Boy I have become too old….. I feel like there’s too many whiny people with voices now days..:: ugh.
They need to look at this from a business standpoint…. Having PS and Switch at the forefront advertises the fact that it’s now available on those platforms. Platforms which will likely have more increased sales at this current time versus the original platform it launched on. People will have already either bought it, played it, or have it wishlisted/backlogged on their Xbox. This gives opportunity to show the players that highly enjoyed it to see its on other platforms too if they choose to double/triple dip, and advertises to owners of only PS or Switch that “Hey it’s here in your system too!”
Ugh…. Some people… think before you speak or react to your emotions. Seriously. Y’all like Obsidian and MS? You want them to succeed and be profitable and last a long time? Let them do what they’re doing without the idiotic criticisms. Did you go to business school and study marketing and advertising? No? Then shut it. All your negative bs just leads to sheep mentality joining the crowd and causing a detrimental effect on what they’re trying to achieve which is success and profiting so they can continue to make great games for us! Sheesh!
To the naysayers about Xbox moving things to multiplatform…. Firstly we live in a vastly different age than the console wars of the 1980s and 90s. Secondly, at absolute worst case scenario Xbox has to dial back their manufacturing of hardware while increasing their software sales. Historically speaking, console manufacturing has cost Xbox money rather than made them a profit. So Xbox, financially speaking, can only grow by spreading games out to more markets. Nintendo, who is the stingiest with their IP, has even learned this with games like Mario Run and FE Heros on phones. It also strengthens their brand by getting more views and plays. More people in the world now days recognize Mario over Mickey Mouse, something I would have never thought possible 30 years ago. Think about that.
The trick to it all is to have the IP first, or in a different fashion. Allow the sales to stagnate in one market and move on. I’ll use older titles for an example - Fallout 3, FONV, and Fable 1-3. These games, financially speaking are most likely stagnated to the point of not making hardly any money a month, probably not even enough to cover someone’s rent, on Xbox. If Xbox decided to port them to Switch, they’d open themselves to a new market, and potentially 1M or more sales just to have those games portable, reinvigorating their sales while also boosting their awareness. Keep FO4 and FO5 on Xbox/Pc, and now you’ve got new players wanting to purchase an Xbox or windows pc just to play your titles. The same would work in reverse if Nintendo tossed the old NES/SNES titles for sale on Xbox. Those titles aren’t making Nintendo any money themselves (besides maybe a tiny a fraction from NSO subs), so it would only serve to boost some sales, and raise awareness potentially getting Xbox owners to purchase a switch to play the latest titles in the series. This is exactly why they did Mario Run on phones.
And using Starfield as an example jumping to Ps5. One big thing, it’s not an established franchise like ES or FO, but it came from a big company known for those established franchises. That said, it met lukewarm reception. This was most likely semi expected on their end. So releasing it on PS strengthens the brand, increases the sales, and all MS has to do is release some exclusive dlc, or hype that you can only play the sequel / FO5 / ES6 on Xbox. Eventually you’ll get people that jump and buy an Xbox/Pc. But again, software is what sells and makes profit, not systems. Both Ps5 and Series X are nothing more than affordable gaming PCs with proprietary OS where you as a consumer don’t have to fiddle with registry and other settings.
We have to remember that these are still companies. Yes we love them, but making us happy is second to a bottom line. And as long as they’re making money, they aren’t going anywhere. All three of the major console devs could ax their hardware divisions and rebrand as game only devs and they’d still be making money, still would be around. The only one that might get a profit hurt from doing so would be Nintendo, as they try to make their consoles affordable while retaining profit. MS and Sony usually don’t, at least not for the first few years. Those years they’re sustained by software sales, which just proves that sustainability.
So yeah, don’t think that by tossing a couple franchises on other console it’s going to hurt them, it’s not, and only serves to strengthen them.
Phil, just please port some older stuff to Switch - Fable 1-3 and Fallout 3/NV. Having those portable would be absolutely amazing! And would likely print you money….. like an obscene amount.
“Cleaning house” is the first task of new management/ownership. So it’s not surprising in the least. Sad for the people having to find new jobs and possibly suddenly loosing a “work family” they’ve come to know and love.
A lot of people didn’t grow up with games in the 80s and 90s, or don’t remember, when the MSRP on a game was truly just a suggestion to retailers. You can find scans of Toys R Us or Babbages selling stuff like Killer Instinct for $85+. That has to be equal to $100+ in today’s economy.
