We already know that Xbox Game Studios has a pretty big year planned in 2026 with the likes of Fable, Forza Horizon 6, Gears of War: E-Day and Halo: Campaign Evolved set to land next year, and now the folks over at Blizzard Entertainment sound like they're getting in on the Xbox anniversary party as well.
Speaking with Variety, Blizzard boss Johanna Faries says that the team is "gearing up for what we hope to be the biggest year yet for Blizzard". Faries goes on to say that the company "takes that statement very seriously" and that it's "a very exciting time" for the Microsoft studio.
"The teams across Blizzard entirely, as an organization, are gearing up for what we hope to be the biggest year yet for Blizzard, and we take that statement very seriously,
And if you’re a Blizzard fan or you’re curious about any of our major franchises, the teams are cooking on major swings. And I think we just have a tremendous amount of pride in what’s going to come forward, not just at BlizzCon, but even in the run up to BlizzCon here. So all hands on deck, but it’s a very exciting time."
BlizzCon 2026 goes ahead September 12-13, which means that in the run up to that event next year, it sounds like we could be hearing a lot from Blizzard's teams. Faries goes on to build hype for the year by saying that Blizzard is "investing in this iconic IP that we have across our entire portfolio, and really thinking about modernizing it, surprising and delighting our fans".
Xbox turns 25 and Blizzard turns 35 next year, and it sounds like both arms of Microsoft Gaming have plenty planned for 2026, then. We'll have to wait and see how all of this shakes out, but it's a pretty exciting time to be following all of these teams and seeing what they're cooking up for the next 12 months.
