Metal slug is the only one I played. I've owned Spyro for a long time, and the others aren't my style (I may try 9 Sols). But there was something for everyone this month
@dskatter Yes, I ordered Prince of Persia disc for 15 usd and saw sand land for 20 on Amazon. Almost got Sand Land but did Infinite Wealth for 25 instead. Doubt I have time for LaDIW, let alone both
I really was looking forward to this game but when I heard it was largely stealth based I held off, just not my sort of gameplay. This sounds more like Ghost of Tsushima where for most missions if you fail at stealth it is no big deal, and I am very interested again, will probably pick it up soon! Amazing how much post launch support this got. With hindsight, wish they had just delayed it and launched this way
Not sure I'll have time to try it, but exciting the Obelisk game has an early trial. Was that one a featured indie partnership with MS? I feel like it was on my radar, but maybe confusing it with something else
Did the original have a character using a drunken style? When this franchise is mentioned all that comes to mind is an old man with a liquor jug on his thumb. Don't know if I have that right though. But, either way good for them and fans of the series!
After hearing preview thoughts from various sources (especially Kinda Funny Gamescast which had a good episode on it), I am not super excited for Indy, as I am not sure the gameplay is for me, but will definitely try it out. I may tryStalker2 to see if it clicks for me, but flight sim is not for me
Awesome! I had in my head that this was a GP game but when It was announced without mention of GP I thought I must be wrong, or things changed. This is great news, I love tactics titles and was debating what to play next.
@IGN_Commenter very similar for me. I feel like a lot of the smaller games and Indies debut on Switch, so I get them there. I generally use my xbox series s for gamepass and the occasional sale game. PS5 for exclusives (so far, just 2) and occasional disc based games on sale
@Darylb88 I have heard conjecture on a podcast I listen to. It makes sense to move it, but maybe they worry if they keep making changes that makes it look like they don't have faith. I really look forward to Avowed, it sounds like my type of game
@somnambulance thanks for the clarification. Not disagreeing that this did not make waves, but it is still on my list. Personally I'd like to see it show up on gamepass, or may pick up in a sale.
Games? Pass. Not a great couple of weeks for me. I liked Inscryption but won't be restarting it on GP (played on ps4). None of the others are for me. Maybe I'll try sifu, because it's there. Will keep on with wargroove 2 and other previous month offerings
I do wish the 3 could come up with 1 standard for the buttons. I don't know if they are all slightly different for patent reasons or stubbornness but it messes me up when I switch between systems. Maybe my brain is just not flexible enough
@Fiendish-Beaver I very much agree with you. I think the strength of the service in the past has been volume, so I was always assured of something new to check out that might be of interest. Focus on fewer but bigger games decreases chance any will interest me. Right now, only Indy for the next few months, and I am not exactly excited for it, just the only one I plan to download.
However, I realize I am probably in the minority on this, as there have definitely been people vocal about wanting bigger games and less indies
I will probably turn off my auto renew and see how things go, but I am stacked til spring so plenty of time to change my mind
@abe_hikura one point I'll quibble over, is MS not competing with Sony on console exclusives. MS doesn't sign a lot of exclusives deals in the AAA space, it buys the companies (e.g., Bethesda). That has to slow down after ActiBlizz of course, and they then made the shift to cross Plat publishing over exclusives. So my point is kind of blunted. But I wanted to reply, I guess?
The Ultimate perk of having many exciting games in the future is one I have been enjoying for some time, and the titles included have remained very consistent : )
@LastSaneManOnEarth I can't tell if you are being serious or sarcastic when you say they are removing redundant positions, same as last time? I guess whoever was previously responsible for identifying the redundant positions missed 600 or so the first time. That's a heck of an HR department, as many people seem to guess are the types of redundant positions in question. Although, ActiBlizz did need to deal with a lot of HR complaints, so, maybe?
