Never got into retro gaming. I agree with most, older games like this should stay in the past. In my opinion, ports should be a PC only thing. Why port an older game on console, when the port will fade out after the console ends. For example, say there was a port for Goldeneye for the GameCube(idk if there was or not) and after the GameCube ended, are the buyers of said port going to play Goldeneye on GameCube or N64, 20-30 years later? As for retro gaming, most I’ve seen will play it on the original platform. Now ported to PC, I think you’d have it longer. So console ports to me, are “cash grabs”. But I guess that’s mostly because I played/owned it when it was new. So the newer generations would kinda miss out, but let’s be honest, how many new generation gamers care to play retro games?
@dcamp335 from what was stated I think back in 2021? There’s zombie bears too. Now we just need lions and tigers and a zombie Dorothy. I guess her little dog too…
From SoD 2 success, and the amount of attention it garnished for gamepass, and the overwhelmingly hype for SoD 3, I highly doubt it’ll get cancelled. But it’s definitely a mid-late 2027 release
@GameOverScreen yeah unfortunately Xbox hasn’t been doing well these past two years. If not for gamepass, I’m fairly certain it would have tanked. But this year and next are huge gaming years, hopefully Xbox capitalizes on it going forward
@Markatron84 I agree, I never go by reviews for games that are “fresh”. To me those reviews carry next to no weight because even if you got the creator code to play a week early, not often is that enough time to test the game, and besides, how can you test an online game early access without having servers fully live to see how they hold up to lots of players? Early reviews remind me of food critics who take one bite and feel it’s enough for a full review. Give it time, at least two weeks, test it thoroughly, then do your review.
“Growth” or “Progression” is what the people want. As reading this post, I’m not sure that’s still getting addressed. Instead of giving you an S-tier car, we’ll give you an A-tier and you’ll have to spend $250k to max out. Instead of starting with basic clunkers(I mean who wants that right?) we’re still getting high end vehicles from the rip. Mostly the complaint was, we would love to start with basic everyday vehicles, and “gradually” move into super/hypercar territory. I guess similar feelings to racing sims, although this is an arcade, we do tend to get the higher end vehicles too early. As someone stated, being called the “superstar” on entry and giving the keys to basically anything from the start just felt, weak?
“Throughout that journey, Japan is yours to explore at your own pace. Exploration is at the heart of Forza Horizon 6, and everything you find on your road trip in Japan is something for you to collect: cars, houses, landmarks, mascots, and more – it’s all tracked in your Collection Journal.“ Still sounds the same as the last 2-3. But don’t get me wrong, I’ll still love it. Played and completed every Forza, a ton of other series like Gran Turismo, Project Cars, Need For Speed etc. probably about 30-40 if not more. I’ll definitely get butt cramps playing this one too
B for me. I guess that’s mostly because I knew what to expect. Fable is a strong game and it’ll be difficult to screw that up especially with everything they’ve been putting in. Forza will be great, they returned some older features like car meets plus doing the proper thing like looking into the culture of the area, without guessing. Playground has done great work over the years and I believe these two games can be game of the year for two categories. As from memory, I don’t think a company has done that, two games at once, both winning. We’ll just have to wait and see. Beast has been on my radar so nothing “new” in my eyes that I didn’t already know. Kiln can be a secret gem, games like this remind me of games like Party Animals(I think it’s called), Human Fall Flat, Among Us. These games were being passed over initially, until content creators got ahold of them, then popularity exploded. Kiln could be another one. I guess because I knew what to expect, I was disappointed in the secret drop. I knew that was mentioned but I had hoped for a different game or maybe a 5th. The game in question was State of Decay 3. I had really hoped for that, but because of everything else being expected and no SoD 3, I give the showcase a B.
I’ve made a strong claim that Fable is a 2027 release, as per standard larger hyped games tend to be delayed a couple months after initial release date. Even if they said August 2026, you can bet on early 2027 delay. Forza has been usually the end of the year, they’ll most likely stick with that. Being Forza doesn’t have any competition as for racing games go, and it’s a long awaited version. It can release Oct-Dec and still do great. Holidays nor GTA will affect it. If anything, a release after GTA will be a boost. I thought I saw somewhere about Beast being launched around March or May? Couldn’t find anything.
For me about the same as the XSX. I have both current consoles and PC, and honestly between them there wasn’t much to be impressed with over the last 5 years. Each platform had its pros and cons, and naturally PC remains superior. I guess with the whole non-exclusive push, it just doesn’t have that feel anymore of wanting something over another based on its value. Xbox hasn’t been doing that great for a bit, and with everything that we know is coming, I just don’t see it being worthy of a $750+ price tag.
