I got my Series S a few months after launch for β¬290,- Because of the chip shortage (and Covid) I was able to sell my PS4 Pro for β¬270,-. So I basically got my entry into next (now current) gen for β¬20,- Very satisfied with the value proposition of the Series S. π
I really enjoyed SoM! Great 15 hour adventure with an awesome sense of style and decent enough gameplay. I'm playing through Contrast right now, one of Compulsion Games previous games and while it does have quite a bit more jank, it's still wholly original and I'm enjoying that as well.
I own the Logitech G Cloud and I'm quite happy with it. I'm playing through South of Midnight at the moment and I reckon about half my playtime so far has been on the G Cloud. Cloud Gaming works really well for games that don't require ultra precise aiming, although even Doom Eternal is quite playable. I'm curious about the upcoming ASUS Xbox handheld, but even that is going to mostly be a Windows PC with an Xbox logo. Until the fabled 2027 Xbox handheld truly manages to combine console and PC gaming, I feel like cloud gaming handhelds like the G Cloud or the Abxylute are the best solution for someone who wants to play Xbox console games portably, rather than playing PC versions that don't always run that well on the current crop of PC handhelds, eg. Indiana Jones or Avowed.
Just finished up Avowed. I really enjoyed the world design and hunting for secrets, but I can't say the story grabbed me very much.
Now I'm waiting for South of Midnight to unlock. I was debating getting the Early Access upgrade, but decided against it. Aside from playing early, really the only other thing that interests me from this bundle is the soundtrack and that's available on streaming services.
So I decided to wait and instead jumped into the "Ancient Gods Pt. 2" expansion for Doom Eternal, which I hadn't played yet. It's really fun and really hard and I'm having a blast. Can't wait for Doom: The Dark Ages!
Discontinuing the 1β¬/$ trial doesn't really make sense to me. Starfield is such a massive game that nobody outside of professional reviewers and a few diehards will be able to finish it within two weeks. On the other hand, dipping your toes into Starfield for free for two weeks might convince people to want to keep playing and subscribe to GP outright.
Those reward points I've been saving up have now been put to good use - got myself this sweet controller and the (imho) even sweeter looking headset. Thanks Microsoft! π
So now you can actually buy individual Xbox titles and stream them through the cloud, something you still can't do on Xbox. I wonder if that's something they're planning to add to their own store as well.
If og Xbox and Xbox 360 games don't support subscription based licenses, wouldn't that also mean that subbing for just one month of Game Pass should get you all of those games that are included in GP, yours to keep forever? Can't tell myself as I've never unsubbed. π
Never really played a Souls game, but Elden Ring looks super appealing to me. The world looks so varied and interesting. It reminds me of Breath of the wild in the best way. Easy day one purchase for me.
@TheSilverFalcon Oh, I didn't know there was a New Game Plus... Will have to give that a spin at some point. I did encounter one bug myself... in one dungeon my turtle would occasionally get stuck inside some rock which would force me to quit out of the game and restart the dungeon. Not a big deal though and I've been having an absolute ball experimenting will all the different characters.
The problem with these Switch-like controllers is that they generally don't allow for audio passthrough, meaning you can't use a headphone jack and you're stuck with bluetooth audio and the audio latency is terrible in my experience. Renders everything completely unplayable.
@Savage_Joe You're right, thank you. When I posted this the game hadn't been released yet and the Game Pass app only said "console". I'm glad I was wrong, though, and I'll be playing this probably on my phone and tablet more so than on my console. Cheers!
Danganronpa should really be available on cloud. It's a visual novel so latency really isn't an issue, touch controls should work fine and since it's a lengthy game it might benefit from being portable. There might be some rights issue we're not aware of, though.

I was only mildly hyped so far, but this looks incredible! Especially running on a PS5 as opposed to some high end PC.

I just finished Flintlock: Siege of Dawn, which I quite liked. Now it's time for Dungeons of Hinterberg. Two hours in and I'm loving it!