Not saying $70 is great, but it could be much worse!
Awesome, glad it kept ya going! Now if y’all would kindly drop Fallout 3 and NV on Switch…. Maybe even FO4…. I’m positive you could fund all future Starfield and ESO6 endeavors. Please and thank you kindly!
@Xbox_Dashboard I’d love that, and double dip if they decided to bring it switch. I’ve already got the Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter, Icewind, etc collection there, and that would complete it,
Still wishing they’d bring Divinity 1 over as well.
@Xbox_Dashboard @GamingFan4Lyf If ya wanna see “pinnacle” optimization you guys should look at NBA2k23 file size! /s
But seriously, how bloated are games gonna get before even one SD Card/SSD/HD isn’t enough?
The gaming as a whole is just eager to hit 20k rez and 1k fps….. but what about storage?!? We seem to have solved the loading issues this Gen, but next Gen storage is going to be an absolutely massive issue if it isn’t solved soon.
Thinking of Nintendo as pinnacle developers, which they are, they’re also absolute masters at file compression. I’ve noticed a few games downloaded at roughly 3-4gigs but unpacked to 12-15gigs. Being in a crappy internet area, I’d LOVE for that to be a thing with my Xbox. Instead of downloading Hogwarts at 70-80gigs and taking me all night, compress that waaaaay down, and let me download a file size of 20-30gigs instead!
Edit - Forgot to add that I’ve seen NBA2k on switch isn’t much better off, somewhere around 50-70gig last I heard, putting it at 1st or 2nd place for largest file size on Switch.
@GamingFan4Lyf I was thinking this same thing. I hate the term “lazy developers” cause that’s not true/accurate in a lot of cases, like this one.
People don’t really think about how the coding side of things works in games, but the easiest analogy I can think of is you have 4 people all taking turns painting a picture. Say they’re trying to copy the Mona Lisa. Each one adding a portion to the overall picture on every pass - a lot of times without giving direction on the next step that should happen / the steps that have happened already. It’s very hard to achieve an exact outcome when one person is in control, let alone when you add multiple hands to the project. So each piece of the Mona Lisa is going to look different, and may not align properly.
Instead of going back through to clear code and tidy things up, it’s usually brute forced through processors and ram. This is especially true for pc titles where system specs vary wildly and it’s just easier to allow the code bloat.
The awesome addendum to it all though is when the code gets heavily optimized for a lower end spec, like with BG3 here, just how much extra you’ll benefit on the higher end side of things. Doom 2016 was a prime example of amazing coding to the point where that same game runs fantastic on Switch and like 5mill fps on X/Ps5/Pc 😂
Sounds like some certain scenes were getting a bit too busy for Series S to properly process. My guess is that either OS or other resources were taking up the VRAM that was needed to process those scenes adequately and it was causing either massive frame drops or full crashes. Likely the same bottleneck that’s been causing issue with split screen on Series S.
Sounds like a solution has been achieved, but what said solution is I couldn’t be sure. Maybe MS showed them how to dial back the systems usage of RAM/VRAM, or they reengineered the game engines handling of those peaks.
Description sounds like Manhunt but with a Christmas theme. So not surprising that some platforms are restricting it. Manhunt was barely allowed before….
This looks like if you asked your Uncles Suda51, Swery, and Hideki how you should make your game, then got AnnaPurna to publish it. And I mean that as 100% compliment, I’m down to try this!
@CorugatedZant Yeah, it ain’t happening. Even if Nintendo had, say 3 Wii U type flops in a row, they’d sooner drop out of the console business and become pure software devs. Even at that point, the likelihood of getting take over is slim. They’re smart, and they’d likely have a double down of expanding their brand set in place before the 3rd flop which would greatly increase their net worth. Stuff in the realm of hotels, casinos, and more movies. And they’ve already got measures in place preventing a hostile takeover via majority stock holdings, they watch that extremely carefully.
Grabbed this on sale when it first dropped to $4. Haven’t played it yet, but watched my friend play a bunch. Worth it for $4, but I still prefer MUA3 on Switch. Really wish we’d get rereleases of MUA1-2 on modern platforms, missed my chance to grab the Remasters on Xbox back when they came out, and don’t play my PS4 anymore (where I DID snag the remasters)
@Tharsman The bear scene yeah, but honestly what sold me was the Djinn that can possibly turn you into a wheel of cheese. I mean I was sold on BG3 before, having played BG1&2, Icewind and Divinity. But a wheel of cheese…. That’s hilarious level of tomfoolery.