I feel like Sony showed the 3 or so best games they have which you already played if you were interested, running how they were advertised they should have run on the 5, with the promise of... maybe 3 new games that run like that until this gen ends, that would run just fine on my 5. Not very enticing
Hmm, maybe it's a silent exclusivity deal where they don't market the product and instead create an odd situation and let the internet do all the work in creating viral buzz. Everybody is talking about it, without a booth or ad. Saves advertising budget. I look forward to seeing web banner ads in the future just be blank, once this catches on
Nothing for me in what has been announced so far, so will be hoping for some other stuff while continuing with Dungeons of Hinterburg and other past offerings. Plus Astro Bot coming soon on PS, one of the rare times I have pre-ordered something
Voidtrain looks interesting! I'll definitely check that out, along with Indy and the Lost in Random game. The others are not my bag, although I may download goat sim for my son, we played the original a bit
Has anyone played steel rising? It is frequently on sale and looks interesting, but I'm not good at Soulslikes. Is it more Spoulslike or action - does it have difficulty settings or a way to grind if I struggle? And most importantly, is it fun?
@Blinx yes, the creator has been quoted about the poor sales. Which is too bad, but not unexpected, there being just so much competition these days. I have the original on ps3 but never finished it, and may pick up the remaster here, to see if it holds up and if I've gotten smarter: )
@MrFrosty I know what you mean, but I've done it a couple of times. With Nobody Saves the World, I enjoyed the game via GP and decided to send a few bucks direct to the devs (sort of, bur you get what I mean). I played it a bit. Game eventually left the service. I'm fine, no buyers remorse. I also bought dlc for physical copy of Spiderman, and later gave the game to a friend. For me it is fine because I rarely replay anything, and I know that when I make the purchase. It was always going to be a 1 time experience. If you are a big replayer, you probably want to buy rather than GP anyway. Whatever you decide, hope you enjoy the game!
Dustborn looks interesting. I have it wishlisted, but will wait on reviews and probably a sale. Not that the game isn't worth whatever full price is, I'm just cheap
McPixel 3 might be a good addition to this list. Not sure how it compares in total time, but achievements are generally not hard to get. I got all but a few without actively trying. I used it as a wind down game that also netted achievements toward the rewards points daily quests
Started Ava today. I like it! It is not exactly what I expected. I expected something like pokemon snap or maybe monster sanctuary, but it is not very similar to either. A bit of a surprise, and enjoyable so far
@theduckofdeath Man, I really liked the Blockbuster hybrid mail/store system. I had forgotten about that until I saw your post.
I think both Gamefly and Gamepass have merit, depending on the type of games you play and the pace you play at. For me, having 2 at a time would be fine, playing 1 while the other is in transit. But I also like the buffet style of gamepass, and generally the types of games it serves up, so it works for me
@user0 I voted non issue because there are already ads on the home screen which I ignore. What they are advertising - the ad content - is irrelevant to me. I'm slightly more likely to go to McDonald's than play COD, honestly, so I guess I prefer it, even. Placement creeping into other area is a different issue I do agree that aggressive marketing and inserting ads everywhere as a general thing is bad. But I did not see that in the question
Realistically I don't have time to play more than Ava and some backlog, but that is a disappointing couple of weeks. Crash is nice, but it's a constant sale item, a dated remaster of dated games that should be considered back catalog anyway after the acquisition, not a new drop. Mafia, I have no idea, but seems like a similar case of dated remaster always on sale - maybe I am wrong, as I have no interesti n the franchise so they blur together. I was hoping for a fun surprise, like Pepper Grinder day 1 availability. But Ava is still a win, was looking forward to it
I don't play COD games, just not my thing. So if that ends up being it, I will be disappointed. I have no faith Indy or Towerbourne will release this year either, but I am optimistic something from xbox will come out that I like, or 3rd party gamepass fills the void. I've been a gamepass fan for a while, but starting to get cautious there with the confusion over Heist 2 being on it or not, price hike, shifting release dates, marketing ActiBlizz older titles as "new on game pass," as in my opinion they are back catalog and should not be considered as new content, just made available like all the other back catalog. The value proposition is starting to slip for me personally
