South of Midnight is such a fantastic game, sure the combat could be better, but the story is so engrossing, the art design is unique and really well done, and the music better win an award for best music this year, because it is absolutely phenomenal.
I’m about halfway through South of Midnight, while the combat could be better, I’m adoring the world and story. I’ll keep continuing on with that journey. I’ve also been playing Minecraft a good amount. I couldn’t stand it for the longest time, I saw why people loved it, but it wasn’t for me. Unfortunately, my son fell in love with it and constantly asked me to play, but I’d only play every now and then. I went to play South of Midnight the other day and it had a huge update so I had to wait, I decided to give Minecraft one last try on Survival and I loved it. It finally clicked and I saw why everyone enjoyed it so much.
@Kaloudz I’m from the United States, I think it’d be an impossible task to get people to watch sports quietly or get them to just jazz hands at games. Try that and they’ll start firing guns in the air. 😂
@Kaloudz it’ll be a sad world we live in for sure. Man, sports where everyone sat silently watching would be so unsettling, though it might help with the drunk idiots. 😂
@Kaloudz I’m with you. If the most of the theater is doing it and having fun then I’m all for it. If it was just a very small group distracting and disrupting everyone that’s entirely different. It’s Minecraft, not Oppenheimer have your fun people!
I hit day five and I’m loving it, so far. I don’t play a ton of puzzle games, but I’d say it’s my favorite since Portal 2 so far. With that said, it is absolutely not a game for everyone.
@Kaloudz I completely agree. The theater my son and I were in was going nuts. The woman next to me was constantly yelling and cheering, normally I’d be annoyed, but I just let her have her fun and she most certainly did.
I took my son to see this and the theater was nuts, I never would have expected a movie based around Minecraft being the craziest theater experience I’ve ever had.
My wife and I played through Myst together, we took notes, sorted through the puzzles together, and had a lot of trial and error. I think this will be a great one to play like that again.
I’m not a Minecraft fan and the trailers did nothing for me, but my son is really excited to see it and I’m excited to spend the time with him. If nothing else I’ll enjoy the time with him.
That is a god awful sound, isn’t ASMR supposed to be soothing? I get that this game just isn’t for me, but usually I can at least see the appeal in games that aren’t.
I had to pick “Other,” so they can acquire Child of Light and I can finally get a second game. Otherwise, Tom Clancy, maybe we can finally get new Splinter Cell.
This is a rare weekend that I actually get a good amount of gaming time. I’ll continue making my way through Tails of Iron and Avowed. I also grabbed Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, so I’ll spend some time with that. Finally, I randomly decided to throw on Burnout Paradise last night. I’m not much of a race game fan but I enjoy Burnout, I was having a great time with it last night.
@Fiendish-Beaver you’re arguing with a country that named a sport “football” that has little to do with feet and the sport that has EVERYTHING to do with feet they call “soccer.” Best not to dwell on such things.
(I’m an American, we have an annoying knack for wanting to do things differently.”
I’ve been loving Turbo Overkill on Steam Deck. Colin was talking about it on Sacred Symbols and I thought it sounded great. I managed to get it for under $4 on CD Keys. I might also play some Avowed if I get a chance after the kids go to bed.
@Kaloudz you’re not kidding, I’ll be in the middle of cooking dinner or doing the dishes, my wife will be sitting next to the kids and they’ll come into the kitchen to ask me for something. Really? Mommy is right there and she’ll gladly help you! Then, of course, if I am the one there offering help it’s usually, “I want mommy!” or “No! Mommy do it!” As far as sickness goes, I don’t know what you’re talking about, I love when I’m holding my daughter and she is facing away from me but the second she has to sneeze she turns to do it directly into my face and/or open mouth. It’s great! Then of course, you and your significant other get sick after by the kids feel better, so it’s not like you get to rest or relax because they feel better and want everything. My wife gets mad at me because I’m not the “I’m sick, so I’m dying and this is the end of the world type,” I’m the “Sigh, I’m sick, dishes need to get done, dinner needs to get made, kids need help with homework,” kind of person. She likes that I’m not the typical guy that reverts to being a child when I’m sick but she hates that I won’t rest when I really need it. You know what though, seeing my kids grow and shape their personalities is awesome. My son and I went to get haircuts yesterday and as we were leaving this random gentleman said, “You have great kids. They’re so well behaved.” There’s very few feelings better than that as a parent because it reassures you that you’re doing your best.