Just give us the game now please and thank you! This is probably my most anticipated release of the year, so much so that I’ve been tempted to get an Asus Ally just to play it.
@LordFunkalot Honestly, and I’ve been saying it since Xbox and Nintendo got Buddy Buddy with Ori and such, they really should just partner up. Have some shared services, aka NSO+ on Xbox and Game Pass on Switch. Phil wants screens, and that would be a heck of a way to get them. Nintendo could use more screens as well since they’re expanding brand power. That would be a tremendous amount of hurdles for both companies, and probably nothing more than a Green Pipe dream. But I do believe there has been a lot of people who used their S/X with RetroArch and such to likely play titles from NES/SNES/N64 era, plus who doesn’t want to play Fallout and Fable on Switch? Absolute win I’d think.
@DennisReynolds Me either, was just making a point. However, they have come a long way since the Rare purchase, plus most members of Rare left before the acquisition. And a lot of the bad business to devs and gaming is less to do with Xbox/MS as a whole, and more with Don Mattrick and his horrible ideals.
That all said, I would much prefer Nintendo stay independent, and likely they will after the major moves with theme parks, movies, and other licensing of their IP. I say this as someone who grew up in the 80s, has owned all Nintendo systems and have been a Nintendo fan ever since my grandma got me an NES in 1986.
Only time will tell with other studios they’ve acquired in recent years, like Double Fine, InXile, Obsidian, Bethesda, idSoft, and such.
@K1LLEGAL Finally seeing humanity amongst all this. Lordy! Been reading the comments between here and Nintendo Life, so much vileness. And to be fair, Xbox buying/partnering with Nintendo is not the worst thing in the industry. I can think of at least 3 more corporations that would be way worse for Nintendo and the entire industry. Sony, Embracer and EA. All capable of absorbing Nintendo, and 2 of which would just gut the company and either kill all future creativity (EA) or gut and dump (Embracer). But according to all the comments you’d think that Phil was a literal Satan and capable of far worse than those companies all by himself.
It’s laughable, but extremely sad at the same time that people feel the need to attack a person like that just for doing his job.
Still love their games, jank and all. The only thing that ever stops me from playing them at launch (even tho I buy them at launch, smh) is awaiting to hear about game breaking bugs and how to fix em.
We know the one posted on here, but there’s another my friend discovered today. The quest is Old Neighborhood, when you return to the lodge you need to use the main entrance but the entrance can bug completely and not prompt you to open it instead prompting you to go to another entrance that you can’t access till later, halting all progress in that quest, which is a main quest.
There are 2 fixes tho, using Booster Pack skill to bypass the main entrance works for some people, but that didn’t work for him. Instead he had to use the Eye Witness quest which forces the main door open or something.
Just letting everyone know incase the quest bugs for you guys!
I remember playing the first Red Faction on Ps2, and getting pimp slapped by friends on SR1 on 360. Fond memories! Sad to see the devs get closed because of a meh reboot.
If this is how Embracer Group is gonna operate when they loose their $2b deal, then they can go suck eggs.
Hope the staff at Volition expeditiously find jobs under happier umbrellas. Cheers guys, and thanks for the memories!
This is the smartest solution as if they still want to try to make it happen, they can patch it in later should they choose. Better to get the game out without further delay (especially with its ultra high rating and hype) than continue delays and try to shoehorn something to work with too little time to make it work well…..
I don’t have a favorite, but instead 5 equal great memories!
1.) Playing Gears 1 co-op with my friend 2.) Getting Pimp Slapped on Saints Row and knocked across the map 3.) Racing around Project Gotham and drifting for Kudos 4.) Playin Chromehounds religiously to get all the parts and becoming a master sniper and artillery expert. 5.) Downloading my first Xbox Arcade title, Outpost Koloki X
This is easy, send Microsoft to my local area to kick it in the butt and increase local internet speed options. Currently it’s either ATT DSL @ 25mb down/1.5mb up, or Casscomm Cable/Fiber which are about $20 more a month and FAR less reliable. So I’m stuck with either having a stable slower internet, or faster but deal with a ton of Konami code stability (up/down/up/down/left/right/left/right/b/a/select/start)…..
