that guy killed xbox gaming. i was 100% xbox then 150% 360 after switching when my ps2 broke and i loved the 360 more than any console up to then ,basically, and that reveal sunk xbox for me and now i main ps4 and onto ps5. series x has put life into all the xbox one exclusives i missed but still can't ever see xbox matching the heights of the 360 again.
well i wouldn't be buying them. barely any games that use next gen hardware and even less of those are good games. plus playing Tears of the kingdom shows me i don't need the cutting edge to enjoy my games if they are good games.
i don't think i would like to spend a lot of time making a game but then not have people play it. if you start making games just for the money that ms gives you to put it on gamepass but dont care if it gets played then you will start getting shovelware mobile style games all the time.
i should imagine this will mostly be down to optimisations of the engine because the digital foundy videos at the time pointed out it was cpu and ram speed that were limiting factors not being as simple as resolution drop. i got this on series x over ps5 because it ran at a proper 40 fps unlike ps5 which dropped the 30 in heavy scenes. i would be curious how the two machines perform in this new 60 mode.
i still don't understand how any seperate country's regulator has the power to block a deal. what would happen if they did it anyway if the eu and the usa ones say it is ok?
well ,amazing, no dev has ever listened at this complaint before.
not super happy with their reasons why it was made always online in the first place, seems a little selfish and short sighted. (said they want to be able to track everything players are doing all the time for metrics)
no reason why they didn't think to have all that stuff just in the mp online and keep sp as has always been.
microsoft want rid of the console becuase that is the part that isn't profitable.
i think pretty much since they started they made it clear they want it to be a streaming service with a subcription. they are slowly making it happen bit by bit.
other than the always online thing, i am not super sold on the wacky/zany style of the player characters. that kind of young, cocky ,i am super awesome attitude just grates with me and even though it looks to be able to adapt ok to playing solo not as a 4 player team it still looks heavily designed as meant to be multiplayer.
i bought loads of digital games and dlc for the 360 but didn't like the look of xboxone and switch to ps4. years later i turned on my 360 again and they had changed the way you logged in and i no longer had the email with that account either. i tried everything multiple times and couldn't get back into my account for years. just before i got my series x i tried again and after trying everything multiple times one time it somehow worked and i got it back.
this experience re-enforced all my worries and doubts about 'owning' digital content and has really put me off.
wow, just wow. feel like including a disc drive on the console was just a way to sucker me in for a purchase tbh.
well so far i think i am winning, if they sold the console to me at a loss of 100-200 dollars they haven't made any profit from me in software sales yet.
the main negative of gamepass that i can think of is related to digital only games in general and that being, in say, 10 years time none of the games will exist anymore.
i have such a massive back log of games and for the monthly price of gamepass i can buy 1-4 games to add to my backlog so it isn't for me but i can see the value.
also i can see the appeal for ms, you have a million subscribers that is like garaunteed 20 million dollers a month, easy enough to fun a few indies etc...
i feel there for sure were some games that could have had some boost on series x. lots of games with higher res got 2* to 1440 on series s and 3* to 4k on series x so i'm guessing plenty could have got two times to 1440p on series x that didn't. biggest shame they just stopped bothering. with 360 games i think i would prefer a higher res to higher frame rate to make it more playable today.
are you sure this applies to the xbox version and not just the pc version? it seems baffling if they have made this online only for single player on xbox. i think £8 is the most i have ever payed for an online only game, most i only will buy if they are £5, because frankly it is a coaster waiting to happen and i can't stand having my gaming reliant on not having any internet issues. i make the time to play a game and i would be fuming if connection issues prevented me from my enjoyment.
@BoiAster no. xbox will only be releasing the top of the top AAA tentpole games on physical. such a shame. so many smaller and quirky games get released on ps4/ps5 and i prefer the oddball diferent games to the big games most of the time. things like hi-fi rush i would equate to something like stray on ps5 so it should have a physical release but because ms is focused on changing gaming to a digital/subscription/streaming ecology they are just purposefully not releasing smaller games physically anymore. i'm so disapointed, after loving 360 and skipping xboxone i was really pleased with my series x but now i have realised they just won't be hardly any games physically released for it and i prefer ps5 for muliplatform games which seem to be the only things really releasing physically.
i felt like with redfall and hifi rush they kind of showed maybe too much, doesn't feel like they would be many surprises upon actually playing the game. a sense of discovery is one of my favourite things in games. i think they showed all the redfall bosses and even the last boss.
looked fun but this is the 3rd xbox exclusive that i would have bought that isn't a physical release. really starting to feel like i have wasted money on my series x now
seems i may have made a mistake buying my series x to go alone with my ps5, if they don't plan to release any of the xbox exclusives as physical games it will have been a waste of cash indeed.
is this game getting a physical release? this and grounded are two xbox exclusives i would like but look to only be releasing on gamepass. in fact i can't find any evidence of any xbox exclusive games with physical releases. only 3rd party games have pre orders for discs.
loved the 360 , the one was a mess. needed kinect ,cost a bomb all that online always stuff and when i actually held the pad it felt cheap and nasty next to my 360 pad. i got the ps4, and still prefer playstation now, buying the ps5 first and it being my primary console even though the same games are much cheaper on xbox. i never got round to playing most of the 360 games that got 4k enhanced and i missed a whole gen of xbox exclusives which were a few quid each by now and the eventual exclusivity of zenimax made buying a series x a good choice. the new xbox pad feels very high quality with an amazing d-pad and on a technical level apart from the hard drive it is superior to the ps5 with regard to working with hdmi 2.1 tv's. i don't like xbox's push toward a subcription instead of physical ownership and streaming instead of buying a console and it basically needs to be online always now aswell to work.
wish more titles were added but i really am disappointed with how few 360 games get a resolution boost.
you'd think out of all the ones that still run in original pixel counts at least some could have had a double to 1440p.
even a system option to double res with vrr to sort out the framerate could be ok

to be fair it is probably the fact that xbox just doesn't have any xbox only games coming out, like, at all.

was that given any more clarity?
