@Grumblevolcano Honestly it sounds exactly like Xbox back in 2017-2018. "Charm offensive" for not having much to offer, so they'd sneak codes for $5-$10 Microsoft gift cards into emails and stuff.
@Nalverus I remember playing with a guy so up his own (expletive) that he was smug about playing PUBG on Xbox One with one of those adapters to use KB/M. He was still awful and in the short time I played with him, I saw him always get slaughtered by controller players-- and not once ever got close to a chicken dinner. Still makes me laugh when I think back on it. (Also to give context, I didn't know he was using one of those until just about near the end of when I stopped playing with him.)
@Kaloudz Dusk is very good. Great soundtrack, great level and art design, nothing feels overdone or cliche. Has love for the past without taking the warts from old game design.
@TrollOfWar I'm talking people who play the games. Not sure if there will be an overlap of people that, without play anywhere, would play on a console and then jump to PC or vice versa of the exact same game. I think most games that have cross-platform play even if they don't have play anywhere already transfer sava data.
@abe_hikura Play Anywhere has it, I think, but this is adding on so that non-PA games can have it. Not quite sure on how many people will jump on it, but it's nice to have still.
There are certain games that I'm mad are unlisted, like some of the Assassin's Creed games. AC4's 360 edition is unlisted, and a few others. There might be some extra 360 COD games that also are unlisted but got BC support? I'm not exactly sure if those are disc-only or not though, if so then I can't complain since they were never on the next-gen marketplace.
There's a good few games, not related to licensing, that got yanked. I'd really like them back.
(also for the handful of people who saw my comment earlier, I removed it because upon doing research I was getting conflicting information on how some of the 360 COD games work with BC + was coming off too whiny about it.)
I question why a remake of Rayman 1... I guess I understand if they want to streamline it and make it a bit easier (it was ridiculously difficult), but it would be strange to go from a remake of 1 and hop right into 4.
Not that I'm saying I want them to remake the other two games, just that it's an odd choice.
They give it to Michael Bay, which perfectly suits the over the top, silly summer blockbuster film type stuff that COD leans in to with its marketing. Which is fine, those are fun.
...Or they go the weird route and try to make it a mix of slow political drama with tiny bursts of action here and there. Considering it's Paramount and they seem addicted to weird choices, it's very likely we're getting the latter option.
If it's not the end, it's definitely the sign of the end being near. I was skeptical, and still sort of am, on this favoring Xbox with its lower userbase, but so far so good.. so hopefully my pessimistic view on it is proven wrong.
PSA: I Am Alive, a Ubisoft game, was recently purchased by Atari. I do not know if the rights purchase includes Ubisoft delisting the 360 game, but if you have even been remotely curious about the game, I Am Alive is currently on sale for 70% off. It went from, USD prices here, $14.99 to $4.49 for this sale.
There is no confirmation on the game being delisted, and unless Atari is fine with them continuing to sell these old-gen versions (which we don't know about), there is a possibility it will get delisted within a year or so.
TL;DR - I Am Alive is currently on sale, the 360 edition may or may not continue to be sold in the future. If you've been on the fence or just want to grab it before a POTENTIAL removal, here's a fair warning!
GOG is really good. I'm surprised Xbox would team up with them when their whole thing is to rail against the system of DRM, but it's still cool. Lot of hidden gems and old favorites on GOG. Just wonder how certain games will perform, unless they've sorted out an issue with keyboard and mouse I'm not aware of. Able to plug them in to the Rog Ally or something?
@Tasuki It's the first one I've played since World at War, a friend gifted it to me. I honestly didn't care about the MP because of how generic the characters were up until the collabs.
@darkswabber James Gunn confirmed Peacemaker & Vigilante are coming to Fortnite, he announced it around the time Superman released in theaters, at San Diego Comi-Con. (Personally more hyped for Vigilante, but I've got affection for neurotic weirdos.)
@darkswabber Yes, I was hyped as hell when the leak for Gorillaz dropped. B&B too. It's like this update was tailor made for me.
Edit: Peacemaker (DC Comics) was also confirmed for Fortnite recently, too. This whole update looks specifically designed to just do unspeakable things to my wallet.