Get me stable fast internet in my area, then I’ll remote and cloud play all day
Thank RNGesus! Fallout 4 suffered similarly in my mind for dividing the game up. I don’t hate the settlement building and such, but I do believe they shoulda focused solely on gameplay, mechanics, and story above the settlements and that should have been the dlc instead. I want to love FO4 as much as FO3 and NV, but I just can’t because the story isn’t as drawing and the settlement building is too distracting.
So thank you Obsidian for focusing on the single player aspect first, MP can come later in a patch or dlc.
Short Hike is good! Had some nice chill fun on it when it launched on Switch some years back. Good times! Highly recommend for any Game Pass subscribers. Can be finished in an hour or so
Snagged em both, but will likely only play Blue Fire, if I play it. Already have it on Switch from when it released, good game and NL gave it an 8/10 then. And it should be even better now with more updates since then. Not sure if it ever had dlc….
@FakeSunkist And that just proves how outta touch they are. D2 and D2R, not a live service, but has everything off the bat, no need to patch unless a glitch/exploit pops up. Millions of players are still playing it 20 years later. Smh.
PoE, PD2. D2R, etc all prove the model is sustainable with just optional seasonal content.
Long time Diablo fan, and D4 is still a better game than D3 in all categories (except end game). That said it’s not without flaws, and I think my favorite thing about this patch is that they’ve previously admitted to the resistance system being completely broken, yet it wasn’t a priority to fix…. You’d think that a fundamental part of rpg systems would be on the first thing to-do list…..
And it baffles me as to why they couldn’t just completely copy and expand the D2 system….. instead opting to copy the D3 system and overlay D2 on top of it.
The main problem with D3 is a problem that continues in D4, itemization. And I think I finally figured out the problem - too frickin many stats on gear, especially stuff like crit/crit dmg/element dmg/etc and so on, on gloves.
D2 was great cause it was less stat filler crap, and that gave items more “weight” oddly enough. You didn’t have to keep rerolling and praying for trifecta gloves. Stuff like crit and dmg damage were in skills, not gear. And your gear was meant to boost and supplement skills. D4 makes head way here, but not quite enough. I think if they ditch stuff like crit/crit dmg from gear and vulnerability all together (didn’t anyone learn from BL2 Slag?!) and bring back stats like Life/Mana leach, that would go a long way towards better itemization.
Also, how many forms of Damage Reduction do we need? FFS there’s so many, and most are conditional dependent. DR, DR against Close Enemies, DR against Far Enemies, DR against poisoned enemies, DR against Crowd controlled enemies, DR against chilled enemies….. I’m sure I’m missing one or two,,.,
The other issue is d2 had a clear cap on monster difficulty / level. There wasn’t an endless difficulty, players 8 and hell mode TZ is the cap, we’re all fine with being able to steam roll that once we get our builds up. Our chase was items, not “can we beat the next GR/NM dungeon?”
/endrant
All that said, d4 does have good potential, and sadly, like all other Blizzard games, will require an expansion or two before it’s in a good place. At least that’s what history with Blizz has shown us. I doubt it’ll dethrone D2R for me, but I’d love to be proven wrong!
I laugh everytime this updates as I get notified of 20+ apps needing updated…. 😂😂😂
Edit - For those that don’t know it updates the base game, plus every single piece of dlc, including all the free stuff they’ve released. This may only apply to the original XB1 version and separate dlc, as that’s the version I have, not sure about GOTY edition.
Always sad to see someone who I saw start their journey finish it. I remember reading his quotes in Xbox magazines and such, back when that was the only way you were getting demos! 😂😂
Wish ya the best of luck on your next journey, may it be filled with fun, happiness and games!
As a very long time fan of Blizzard I will concur that they are a sleeping giant and almost always had gamers at heart with their games. Lost Vikings, Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo, WoW….. all very well made, engaging and they listened to player feedback often and adjusted accordingly, and still are.
Granted Diablo Immortal was and is a cash grab, one I don’t really agree with, but it’s on mobile so whatever.
Blizzard is also about making money, but they knew they wouldn’t be able to amass and keep a large fan base without making good games and having good rapport with the players. I mean you don’t get 1.5m active players or 5+ million subscribers having crap games and crap service.
In the terms of sleeping giant, they’ve been sleeping…. Sleeping on their ips and porting them to consoles. In days past, their games didn’t translate as well to console due to limited control and hardware. That hasn’t been the case for at least 2 generations now, with even 360 proving you can do really well done RTS on console.