This year was better than last year that’s for damn sure. My list is odd and random, I know of the good ones but haven’t played them yet even though they’re installed.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers , had a great time, loved the details (especially the physics:D) and the story was well done
Robocop: Rogue City, I’m a true 80’s action guy, loved Robocop, and they used Peter Weller, it stayed true to the series
South of Midnight, born and raised in the South, I related to quite a bit here
Hogwarts: unfortunately I already owned this, but had a great time
Lost Records: Bloom & Rage: same as Hogwarts
Sniper Elite Resistance: love the series, but this game was a let down, quite a few bugs plus downgraded graphics used from #4
Star Wars Jedi Survivor: loved this one, can’t wait for part 3
@Fishmasterflex96 exactly. Xbox needs something really heavy and as of now, there’s nothing. I understand the love players have for Fable, but that’s definitely a 2027 release, they’d be foolish not to intentionally delay it for a potential GOTY. But being its business, it could be a late release, but with the lack of content shown? I just don’t see it.
Totally forgot about RE:Requiem and Onimusha. Re:R will be up there for sure but I feel Onimusha will be a slick uppercut to the top. But GTA 6 will most definitely wipe the board
@Kramlar 100% agreed. No way would I use AI for anything involving money or legal matters. Having dealt with property management, water distribution, and tax exempt BS. I use an attorney. As they told me, “there’s always that “fine print” or “gray area”, that’ll get you every time” And AI won’t save you when you’re in legal conflict.
Besides the off topic, AI has its uses. Developers using it to help create landscapes in a fantasy world can always be a plus and time saver. But using AI for character creation, voice over work, and micro transactions? That’s just greed
I’ve got a ton of time in BF6, and right now, they need to get their stuff together. Poor hit boxes, broken menus, netcode errors, game imbalances, and now this? Sheesh. Just go ahead and rename it to what it is Call of Duty: Battlefield Ops
@swedetrap I haven’t played Yotei yet, or AC:Shadows. But like you, I tire of wasting money on games that either turn out to be a flop or mediocre, so I generally rely on the masses. Let the people save me money lol.
I think the biggest reason Tsushima got the praise it did, was because of the character. And the timing of the launch was flawless. For those who may not know, or remember, Tsushima released right at the same time One Piece went into the Land of Wano arc. The sword fighting samurai story was beginning and the sword fighting MC Zoro, is none other than the MC of Tsushima. Besides the story, and the artwork, if not for those things, I can probably say it’s on par with Yotei
Condolences to the families. Especially right near the holidays, that’s just a horrible thing to go through. The games he was involved in will always be memorable, both good and bad.
But I’m going to be that guy…After seeing the crash. He was clearly speeding. Out of the tunnel, that has reduced visibility. A foolish mistake, on a public road, that could have killed many more, like perhaps a small family or something. If you’re going to drive reckless, go to the track
Is this even the right place? Considering ABK is mostly pc, minus CoD, which is dying rapidly with the AI development. I played WoW for the first 9 years, I just don’t see it coming to console. StarCraft and WarCraft games for sure can be console ported. Heroes of The Storm(which idk why it’s not already on console?) and Hearthstone another definite possibility. Plus older ip’s or remakes of older ip’s. Phil said something like he wanted to see a few of them come back, I can’t remember which ones, but those probably are being remade for current platforms. Outside of that, ABK acquisition was kind bland
Xbox will barely have anything noticeable as far as awards go. 2026 is a massive year for gamers, way too many big titles. I just don’t see Xbox getting much more than a nod/honorable mention. I love racing games, especially Forza, but racing games generally get brushed off unless there’s a special cast involved. Skreamer, if it isn’t bugged or garbage, will give Forza a strong run for the money. Gears will always have a soft spot for us, but honestly it’s slowly fading because it’s taking too long in between releases (or at least it feels that way). Fable is definitely a 2027 release. And Halo? Like why? I love Halo in its original design, but a remake or remaster? Just let it go man. I mean how many times has it been now, 3-4? Sounds like another Skyrim re-re-re-release. Clockwork looked very good, I’m hoping it does well but it’s possible it may get delayed, seems to be the norm nowadays
Was never truly a fan of retro gaming, but not everyone is the same. There are a few I’d play with friends, and that’s the old couch co-op games, stuff like Double Dragon, Battletoads, etc. I have a few friends that missed out, same as me, so from time to time we’ll play an old one. @SatinHell I’d love to see co-op games get more recognition, but as a few of the gaming company leaders stated, solo based games have a higher standing. I’m trying to think of one that made it point, I’m thinking the dude in charge of God of War. Could definitely be mistaken, but after his remark, the other companies agreed. So unfortunately we won’t get as much love towards co-op. But I find it funny how co-op and multiplayer games do so much better…odd
