Re: Talking Point: What Do You Expect To See From Microsoft's Update On The Future Of Xbox?

I think anyway you look at it the brand has taken a beating over this. Will be hard to sell consoles when, at the least, most of their 1ST party studios will port to Playstation. Exclusives have been an overall weak point for 2 generations. Gatekeeping a few of them won't move consoles. Indies will consider skipping the box altogether due to budget constraints. They have to either pick one or the other. All in on the brand as a console manufacturer or all out and strictly 3rd party dev and publisher. Anyway you look at it the silence is deafening and the brand is in trouble.

I hope they have some single player focused new IPs...this gen wasn't great for their in house devs but i really hope whatever Double Fine is doing is awesome and that the Fable reboot is great. That alone would firmly make me a day one XsX. The BC aspect is cool and all but i bought less for Xbox this gen than any other so it doesn't affect me as much. But i always love an MCC run and RB6V

I feel like Phil knew if he failed that the "failure of Xbox" would be pinned on him directly. He took a smart approach for the most part. They didnt build Rome in a day kind of thinking. If he can get their 1st party studios back on track. Release a killer Halo (5 was trash sorry. Mp was great though), release a killer FABLE and let the new acquisitions (Double Fine etc.) take some risks and create some new IPs they should be good. The online structure has basically always been sound, Gamepass is a great feature and the communication is pretty good. Killer games Phil. I think he knows this

Re: Sony Reveals PlayStation Now Has 2.2 Million Subscribers, But Where Does That Leave Project xCloud?

Nyne11Tyme

@KelticDevil i didnt say the numbers were close. I said it didnt make sense for Sony to pay thru the nose or offer the service at a loss (thru promos) because they obviously dont need too and the PSNOW service, with much less subs, is much more profitable and that has been financially reported by places like WSJ and others. I also said Gamepass is a great service so im not sure what the complaining is all about. Its probably a good thing MS made such poor decisions this gen and took a decided back seat because gamepass as it exists today might not have happened.

@KelticDevil yea but part of the reason gamepass has so many subs is because of 1. Sales (i even had it when it was $1) 2. Xbox has been in faraway 3rd all gen and needed a boost. Im sure the cost of gamepass to MS and Xbox is very high.
Its a great service dont get me wrong. But im sure Xbox paid thru the nose and still is to offer what they are offering. Why would Sony or Nintendo follow suit if they continue to be so popular because of what they already offer?