With this acquisition I truly do hope that MS pushes Warcraft1-3 (any/all of em), StarCraft, and WoW to console. All can be easily done and handled on consoles now days, and would easily expand the player base probably by 500k or more each. That may be too conservative. But any base growth within the 500-1.5m range would not surprise me.
The smart money, and I’m betting this where it’s all heading towards, is Microsoft getting a large enough portfolio of devs under its belt to bolster Game Pass and offer a tier of Game Pass that plays on other systems besides Xbox and Pc. By next Gen I’m sure we’ll see at least talk of something along those lines.
If Xbox does this well enough, they’d be in a prime position to move away from Hardware if they want/need to. And that’s the goal, to be able to sustain even if the hardware needs to be axed.
Nintendo could surely do this if they ever needed to and survive just fine. PlayStation I’m not positive it has enough first and second parties to survive just as a software dev/publisher:
The whole Game Pass on other consoles has a large amount of hurdles to jump over. But, the subscription model does thrive on active subscribers, and if your install base can’t grow large enough to sustain due to lacking hardware sales, the only route forward is have more hardware options.
@OskarRex Ah I thought it was for all GwG now. Regardless, dang sight better than Ps plus ever offered me if i cancelled my sub. Plus, at the time, never really offered stuff I wanted anyways, and if it did, I usually already had the game. Same thing when Nintendo offers me my yearly birthday discount - I always have the games they offer the discount on! 😂
Edit - I will say I love Game Pass for being able to test out games I’ve had on my wishlist. Like Unpacking, wife loved that so we ended up getting it on her Switch, and on Xbox for the kiddos. And Plague Tale never really crossed my radar until I saw it on Game Pass. Now own the first with the second still on my wishlist.
I’ve been tempted a bunch of times to get Darkwood on Switch. Reviewed decently too. Has loot, leveling, quests, plus crafting and survival aspects. Basically an isometric Dead Island.
Was also tempted by When the Past Was Around, NL gave it a 9/10, and I like point n click puzzlers with good stories.
Also GwG seems to be an after thought at this point, and I get that MS main focus is Game Pass. I’d be willing to bet, at least for the first year or two, 75% of Gold Subs were also Game Pass subs (thanks to the cheap upgrade). Does suck for those that are only Gold. As a GP subscriber GwG is just a nifty bonus.
Edit - there is/was a major difference with GwG vs Ps Plus. With gold, you get to keep the games regardless of sub now. Ps Plus wasn’t like that during my PS4 sub (first 5-6 years). If you stopped subbing, any games you had with plus went poof till you renewed.
Konami, if you do this, I’ll buy the collection twice. Xbox and Switch. Please make this a reality!
Also, if you’re listening, bring out the Castlevania DS collection too! Preferably with the mods that remove the touch aspects instead of remapping it.
@Martsmall Thank ya kindly I appreciate it! I’ve got a friend in the Netherlands that my family and I might be visiting in a year or two, and he’s got fiber. Might have to buy a 1TB (or 2TB if they’re available then) micro sd card and download all my switch games while I’m there, 😂. Sucks so bad upgrading that card due to how long it takes for me to reinstall everything. Last go (400gb card) took me 4-5 days total to put back on all my thumbnails and install all the games back. My Switch “cloud” of games exceeds 1TB though, and dread the upgrade….
I wouldn’t mind being able to play my owned titles via cloud through my devices, or game pass titles via cloud….. however, my home internet is maxed out at 25mb/1.5mb…. Small town, ATT DSL. So it’s not really viable for me sadly. Even remote play is janky, which I would love to utilize as I there’s a few games I don’t want to play on the big tv in front of the kiddos.
Wonder how many Xbox players are in the same boat as me with internet speed? I’d love to switch to the local fiber option, but it’s notorious for having down issues, and costs twice as much. And sadly that company won the fiber bid for the area, so gotta wait a few years before ATT can run fiber here.
This looks like it’s got some Monster Hunter essence, combined with Too Human, and BotW? Could be amazing. I’ll wait and see. If it’s on Game Pass I’ll give it a whirl. My wallet is too stretched and my backlog too big currently though. Still haven’t delved into Elden, Cyber, or TotK… and that’s just 3 major releases amongst the plethora of other retail and indies I have yet to get to.