I'll be honest. I wouldn't have played nearly as much of Blops 6 as I have if it wasn't for the crossover skins. Playing as the TMNT, Jay (of & Silent Bob fame), and B&B is what brought me in.
I'm tired of generic military characters, though I imagine I'm in the minority here.
I've said it plenty of times, but this generation has really barely gotten started. The first four years was a lot of bumbling from both Xbox and Sony just banging into walls and tripping over themselves, less so Sony but they're still guilty to an extent. Only in the past year, maybe two, has it felt like THIS generation has really gotten started.
And yet, there's an unprecedented amount of support still for PS4 and Xbox One. Not every game, of course, but third parties are still supporting them to an absurd degree-- not a complaint. I have a gaming PC / Switch / Xbone and still have not found a compelling reason to upgrade my Xbox, while still using it almost every day. Prices are absurd, support is there but also still there for previous gen... Xbox has only managed to put out a handful of games this gen, of which even fewer are truly current-gen exclusive. (Up until the end of 2023, they still released Xbox One games.)
Call of Duty is STILL getting an Xbox One/PS4 release this year. Again, not complaining-- but there's really little reason to still get one of these consoles years on. It's bizarre. The first real game worthy of being on this generation will be GTA 6... just as those in charge deem the generation is "over".
I'll be honest, I only care about seeing Brutal Legend 2 from them. Everything else kind of makes me just gloss over. I know that's not fair to them, but it's how I feel.
I'm curious about Ninja Gaiden 4. Since Xbox is publishing it, does that mean it'll stay on Game Pass? Or is it a timed thing? This is one of those interesting scenarios where it's not quite clear.
I do wish he'd come back to Gears. I wholly believe Rod was the technical mastermind but Cliff was the creative heart of the original trilogy. His absense has been massively felt.
@SalaciousCrumb well we also thought Xbox and Sony would never ever release games on rival consoles, but here we are. Things change, opinions/views too.
@VoidPunk I'm not sure about the rest, but Ubisoft is known for deep discounting their games just a few months after release. That is NOT exclusive to Shadows.
Wow, they're finally starting to abandon last gen consoles. No PS4 or Xbox One? Even Pac-Man World 2 is still getting an Xbone release in September.
Very surprising, mostly because Bamco has been the most consistent supporter of last gen consoles still. Wouldn't have expected Xillia to be very demanding.
I might check in on some streams and the opening, but I'll definitely be refreshing Pure Xbox fairly often. Well written articles that summarize the big stuff is always appealing to me.
Bubsy 3D getting improvements is interesting. Control improvements won't fix a horrid game, but I wonder if that's all they're doing for it. I'm interested.. not at full price, but interested.
It was inevitable. Sad, but the game has been getting the bare minimum to keep running on Xbone for awhile. Main menu has been running at sub 20 FPS for awhile now.
I'd be surprised if the remaster were botched. Nightdive has only messed up once (check YouTube for Civvie11's "Blood: Pink on the Inside" video for that.. it was actually a real screw up) but they've had a flawless track record since that, and even before it.
Still need to buy this. Hoping we get more campaigns on the mod library too.
I have a fairly realistic expectation, maybe not for Gamescom but definitely one of the Xbox streams: an explosion of Play Anywhere additions.
I think they'll really have to sell the Ally with Play Anywhere, especially with it being compared to the Steam Deck which has a vastly larger library out of the gate without having to mess with anything.
@smoreon I might have mixed up Last Remnant and Enchanted Arms, and you're right they weren't all huge hits. The point does stand though, the 360 had a healthy selection. Especially surprising considering it was a western machine and known as the dudebro platform.
While I'm surprised this is an Xbox One release, this also looks pretty fun. I might grab it soon, I can't turn my nose up at what looks like a snowboarding capybara with a chefs hat!
@Kaloudz It's not made by an xbox owned studio, it's basically "second-party" where a third party dev is making it but it's being funded and wholly backed by Xbox.
Second-party isn't a thing but it's the closest thing to a proper term there is for something like this. I'm also very disappointed by this, but not surprised.
@smoreon That is a fair point with FF13. Despite the hype around it, the hallway sim jokes werent wrong. It was actually my first FF game and helped me get into JRPGs entirely, but the same reasons behind how it helped me approach them are also why it was derided.. so I'm in a bit of an awkward place, but I can still see the faults in it.
