Awesome. I’ve just finished my second play through of Control, and reinstalled Alan Wake to run through the DLC’s, so by the time I’ve done that I’ll be able to get started fully on Alan Wake 2 which I’ve been holding off on.

@UndyingInsurgent95 I was going to make the exact same comment. The failure to provide the DLC for KOTOR2 and the debacle of the Battlefront remasters are enough to convince me to hold onto my cash.

I’ve got the Hyperkin Duke, and the Xenon (their remake of the 360 controller) so I’ll definitely be getting this one too. Love them for a bit of retro gaming.

Instead of mucking about using additionally services like GeFore Now, you could always just mirror your PC display to the Xbox by using the Wireless Display app from the Xbox store.

@OldGamer999 the 60fps was a game changer. I hated the initial release version, it just seemed incredibly janky and put me off right away. I gave it another try once the 60fps patch came out and actually enjoyed the game. As I’ve said on other posts, it’s not a great game (and certainly not the AAAA type game it was hyped up to be pre-launch) but a solid 7/10 with potential to be improved further. Sad to see that there won’t be any further updates.

Nice, I’ll give this another shot. Right after I manage to put down Fallout 76. And after the new patch for Starfield comes out and I play through that.

I’ll be honest, I hated it at launch, but tried again after the 60fps update and actually quite enjoyed it. It’s not great by any means, but a solid 7/10.

@BleedingDreamer I’ve only used it infrequently, but it allows cross-platform chat, whereas the Xbox dashboard only allows chat between players on Xbox (and possibly PC, though I’ve never tried). It’s great if you’re playing something like Rocket League, with some players on Xbox, and on PlayStation, Switch etc.

I need to go back and finish this. The Mantis totally destroyed me, and I didn’t want to trigger the last part of the story before I put him down!!

@Beetlebum91 I never even got that far. Started the tutorial for the nostalgia of it all, realised that the option to invert the y-axis had been removed, and gave up. Thirty-five or more years of playing with inverted means this game is currently unplayable for me.

They’ve removed the ability to invert the y-axis for aiming, making the game completely unplayable for me! Booted up the originals and the option is there, so why they would remove that particular option is totally beyond me.
Think I’ll be applying for a refund as this is unbelievably poor.

So glad I didn’t pick up Dead Island 2 in the sale a couple of weeks back! Downloading it now.

@pip_muzz thank God I’m not the only one who enjoyed the middle trilogy. I skipped the original trilogy, so Legend, Anniversary and Underworld were the ones I put most time into, especially Underworld. 2013 reboot trilogy was good too though.

Been moving to digital since 360 days, and fully digital since Xbox One launch. The few physical games I have left are the ones that are not available digitally. Currently sitting with 1123 installed digital games on my Series X.

Saw this last night and immediately text my brother to get him to buy it. He’s never played any of them, but enjoyed the Spider-man games on PS4/5. Personally, I think these were better games than Spider-man (which were unquestionable good games) and I prefer Batman as a character.

I was playing this to get my daily achievements for Bing Rewards (before they were totally nerfed) and ended up quite enjoying Redfall. It’s not a brilliant game by any means, but it’s certainly not the worst game I’ve played this year either.

I’ve just gone back to finish the first Alan Wake, and despite really liking the look of this sequel I’ve decided to play through Control again first as I never played the DLCs for it. Hopefully by the time I finish Control all the major bugs in AW2 will be squashed.

@__jamiie it’s a survival/base-builder exploration game in a Honey I Shrunk The Kids skin. And it’s fantastic!

I must have put over a thousand hours into the first one, and despite the lukewarm reception this sequel has gotten so far, I’m confident it will eventually be just as good.

I’ve been watching the developer diaries and numerous content creators since this was first announced and so far I’ve had mixed feelings.
On one made it’s easy to see the potential there and I ultimately feel it could be amazing eventually.
On the other hand, the streamers playing it a week from launch have all noted that they are still using beta builds, and there does appear to be some jank and weird choices regarding which features have been brought forward and which have been dropped.
I’ll be giving it a go on PC GamePass on the wife’s PC when she’s at work, but I’d rather play on console with my keyboard and mouse like I did the original.

I got mine! Should have kept the Day One controller in better condition though, ended up developing massive stick drift and ultimately became unusable. Sad times.

@FraserG Cities: Skylines Remastered also has M&K support, though it was pretty ropey when I last tried it back at release.

26 days before release and they suddenly realise it needs another six months of work, at the PC version sudden needs a massive spike in the minimum system requirements.
I love the first C:S but I’ve a feeling this game has been far too rushed, and the creator videos I’ve seen online have done nothing to change my mind.

@Kaloudz pretty much. It increases the peripheral vision so you see a wider angle. Gets a bit nauseating for me if it’s too high though, the middle of the screen seems to turn to fast. If there is a FOV slider I generally set it to around 110 degrees.

I loved From Dust when it was released. Strange mix of God-sim and Lemmings. Definitely recommended for anyone who hasn’t tried it.

Couldn’t have got the timing better if I tried. Had a blast through Turok 2 last week, and afterwards did a search to see if there was any chance of 3 getting remastered. Nothing was confirmed but there where rumours, so I went out and got Turok Evolution and the 360 Turok reboot.