I’m gonna die with a backlog…. There’s just no way, lol. Hope my kids continue to be gamers! Maybe they can complete my legacy! Sheesh! 😂
@Banjo- got a 3DS backlog as well from buying the rest of my wishlist before the shop closed. Was a few Persona, and a few SMT titles, plus some other JRPGs I’d failed to grab over the years like Radiant Historia
@TheSimulator Np and good luck! Truly does suck getting blasted by motion sickness when you’re really enjoying a game. Same with boats for me as well. Just means the fluid and hair in the ears that are responsible for telling your brain you’re stable / rocking are working fine. The problem with gaming is your ears are saying you’re not moving, but your eyes tell the brain the opposite. Brains, “oh you HAVE to be poisoned then, that’s the only possible answer! Induce the vomit cycle!”
Never go on a Motion simulator, holy crap. Rode one of those in the mall when I was younger. Awesome experience to ride a virtual roller coaster. But unlike riding a real one, I got so incredibly motion sick. Like lay down for 2 hours sick.
@Banjo- 😂😂😂 I feel ya. I’ve been buying a ton of indies since I discovered Steamworld Dig and Stardew…. So got tons of those in my backlog, alongside the standard major Switch releases, and standard major Xbox releases like Diablo, Elden and Street Fighter 6…. And in the past 3 years my most played games were all on Switch - Diablo 2 Resurrected, Monster Hunter Rise, and Witcher 3…. All games you can lose 250+ hours to and not bat an eye. So playing those has contributed HEAVILY to the backlog. 2 of those have more or less ruined their genres for me. Witcher is so good, it ruins open world rpgs, and Diablo is such a good arpg that nothing can touch it. Just like Capcom with RE4, Blizzard hasn’t been able to beat their own peak release that was D2. The closest thing to touch D2 was Borderlands, and that’s because half the original D2 team left and created Borderlands.
@Banjo- yeah Fallout 4 and Skyrim on Xbox have mod support. But not Fallout 3, NV or Oblivion. Those all only have mods on Pc.
Still all great base games. And I highly suggest the Anniversary edition of Skyrim, especially if you like mage or archer builds. So many goodies added for them.
And with Anniversary edition there’s player housing for every theme of rpg type character, even Necromancer has a “lair” for a house. Awesome stuff.
@Banjo- Witcher is amazing, but it’s a slow burn. The entire first area - White Orchard, is a tutorial more or less, and lasts about 8 hours. Push past that. Once you’re past that point I guarantee you’ll fall in love with the game.

Re: Pick One: Which Is Your Favourite Obsidian Game On Xbox?
The list of great games they’ve made is longer than “Long **** Johnsons’ ****, and he had a ******* long ****”.
Cheers obsidian! I hope Avowed is just as good! I’m a bit leery about it with how actiony it is over their past titles, ngl.
Re: Microsoft Cuts 1,900 Jobs Across Xbox, Bethesda And Activision Blizzard Teams
“Cleaning house” is the first task of new management/ownership. So it’s not surprising in the least. Sad for the people having to find new jobs and possibly suddenly loosing a “work family” they’ve come to know and love.
Re: Capcom Has Officially Raised Its Prices With The Arrival Of Dragon's Dogma 2
Re: Todd Howard Reflects On Morrowind's 'Huge Success' On Xbox, Admits It Kept Bethesda Going
Awesome, glad it kept ya going! Now if y’all would kindly drop Fallout 3 and NV on Switch…. Maybe even FO4…. I’m positive you could fund all future Starfield and ESO6 endeavors. Please and thank you kindly!
Re: Larian Achieves Breakthrough With Baldur's Gate 3 On Xbox Series S
@Xbox_Dashboard I’d love that, and double dip if they decided to bring it switch. I’ve already got the Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter, Icewind, etc collection there, and that would complete it,
Still wishing they’d bring Divinity 1 over as well.
Re: Larian Achieves Breakthrough With Baldur's Gate 3 On Xbox Series S
Re: Larian Achieves Breakthrough With Baldur's Gate 3 On Xbox Series S
Re: Larian Achieves Breakthrough With Baldur's Gate 3 On Xbox Series S
Sounds like some certain scenes were getting a bit too busy for Series S to properly process. My guess is that either OS or other resources were taking up the VRAM that was needed to process those scenes adequately and it was causing either massive frame drops or full crashes. Likely the same bottleneck that’s been causing issue with split screen on Series S.
Sounds like a solution has been achieved, but what said solution is I couldn’t be sure. Maybe MS showed them how to dial back the systems usage of RAM/VRAM, or they reengineered the game engines handling of those peaks.
