Project xCloud Isn't The Official Name Of Xbox's Game Streaming Service

Project xCloud is officially coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at no extra charge this September, but according to Xbox boss Phil Spencer, that won't actually be the official name of it.

Speaking to The Verge, Spencer revealed that a final name hasn't been determined for the game streaming service:

“This isn’t the official name, but you should think about it as Game Pass streaming or Xbox streaming, something like that. We actually don’t have the final name just yet, but it won’t be Project xCloud.”

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to play over 100 Xbox Game Pass titles on their phone or tablet when the service officially launches in September (it's currently in Preview), but Spencer says the team will speak more specifically about which mobile devices will be supported over the next couple of months.

The Xbox boss also reiterated that the goal is to ultimately bring xCloud "to every screen that someone can stream games to," with the service set to expand over time.