But my counterpoint is Microsoft's own offerings in the genre: Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, and Infinite Undiscovery (for some reason Square has publishing rights for this one, but everything I've read said Microsoft owns and funded it.) — Microsoft themselves had a huge output of JRPGs.
Not to mention the 360 being the debut of a Tales Of (Vesperia) game on an Xbox console. Or titles like Enchanted Arms, Eternal Sonata, and The Last Remnant. There are still more JRPGs I haven't listed that hit the console and did pretty well, all throughout the lifespan of the console. They kept coming, though my point is not that the 360 had the best list, but it had a healthy supply of games in the genre that were received very well. (Though Last Remnant was mixed, tbf.)
@TrollOfWar You're not wrong, that was just a Japanese thing in general. They were still getting used to HD consoles and what that meant for development. Nintendo infamously went through the same thing with the Wii U when their output slowed dramatically, around the same time actually. Not that it's an excuse, but the jump to HD really did throw off Japanese devs who were very comfortable in their groove.
I still don't know where this claim of "JRPGs became uncool" came from. If you listen to idiots like Phil Fish, sure, but he was a flash in the pan one hit wonder that let it get to his head.
Persona has steadily gained popularity since that same generation, when Persona 5 first released on PS3. JRPG's have never been "not cool", just JRPG devs who seemed ashamed to make them, like Square Enix.
The stipulation about crunch has to be a blessing and a curse. Knowing overtime is looming for a week in advance would be just as bad as going through it IMO, but I'm also catastrophically awful when it comes to dealing with stress.
@GuyinPA75 Not every game needs to be a system-stressing powerhouse. There's plenty of underwhelming AAA games that can't even harness the power properly.
@Fiendish-Beaver Quake 1, 2, and 4 have stories. They're not really groundbreaking, but a plot exists. Quake 1's plot progresses via text on screen after you finish a campaign/beat a boss.
As someone who has played this game, it is VERY fun. It's a turn based tactical game, but think of it more as you're the boss encounter. Each turtle has their own unique kit and abilities- Raph is a close range brawler who can backflip-kick enemies off rooftops, Donnie can throw down traps and push enemies away/into hazards, Mikey is a ranged lunatic with his skateboard able to attack while passing by, and Leo is a whirling katana-swinging powerhouse of death. Each turtles kit perfectly represents their character.
Each turn drops tons of enemies on you, and its up to you to figure out how to wipe them all out in that turn before more swarm you next time around. It's VERY fun, I wholeheartedly recommend it.
The presentation and game is low budget, but don't let that put you off. I LOVE it. I will probably double dip just to support Strange Scaffold.
.. also, I'm one of those hundred reviewers on Steam. You can find my review under the same name as here if you look hard enough.
@dreadful while that might help, quakecon is first and foremost about iD games. Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein. Shoving Halo in just because Microsoft owns all of them might not go over well with the audience.
But then again Bethesda has been promoting a ton of their own games with it in recent years so this argument doesn't hold up well. Yeah, they should at least give it a try one year and see if the community is positive to it.
I was REALLY hoping we'd see some more about TMNT: The Last Ronin. It's been awhile since that was announced and that's most definitely my most anticipated game from THQ right now.
Still, that disappointment aside, this had a lot of cool stuff to show. The original Gothic trilogy getting a console port? Did NOT expect that. Darksiders 4 skipping Strife's solo outing is... a choice, but I hope this game is good. I almost picked up Sacred 2 during the Xbox summer sale, so to see this is amusing too..

Still hoping we can get a Casey Jones DLC..
Re: Halo Infinite Fall Update 2025 Launches This Week, And It's Packed With 'Major Game Updates'
Re: Here's Everything That Was Revealed At The THQ Nordic Showcase 2025
I was REALLY hoping we'd see some more about TMNT: The Last Ronin. It's been awhile since that was announced and that's most definitely my most anticipated game from THQ right now.
Still, that disappointment aside, this had a lot of cool stuff to show. The original Gothic trilogy getting a console port? Did NOT expect that. Darksiders 4 skipping Strife's solo outing is... a choice, but I hope this game is good. I almost picked up Sacred 2 during the Xbox summer sale, so to see this is amusing too..
