I thought Smart Delivery was the phrase for intergenerational games with the relevant version for each console or am I mistaken or reading this wrong?

If i get the Game Pass App (beta) on my phone and get the £1 Game Pass Ultimate trial for the month, will I also need Live Gold?
Obviously I'd need to set up an Xbox account I'd guess?
£1 for a month would be a fantastic demo for me as a PS person to try some of the xbox exclusives out.
