Re: Talking Point: Would You Be Willing To Pay $80 For Xbox Games?

ChopperCampbell

I used to buy all the games I wanted at full price and on the day of release, both for single-player and multiplayer games.

Over the past five years or so I’ve been less and less inclined to play online multiplayer, which has led a marked change in my purchasing habits.

On the rare occasion a multiplayer game takes my fancy I’ll likely buy it close to release in order to play before the player base dwindles , but I’ll make use of CDKeys or similar sites to get large discounts. For single-player, I’m more than happy to wait a month, six months, a year or even longer to get it dirt cheap.

As for £80 for a game? Not a chance!! As much as I’ve loved Mario Kart since the original, I just can’t see where £80 of value comes in, especially since Nintendo’s online infrastructure is so poor, and the Switch 2 presentation has done nothing to make me think online play will be any better than it currently is. That leaves me look at the best part of £100 for a game I’ll only ever play solo. Absolutely struggling to justify that to myself.

Re: Talking Point: Assassin's Creed Fans, Do You Think Feudal Japan Will Live Up To The Hype?

ChopperCampbell

I haven’t really been all that interested if truth be told. What I liked about earlier Assassin’s Creed games was going to time periods rarely touch in video games, such as the Middle-East during the Crusades, Renaissance Italy, the American and French Revolutions.

Another game set in feudal Japan, a time dozens of other games have featured, just isn’t as interesting to me.

Re: Random: Xbox Fans Want Microsoft To Bring Back 'Snap Mode' On Series X And S

ChopperCampbell

@themightyant yep, I’m pretty sure that the Xbox One had 8GB of RAM in total, and Snap, other background apps and the dashboard continually hogged 3GB of that, so the console lost a tonne of power that could have been used on games. That and it used DDR3 instead of GDDR5 (which the PS4 used) which is why things like Dark Souls 3 were much lower resolution on the XB1

Re: Elden Ring Nightreign Continues The Saga On Xbox This May

ChopperCampbell

@Kaloudz Dark Souls 3 is awesome (as are the other two) but can be quite tricky at some points. There is a summon system which is similar to Elden Ring, so if you have a co-op partner you can play through together. Only issue with random summons at boss fights is that there are far less people playing now, so chances of a decent partner will have decreased since launch.

Re: Surprise! Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Launches Today On Xbox Game Pass

ChopperCampbell

@Kaloudz the version you currently have from Game Pass is Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma, which is an updated port of the PS3 version of NG:2 which was originally an Xbox 360 game. From the trailer, this new Black version appears to be a complete remake of NG:2, judging by the fact it’s got the Unreal 5 engine mentioned in the trailer.

Re: GTA 6 Raising Prices To '$80 Or Even $100' Could Cause Industry To Follow Suit, Says Analyst

ChopperCampbell

Pretty sure I read that GTAVI is projected to make over $1 billion in pre-orders alone, and that’s before anyone mentioned these possible price rises. If these price hikes turn out to be true they can take a run and jump. I’ve no interest in GTA Online, so can wait for a massive sale before I play the single-player, and that’s if I even bother at that point.

Re: Cities: Skylines 2 Dev Struggling To Get Xbox Version Running For Game Pass Release

ChopperCampbell

I’ve played a fair bit of C:S2 on PC, and despite a year having passed since launch it’s still as rough as a badgers rear end. Not as bad as launch, but still not where it needs to be.
On the plus-side, the French, German and UK creator content packs have just launched and are awesome, so hopefully if they can get the game ported to consoles they can add them ASAP as they are game-changers.

Re: Black Ops 6 Biggest Ever Call Of Duty Launch Month, According To Activision

ChopperCampbell

It’s the first COD I’ve played since the original Modern Warfare 2 way back in 2009.
Thoroughly enjoying it. Had a great time with the beta, and I’ve spent more hours than I care to admit getting trampled in the multiplayer and zombies since launch. Ive only done a few single player missions, but I already like the variety between stealth and all-out carnage.
Already have GPU stacked for a few years to come, so laid the extra £30 to get the all-bells-and-whistles edition (or whatever it’s called) and haven’t regretted it for a second.
