Re: Talking Point: Has This Been The Best Month Ever For Xbox Game Pass?

DTfearTheBEARD

A great month indeed! I actually dusted off the old Series X today after about 6 months of no playtime. Renewed my GPU subscription for 3 months and downloaded a bunch of games to keep me busy for a while.

Microsoft is finally giving me a reason to give the PS5 Pro & Steam Deck OLED a break!

I'm looking forward to Doom The Dark Ages & THPS 3+4 in the coming months.

Re: 'SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos' Is Back, But There's No Sign Of An Xbox Release

DTfearTheBEARD

@dskatter, I agree. Besides the controller, that's one of the reasons why I buy almost all of my physical games on PS5 instead of Series X. I want the Series X version on the disc, not the Xbox One version.

Unfortunately, those are few and far between. The last physical copies I bought for Series X are Resident Evil 4 Remake & Dead Space Remake because they don't have Xbox One versions.

Re: 'SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos' Is Back, But There's No Sign Of An Xbox Release

DTfearTheBEARD

It's not a big deal to me. Xbox controllers have always been terrible for fighting games since the original console. I've never been a fan of the hard plastic bubble shaped A/B/X/Y buttons on any of their controllers.

For that reason alone, I will always choose Playstation or Nintendo for any of my fighting games, plus at least both of those platforms still receive physical releases.

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Pick 'Quality' Over 'Performance' Modes On Xbox Series X|S?

DTfearTheBEARD

I have an XSX and choose performance all of the time!

Sometimes, I'll go back and forth between performance and quality modes to see if I can tell much of a difference in visual quality. I usually can't, but the difference between 60/30fps is obviously noticeable.

I definitely go with 120fps if the option is available. DOOM Eternal, Overcooked 2, & Mad Max come to mind.

Re: Poll: How Many Physical Xbox Games Do You Have In Your Collection?

DTfearTheBEARD

I have around 200 physical games across all 4 Xbox console generations. Only 5 of them are Series X games (Elden Ring, Far Cry 6, Callisto Protocol, Dead Space, & Resident Evil 4)

Most of my physical games are purchased on PS5 & Switch.

I prefer physical over digital but my Series X is mostly used for backwards compatible and Game Pass games. Hopefully Microsoft continues to release games on disc. But I'm sure they will be the first to go all cloud & digital sooner than later...

Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy A 'Revised' Xbox Series X|S Controller In 2024?

DTfearTheBEARD

Yes, please. A revision is much needed for the Xbox controllers. I love my Elite Series 2, but the standard Xbox controller, not so much. The ABXY buttons make my thumb sore after a while with certain games (Gears). Make those buttons flat and less noisy. The rumble is dated. Using AA batteries is fine. Gyro would be great and hopefully make it more of a standard going forward.

Just one more reason why I prefer multi-plats on PS5 over my Series X.
The Dualsense Controller has been a game changer this Gen. Besides battery life, everything about the Dualsense is better! It's my favorite controller of all time! The Switch Pro controller is right behind it.

The Xbox 360 controller is amazing and Microsoft improved upon it with the Xbox One/Series controller. But Sony passed them up with the Dualshock 4 and even more so with the Dualsense.

Re: Phil Spencer Congratulates Bethesda On The 'Incredible Achievement' Of Launching Starfield

DTfearTheBEARD

So far, so good. I'm about 4 hours in. Played 2 hours on my Steam Deck through the cloud with gyro aiming and another 2 hours on my Series X to see how it looks on my OLED display. While the game truly shines graphically on my 4K TV, of course, I kinda prefer to play in handheld mode with gyro controls. Either way, I have a better chance to get through this game with the option to play in portable mode.

Re: Alan Wake 2 Delayed Due To Other Big Game Launches This Fall

DTfearTheBEARD

I really want to support Remedy & Alan Wake with a day 1 purchase, but the lack of a physical release means I'll be waiting for a big price drop.