@16BitHero @Kaloudz this has been the best online interaction I’ve had in quite a while! Roblox is a terrifying place, my son will live without it, I don’t trust people enough to let him on that.
Rare Replay is one of the most underrated bundles in gaming. There’s so many incredible games on there for such a low price, especially if you have Game Pass.
I can absolutely confirm that my kids are sleep terrorists. I can get five hours a night max between getting the kids to bed and what time I get up, it is VERY rare that I get that thanks to my kids waking me most nights. Most of my gaming these days is on Steam Deck or I force myself to stay up on weekends just to get some game time in. But they’re worth the exhaustion and missing of my favorite hobby.
I lucked out and was able to pick out my daughter’s name, Maya, named after my favorite Borderlands character and, even though the name was picked before I learned this, a character in my favorite piece of fiction Stormlight Archive.
(Also, four middle names is wild!)
@Kaloudz @Kaloudz I wish I knew so I could give you an answer. My son has asked about Roblox a few times but there’s no chance in hell I’m letting him play that. Otherwise I just have a tendency to grab games on Game Pass I’m pretty sure he’ll enjoy, most of the time I’m right.
@Kaloudz I bought it at release and messed around with it a bit here and there. I really should get back into it, there’s so many great games on there. Plus, I can introduce my kids to more of the classics. I love that they aren’t bias against games just because they’re old or don’t look as good as modern games. My seven year old will play anything I recommend him, my four year old will play anything her brother plays. 😂
@Kaloudz oh man, so many wonderful wasted nights with friends playing Perfect Dark’s multiplayer. Simpler times when games didn’t take 100 hours to beat and there weren’t enough tutorials to fill the credits of a college degree. 🤣
@Kaloudz I’m glad I’m not alone on that one. I always love the idea of those games but then I start them and drop them pretty quick. I don’t have the mental fortitude to deep dive into them to figure them out. I was pretty good with Midnight Suns but every time I had to go to the abbey I’d get bored and stop playing for too long so I’d have to keep relearning the game.
@Kaloudz that’s honestly my biggest concern. I don’t get enough game time to deal with a bunch of complicated systems to learn, that’s why I stick with mindlessly dismantling demons in games like Doom instead.
I’m tempted by this one. I haven’t played a game in this genre since Rollercoaster Tycoon on 360. It’s not usually my cup of tea, but every now and then one grabs my attention.
@Kaloudz I’m not a poker player whatsoever, but I gave this a try because of all of the praise it was getting. It’s a fantastic game, it’s the poster child of “just one more round.”
@Medic_alert I’m right there with you, it’s somehow nothing special, but really great at the same time. My biggest complaint is that enemies don’t repopulate because the combat is easily the best part and I’d really like to be able to just run around grinding.
I started Drova Forsaken Kin on my Steam Deck this week. It’s such an incredible game, the combat is fun, I love the leveling system, the world is well thought out, it’s gorgeous, the story is intriguing, and it has some pretty good humor (looking at you dog that stole my meat while I was petting you). I highly recommend it if you enjoy tough RPGs.
This looks like the Gundam game I’ve always wanted but never got (from the ones I’ve tried). My concern is there was no mention of a solo game made, if it’s multiplayer only I have no interest in this.
@OnePunchDante I meant to say it’s considered to be an awful game. I’m with you, I love it. It has its jankiness, but that’s part of the fun with it. When I want something mindless to jump into just to have fun, that’s one of my main go to games. I haven’t tried co-op yet, most people I game with either hate it or haven’t played it.
I’m playing a good amount this weekend. My main focus is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. I’ve been playing Lies of P on Steam Deck. I also fired up Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, which plays as beautifully as I remember. Finally, I played a game that i believe I’m the only person on the planet that enjoys it, Crackdown 3. It’s considered an awful game, but I have fun every time I play it.
I finally sat down and spent more than fifteen minutes at a time with Indy, it’s a really fun game. I also started Kingdom Come Deliverance recently, so I’ll be playing that as well. It’s realism is something that would normally put me off of a game, but it really works with KCD.

@RiverGenie if South of Midnight doesn’t win an award for best music then people have piss poor taste or something truly special came along!