Re: Microsoft Says 'No' To Horror Game That's Apparently 'Too Crazy For Xbox'
Description sounds like Manhunt but with a Christmas theme. So not surprising that some platforms are restricting it. Manhunt was barely allowed before….
Re: Roundup: Here's What The Critics Think Of Day One Game Pass Release 'Thirsty Suitors'
This looks like if you asked your Uncles Suda51, Swery, and Hideki how you should make your game, then got AnnaPurna to publish it. And I mean that as 100% compliment, I’m down to try this!
Re: Talking Point: Would You Like A Detachable Disc Drive For Xbox Series S?
Fool me once with the HD-DVD drive….. 😂
Re: Phil Spencer Issues Statement In Response To Massive Xbox Leak
@CorugatedZant Yeah, it ain’t happening. Even if Nintendo had, say 3 Wii U type flops in a row, they’d sooner drop out of the console business and become pure software devs. Even at that point, the likelihood of getting take over is slim. They’re smart, and they’d likely have a double down of expanding their brand set in place before the 3rd flop which would greatly increase their net worth. Stuff in the realm of hotels, casinos, and more movies. And they’ve already got measures in place preventing a hostile takeover via majority stock holdings, they watch that extremely carefully.
Re: Final Warning! Marvel's Avengers Is Being Delisted On Xbox This Week
Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Dev Reacts To Suggestion That Xbox 'Misjudged' The Game's Potential
Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Dev Reacts To Suggestion That Xbox 'Misjudged' The Game's Potential
Just give us the game now please and thank you! This is probably my most anticipated release of the year, so much so that I’ve been tempted to get an Asus Ally just to play it.
Re: Phil Spencer Issues Statement In Response To Massive Xbox Leak
So many more subs to GP and NSO+ sold that way…..
Re: Phil Spencer Issues Statement In Response To Massive Xbox Leak
Re: Phil Spencer Issues Statement In Response To Massive Xbox Leak
Re: Talking Point: Xbox Fans, How Do You Find Time For All These Amazing 2023 Games?
I dunno about everyone else, but my secret is I buy them and look at them, and eventually I’ll hopefully get around to playing them. 😂😂😂
Re: Deals: Over 800 Xbox Games Are On Sale This Week (September 12-19)
Just snagged Ducktales Remastered for $4 and Disney Afternoon Collection for $5. Good stuff!
Re: Review: Starfield - Bethesda Serves Up Its Best RPG Yet In A Messy, Exciting And Emotional Space Odyssey
Signature Bethesda Jank, 😂
Re: Saints Row Dev Volition Shut Down By Embracer Group
I remember playing the first Red Faction on Ps2, and getting pimp slapped by friends on SR1 on 360. Fond memories! Sad to see the devs get closed because of a meh reboot.
If this is how Embracer Group is gonna operate when they loose their $2b deal, then they can go suck eggs.
Hope the staff at Volition expeditiously find jobs under happier umbrellas. Cheers guys, and thanks for the memories!
Re: The Elder Scrolls 6 Has Entered The Early Stages Of Development
News like this is like, “Yay! Awwww…..”
Awesome that it’s in development, sad that it’ll likely be 5+ years before we can play it.
Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Confirmed For Xbox In 2023, Series S Version Ditching Local Co-Op
This is the smartest solution as if they still want to try to make it happen, they can patch it in later should they choose. Better to get the game out without further delay (especially with its ultra high rating and hype) than continue delays and try to shoehorn something to work with too little time to make it work well…..
Re: Talking Point: What's Your Favourite Xbox Live Memory?
I don’t have a favorite, but instead 5 equal great memories!
1.) Playing Gears 1 co-op with my friend
2.) Getting Pimp Slapped on Saints Row and knocked across the map
3.) Racing around Project Gotham and drifting for Kudos
4.) Playin Chromehounds religiously to get all the parts and becoming a master sniper and artillery expert.
5.) Downloading my first Xbox Arcade title, Outpost Koloki X
Re: Talking Point: What Would Convince You To Use Xbox Cloud Gaming More Often?
This is easy, send Microsoft to my local area to kick it in the butt and increase local internet speed options. Currently it’s either ATT DSL @ 25mb down/1.5mb up, or Casscomm Cable/Fiber which are about $20 more a month and FAR less reliable. So I’m stuck with either having a stable slower internet, or faster but deal with a ton of Konami code stability (up/down/up/down/left/right/left/right/b/a/select/start)…..