Even with October's packed month full of releases, I would have picked this up.
Any word on if Remedy responded to THQ Nordic's offer to make a physical version available?

Re: Backwards Compatible Games Will Remain Purchasable After Xbox 360 Store Closure

DTfearTheBEARD

Sad news to wake up to this morning. After almost 20 years, we knew it would go away someday. I have most of the 360 games I like on disc already, but a list of games you can only purchase on the 360 store would be appreciated.

At first, I thought BC OG Xbox & 360 games would no longer be available for purchase on the store for Series X/S, but I'm glad to see that's not the case. I'll have to buy a 2TB external HDD and hook up the old 360 slim to buy all the games that will be gone by this time next year.

Re: Quake 2 Remastered Is Getting Multiple Physical Editions For Xbox

DTfearTheBEARD

Xbox One disc and no gyro support means I won't be ordering a physical copy for my Series X. I'll order copies for PS5 & Switch instead.

With Smart delivery for disc versions of Xbox games, I don't buy many physical copies for my Series X. I prefer to have the Series X version on disc (Resident Evil 4, Dead Space, Callisto Protocol, ect)

Re: Review: Quake 2 - A Beautiful Revamp Of iD Software's Seminal Shooter Blasts Its Way Onto Xbox Game Pass

DTfearTheBEARD

Gyro should be a standard (optional) for most games. If Microsoft included gyro sensors and their controllers by now, I'm sure it would be. Even Sony is starting to embrace gyro more with some first party releases (GOW Ragnarok, TLOU Part 1, Horizon Forbidden West) I don't game on PC but the Steam Deck has me interested with it's built in gyro support. I'm holding out in hopes of an OLED Steam Deck revision. But yeah, using a standard thumbstick to aim in shooters doesn't have the same precision vs thumbstick/gyro together.

Re: Review: Quake 2 - A Beautiful Revamp Of iD Software's Seminal Shooter Blasts Its Way Onto Xbox Game Pass

DTfearTheBEARD

I played a little bit yesterday on my Series X, and it's amazing! Super smooth 120fps really is a game changer for fps games.

Same with Quake 1, I'll be picking up physical copies of Quake 2 for Switch & PS5. The Game Pass version will do until then.

If only the Xbox version had gyro support, oh well, at least the PS5 & Switch versions do. Microsoft really needs a controller revision.

Re: GTA 5 Returns To Xbox Game Pass, Including Next-Gen Upgrade

DTfearTheBEARD

I upgraded to the digital version for $10 last year on PS5 and picked up a physical copy for $20. The ray-tracing, 60fps, adaptive triggers, and haptics alone make the upgrade worth it.
I'll download the Series X version when it's available on Game Pass and pick up a physical copy for the collection in the future.

Re: Review: Dordogne - A Heartfelt Indie Delight That's A Perfect Fit For Xbox Game Pass

DTfearTheBEARD

@Mastodon3954 I just started Planet of Lana, and so far, so good. Most of the games I buy are physical, and I usually pick up multiplats on PS5.
Unless it's something I love like RE4 Remake, Dead Space Remake, Callisto Protocol, ect. Then I'll double dip for Xbox & Playstation and Switch sometimes as well.

Game Pass & PS Plus Premium are such great deals they give me a reason to play games I probably wouldn't or missed out on due to playing other stuff.

I've never heard of Blue Oyster Cult so no it isn't. I appreciate the reply, though. Happy gaming!

Re: Talking Point: Xbox One Users, What Do You Think Of The Console In 2023?

DTfearTheBEARD

Sold my black Xbox One X to a friend when I was able to upgrade to a Series X Christmas 2021. I also had a brand new Gears 5 One X but ended up giving that to my nephew's, which I kinda wish I would have kept. I still have my PS4 Pro. But after upgrading to a PS5 & Series X that pretty much made my PS4 Pro & One X obsolete. I can't go back to the slow load times & 30fps gaming of last gen.
