fallout. Unless they give it to another team. Seems Fallout is kind of just an aesthetic now...

I've tried to really get into Skyrim and it never sticks. It feels bad to play imo, with about as much impact to the combat as punching a tree in Minecraft. There were also several off the beaten path areas I discovered, that seemed like the kind of challenge that would be rewarded with cool loot or something. I'd spend a bunch of time inching through these challenging areas and get barely any reward. When the game feels bad, the story is boring, and the rewards for exploration are largely bland...I just didn't see the point.
But hey I've bought it several times, so at the end of the day Bethesda is fine.
