To think, we're finally going to get the Monkey Island 3 we never got, a mere 31 years after LeChuck's Revenge.
Not to disparage those other Monkey Island games, of course. Curse was quite good and Telltale did a fine job with Tales. (We don't talk about Escape...)
@Savage_Joe I mean, there was a lot of pre-release criticism, all he's saying is he's gonna keep working to make the best show in spite of it. His mistake is in acknowledging at all. It always gets interpreted as "blaming the fans" no matter what is said.
The only reason people are comparing these is because one is XBox exclusive and the other isn't. In fact, isn't this the first major game releasing that would have come to Playstation had the studio not been bought by Microsoft? That's why some people are anxious to tear it down. Honestly, Harry Potter is still a huge franchise and Hogwarts Legacy is multiplat so it's a safe bet it'll sell more copies but so what? Starfield will still do very well and it is silly to compare them.
A friend of my cousin was moving and needed some fast cash, so I was able to get an OG Xbox and several games for $75 a couple years after the system came out. It was a great system and some pretty great games. I honestly can't remember what the games were I got with the system or what the first Xbox game I really enjoyed was, but I can name my favorite exclusive title for the system: Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse. What a fun game that was, pity the sequel got cancelled.
Maybe at one time there was something to the whole "console wars" thing. Not a lot, but something. Microsoft vs. Sony though is just two monolithic corporations with virtually identical products. Go on and choose the console that appeals more to you, but actually taking sides is beyond silly.
@Tharsman Yeah, I don't get it either. It's always nice when long running game franchises mix it up and try something new, but "more of the same" seems like one of those complaints that people parrot without really knowing what they're asking for. What would these constant reinventions they're apparently asking for even look like? Like, you could release an Assassin's Creed game that's entirely a match 3 puzzler and it would be different, but it wouldn't necessarily be good.
This just looks so generic to me, no interest whatsoever, but for those who are interested it's good to hear it'll be coming to Xbox as I was under the impression it was a PS5 exclusive and not just a timed one.
Sounds about exactly as I was expecting. Big changes with the new setting, new protagonist and new combat style, but still Yakuza at heart. I love these games, can't wait!
Yeah, this doesn't worry me. The main story might be a bit shorter to make gamers with less time on their hands happy, but I'm sure there'll still be tons of side quests and other optional stuff for the players like me who go looking for stuff to do. Hell, I spent 100+ hours each in Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim and I never did beat the main story in any of them.
Yeah, I can't recall any truly bad games that I've played on any Xbox platform. I mean, I'm sure there've been some but I've forgotten them. Not much point in dwelling on the bad ones. As far as disappointments, Crackdown 3 is still fresh for being a recent one. The original was so much fun. I never played the second one though I'd heard not much had changed. Three was just no fun at all, but at least the fact I didn't pay any extra for it took away some of the sting. Just Cause 4 which I bought on PS4 was similarly disappointing, but unfortunately I paid full price for that one. B as d move on my part, but I'd enjoyed the previous two well enouhh.
These last couple months of the year are gonna be a very busy gaming time for me as I've already pre-ordered and paid off Watch Dogs Legion, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077. In the meantime though, I'm splitting my time between Mortal Kombat 11 (I picked up the Aftermath Kollection in Amazon's Prime Day sale) and a replay of Control (I originally played and beat it on PS4, before I had my Xbox One X, but it plays so much smoother on Xbox plus I'm finally getting to the dlc).
Big fan of the Yamuna series, but I have to admit the pace of releases there was getting a little wearing. I'm glad to see this game is taking things in a new direction. As much as I love the series, something like is probably a bit overdue.
I think there's a good chance that anything that was already in development before the sale (Like Starfield, the next Elder Scrolls and possibly the next Fallout if that's in development.) could come to PS5, but after that who knows? It does seem unlikely that Microsoft would pay all that money not to keep any future games from Bethesda, ID and etc. exclusive. Microsoft may have agreed to let Bethesda still develop multiplatform as part of the deal, with it being less about acquiring console exclusives than is securing killer content for Game Pass. At any rate, it's a safe bet that any new IPs that come along from them going forward will probably be Xbox exclusive except in cases where deals were already in place, as with the time PS5 exclusivity for Deathloop.
It might be a bit soon to be announcing the next game in the mainline Yakuza series, but I wouldn't be surprised if they announce a sequel to Judgement.
@Krzzystuff The new one is. The older ones are open-world brawlers with a heavy emphasis on mini-games and side activities. This one will have lots of minigames too though, I'm sure. It's a big part of the Yakuza experience.
This isn't surprising. Amazon has gotten terrible lately at delivering games on launch day. They used to be pretty consistent about it, but of the last five or six games I've ordered from them only one has arrived on launch day.
It's gonna be a while yet before I get either next gen console, so I'll be perfectly happy with it if the next RE does come to PS4 and Xbone. I just wanna play the game and I know it would look great on current consoles, so bring it on.

@Savage_Joe Except that nobody is actually blaming the fans for anything here. Did you actually read the article or just the headline?