Can’t wait to get it downloaded. Doesn’t appear to be in the store yet, been refreshing every two or three minutes.

@DennisReynolds while it would be nice to have all these games available forever, I don’t agree that Microsoft, Sony etc should be the ones responsible for preserving games from third parties. Was it not just recently that Activision claimed that they couldn’t find the code for the Transformers games as they couldn’t remember which PC they were saved on? Surely it should be the responsibility of the rights holders to preserve the source code for the games, not the platform holders?

@Spider-Kev I think I must have been three quarters of the way through it about five years ago before it got lost in the backlog. Recently got it fairly cheap on the Switch, plus I wanted to go back to my old save now that the X|S version was out. With this update I can enjoy it in 60fps on the TV, and still chip away at it on the Switch on a quite night shift.

Most important part of this update for me is they’ve finally added cross-progression between Xbox and Switch.

@Grail_Quest is this a list you’ve compiled yourself, or is it laid out in a challenge somewhere? Reason I’m asking is that it sounds like a good idea but I don’t have the patience to make up my own list first.

This is my sort of game, but the reviews haven’t been great for the PC version. I’ll likely pick this up in a sale somewhere down the line.

I’ve got this already so I’ll make sure I’ve got my DLC downloaded before it’s removed. Once upon a time I had SC4 and the Yoda & Darth Vader DLC characters, but later sold the game and deleted it from my hard drive.

Fast forward a few years and I bought it again for nostalgia but the DLC is no longer listed, and I’m not prepared to sift through 15+ years of digital purchase history to re-download them.

I’m fully prepared to lose months of my life to this game. Can’t wait!

Aw man!! This update means I’m about to loose another few dozen hours of my life building up my base and fighting all manner of terrifying insects!!

Seems to be becoming a bit of trend where games on the Xbox, which is supposedly more powerful, run worse than the PS5.

@Daaan14 I struggled to get into Alan Wake and never finished Quantum Break, but Control was absolutely amazing. Bit of a slow start but fantastic after you unlock a few powers.

None of those game’s particularly appeal to me as I’ve never been a fan of JRPG’s.
For those who only have an Xbox though its disappointing that Square seems to have all but given up on the console. I would have thought the sales they do make, even if the numbers aren’t huge, would be enough to cover the cost of porting it to Xbox, and potentially generate more sales further down the line once players know their console of choice will continue to be supported?

Fantastic news. I’ve fallen away from Cities: Skylines recently as the nine tile limit was becoming more unbearable with each expansion.
I’ve got big plans for the twenty-five tile play space!

@The_Pixel_King On top of that, do the daily challenges on rewards.bing.com, and also the daily searches on Bing (I use the Bing app on my phone but you can use the console app) and Microsoft Edge (I use the console, but sometimes use the Edge app on my iPhone, where I have Bing set as the default search engine) and that will be another 162 points per day.
My method is to do single letter searches on Edge on the console (search a, then search b, then c and so on) then switch to my phone and search aa, then bb, cc, and so on. Takes a few minutes tops.

@The_Pixel_King if you have a PC or laptop log into the Xbox app on that too. On the Xbox app (phone, PC or laptop) there are always four daily challenges. One is play one game of Jewel (it’s built into the app so doesn’t need to be downloaded) and the other is open the app. These two can be completed regardless of with one of the apps you open and play Jewel on.
The important two are play a game on PC, and play a game with friends on PC challenges. If you have a PC/laptop download Age of Empires 1, launch the game and head to the multiplayer. You might need to refresh the list of lobbies but there are always dozens of lobbies where you can join and then just sit until both challenges unlock. If you have linked your social media account (can be done in any Xbox app) and have at least seven friends on your Xbox profile these four challenges will net you about 300 points every single day.

How many folk here do their daily, weekly and monthly searches and activities to redeem Microsoft Points? I’ve been doing them for years and I have never had to pay for a day of Game Pass for either myself or my son, and I’m subbed until September 2024.
Seriously if you aren’t taking advantage of this, why not!!?

I’m excited to replay Goldeneye, but like @grumpypotato said there’s definitely an element of rose-tinted glasses. Honestly I’m not hopeful that it will hold up particularly well now gameplay-wise after twenty five years of the genre being iterated on and improved. At least the Xbox version will seemingly get a fresh coat of paint and if it looks anything like the Perfect Dark remaster it’ll be fine.

I’ve spent many more hours than I’m comfortable admitting playing Grounded since the 1.0 release. I’d dabbled in it during early access, but I’m amazed at how much they’ve expanded the garden area and all the new creatures and building options.
I’m a bit of a sucker for base-building too so it’s been great going from a wee tent to three-storey mansion containing a tower with zip-lines to all the other parts of the garden. Good times!

Age of Empires looks like the sort of game I’d burn away hundreds of hours on, but despite having them on Game Pass on PC I’ve never really tried them (too much of a struggle to get the wife off World of Warcraft). Really looking forward to this and IV coming to console.

@Dr_Luigi I’ve bought tons of stuff from them, games, DLC and subscriptions. Never had any issues, in fact everything has always gone smoothly