Get me stable fast internet in my area, then I’ll remote and cloud play all day
Re: Obsidian Axed Avowed's Co-Op To Focus On 'Things' It Was Best At
Thank RNGesus!
Re: These Two New Game Pass Indies Are Short, Sweet, And Well Worth A Play
Short Hike is good! Had some nice chill fun on it when it launched on Switch some years back. Good times! Highly recommend for any Game Pass subscribers. Can be finished in an hour or so
Re: Your Last Ever Games With Gold Titles Are Now Available On Xbox
Snagged em both, but will likely only play Blue Fire, if I play it. Already have it on Switch from when it released, good game and NL gave it an 8/10 then. And it should be even better now with more updates since then. Not sure if it ever had dlc….
Re: Blizzard Addresses Fan Complaints About Controversial Changes To Diablo 4
@FakeSunkist And that just proves how outta touch they are. D2 and D2R, not a live service, but has everything off the bat, no need to patch unless a glitch/exploit pops up. Millions of players are still playing it 20 years later. Smh.
PoE, PD2. D2R, etc all prove the model is sustainable with just optional seasonal content.
Re: Blizzard Addresses Fan Complaints About Controversial Changes To Diablo 4
Re: The Witcher 3's New Update (4.04) Comes With A Minor Xbox Series X Fix
I laugh everytime this updates as I get notified of 20+ apps needing updated…. 😂😂😂
Edit - For those that don’t know it updates the base game, plus every single piece of dlc, including all the free stuff they’ve released. This may only apply to the original XB1 version and separate dlc, as that’s the version I have, not sure about GOTY edition.
Re: Major Nelson Announces His Departure From Xbox After 20 Years
Always sad to see someone who I saw start their journey finish it. I remember reading his quotes in Xbox magazines and such, back when that was the only way you were getting demos! 😂😂
Wish ya the best of luck on your next journey, may it be filled with fun, happiness and games!
Re: Blizzard President: We Have So Much Coming, We're Just Getting Started
Re: Activision Boss Admits He'll Have To 'Agree To Disagree' With Microsoft Over Xbox Game Pass
Re: Xbox Games With Gold For July 2023 Announced
Re: Xbox Games With Gold For July 2023 Announced
Re: Konami Might Have Leaked The 3 Games Included In Metal Gear Solid Collection 'Vol.2'
Konami, if you do this, I’ll buy the collection twice. Xbox and Switch. Please make this a reality!
Also, if you’re listening, bring out the Castlevania DS collection too! Preferably with the mods that remove the touch aspects instead of remapping it.
Re: Sarah Bond: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate's Least Popular Feature Is Cloud Gaming
Re: Sarah Bond: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate's Least Popular Feature Is Cloud Gaming
@Martsmall Lordy! I pay $70/mo for the service I’ve got….. next upgrade would be switching companies to 150m/150m fiber @ $120/mo
Re: Sarah Bond: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate's Least Popular Feature Is Cloud Gaming
Re: Video: Atlas Fallen Gameplay Overview Shows More Of Deck 13's Fantasy RPG In Action
Sheesh! 😂
Re: Todd Howard Says Starfield Is 'Great' On Xbox Series S
@Banjo- got a 3DS backlog as well from buying the rest of my wishlist before the shop closed. Was a few Persona, and a few SMT titles, plus some other JRPGs I’d failed to grab over the years like Radiant Historia
Re: Todd Howard Says Starfield Is 'Great' On Xbox Series S
Re: Todd Howard Says Starfield Is 'Great' On Xbox Series S
Re: Todd Howard Says Starfield Is 'Great' On Xbox Series S
@Banjo- yeah Fallout 4 and Skyrim on Xbox have mod support. But not Fallout 3, NV or Oblivion. Those all only have mods on Pc.
Still all great base games. And I highly suggest the Anniversary edition of Skyrim, especially if you like mage or archer builds. So many goodies added for them.
And with Anniversary edition there’s player housing for every theme of rpg type character, even Necromancer has a “lair” for a house. Awesome stuff.
Re: Todd Howard Says Starfield Is 'Great' On Xbox Series S
@Banjo- Witcher is amazing, but it’s a slow burn. The entire first area - White Orchard, is a tutorial more or less, and lasts about 8 hours. Push past that. Once you’re past that point I guarantee you’ll fall in love with the game.
