Re: Xbox Game Pass Is Getting A Major Overhaul With New Names, Games & Price Changes

Daniel1221

Yikes! I'm in the UK and still able to redeem a month of GPU for 12,000 points (despite it supposedly stopping yesterday), so I have purchased some codes from there, and will use the old EA Play conversion trick as and when I feel there's enough I want to play but, given I prefer casual, simulator, and driving games, there's little value in most new releases added to the service to stay subscribed consistently like I have done in recent years

Re: Forza Horizon 6 Heads To Japan In 2026, Day One On Xbox Game Pass

Daniel1221

The reveal was really disappointing, and that's coming from someone who first chose an Xbox over a PlayStation when I was many years younger, purely because of the original Horizon game.

What is interesting is that whilst the game is coming to PlayStation, it's not doing so at launch. Wonder how long the delay will be, but is a good strategy in my eyes

Re: Test Drive Publisher Regains WRC License After EA Decided Against Codemasters Sequel

Daniel1221

@Brigurugi I'm predominantly a racing game guy and yeah, Codies has become awful since being purchased by EA. The F1 games now have virtual currency and have added stupid features that nobody cares about after 5 minutes, all whilst they've removed other features from the game. The career mode on the recently released F1 25 has some new features but nothing that makes you want to play the game. That, and 3 tracks in reverse are the main selling points this year. Yikes.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2's Crazy Game Prices Could Be Terrible News For Xbox Fans

Daniel1221

I mean, this is the same Nintendo that's charging for its tutorial game as well. People will moan but will still pay the prices, so I get why they do it. I really don't think this will impact Xbox players. Most will continue to play via Game Pass for the majority of their games and third party games are reduced within what feels like weeks these days

Re: F1 25 Set To Release In May 2025, 10-Hour Xbox Game Pass Trial Included

Daniel1221

I'm a Formula 1, have been for just over a decade now, and used to love the new grand every year. The last 5 or so have just felt so repetitive and the lack of proper innovation has been disappointing. We've gone from new bonus and alternate tracks, as well as classic cars, to the F1 Life rubbish they keep pushing, and a story mode which feels so out of place and boring to me. Would be nice to see something to make me want to play the game but, this is unlikely to happen, especially as Codies is now owned by EA (they would've been a great fit for Xbox!) and I'll probably wait until it hits Game Pass about 10 months from now, especially as you should have significant changes to the 2026 game, given the IRL regulations.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 8-9)

Daniel1221

I've started playing the original Forza Horizon again for the first time in many years! Seeing the news of older, delisted games, such as FH3, appearing on the store reminded me I've been meaning to play it again for a while, and I've been having a blast with the nostalgia! Well wishes to Fraser as well!

Re: Xbox App Recommends Trying Out Delisted First-Party Game, Confusing Fans

Daniel1221

I'm sure it's nothing more than a simple error, but it would be nice to see a remake / remaster of some of the older Horizon titles. FH1 is 15 in 2027, they could rename is Horizon Colorado, and make some simple tweaks to modernise the game with features from newer games. Would sell well, and be nice to see. Would be an obvious slam dunk to do, which is the exact reason I have no hope of it happening

Re: Soapbox: As A Huge Forza Fan, I'm Fine With Horizon 5 Going To PS5

Daniel1221

Pretty much agree with everything this article talks about. If Xbox users get the game day and date on Game Pass, and a period of exclusivity, then I'm at ease with the idea of iconic franchises going to PlayStation. What irks me is the lack of clear communication from Xbox instead, we're getting snippets from interviews and leakers. The theory of higher revenues from such decisions leading to more investment in studios and Game Pass is one that makes sense, and will help to boost Xbox further, but we need to start seeing evidence of this over time.

Quite simply, if Xbox fail to provide better value for Xbox users, stop day one releases on game pass, or release day and date on other platforms then that's when I have to think about my future with the Xbox brand

Re: Forza Horizon 5 Officially Announced For PS5, Drifts Over In Spring 2025

Daniel1221

@DeanyBabyy I play primarilly racing games but for those wanting to play jus them, you'd be silly to not have a PC instead. Ultimately, Xbox players will have just as much as PS players with the exception of what, Gran Turismo? In return, they get games, like Forza Horizon, day and date on Game Pass, as opposed to having to pay x amount for every release

Re: Forza Horizon 5 Officially Announced For PS5, Drifts Over In Spring 2025

Daniel1221

I felt numb when I saw this news. I knew it would come eventually, and I completely understand why this is a thing but it doesn't sit quite right with me. When rumours of MS porting games started, I predicted that FH5 would be one of the first and was right (despite being told it would never happen by some!). The original FH was the first game I ever played from start to finish and made me fall in love with not just Forza, but Xbox as a whole, and I will, in all likelihood stick with Xbox as long as they provide 1st party games on GP Day 1, but this certainly feels like a small part of the Xbox brand has died with this news. And I know the game is on PC, but this feels different. Hopefully, MS' plans prove to be right and the value for money offered by Xbox will help improve GamePass and console sales, and bring a brighter future.

Re: Xbox Game Pass Gets Price Increases And New 'Standard' Subscription Tier

Daniel1221

I get that people are annoyed with the price increase but Game Pass is still great value. Do I like COD? No, but that doesn't mean that I can't appreciate the extra value it provides to the service. Plus, being realistic, we expect more Activision games to come to the service, not just BO6 so the increase for that, along with general inflation, is fair. You can still stack up on the subs, and buy codes at the cheaper price now and use them as and when it makes sense for you as well. I've got just over a year left on my sub and will be doing just that.

Re: Talking Point: What Convinced You To Pick Xbox In The First Place?

Daniel1221

I remember seeing gameplay of the original Forza Horizon and falling in love with it. Subsequently played a good bit of FM4 and other games. Seeing Horizon 3, combined with backwards compatibility, and gamepass made it a no brainer for me. I do think Xbox has it's issues currently, but I still don't regret my choice

Re: Here's Everything That Was Revealed At The Xbox Games Showcase 2023

Daniel1221

Hyped for Forza, Cities 2, and Flight Sim (which took my breath away once more!). Disappointed the show was only an hour, but the fast pace meant that when a game didn't appeal to me, I wasn't waiting for the next one for too long. Plus, we have the extended showcase for more gameplay.

For those complaining about the lack of non-delayed games for this year, I agree. However, I would argue that both Forza and Starfield are heavy hitters, and it's important to remember that things take time - many of 24s titles would have been pencilled in internally for this year but delayed so that the games could be better, which is what we all want.

The lack of concrete release dates was also a clever move in my opinion - by not announcing dates too soon, there's less disappointed in the long run as games don't get (publicly at least) delayed.

Really enjoyed this showcase, even if I was disappointed not to see more of what others want (such as Gears), and think it was definitely the best so far. Let's all hope that Xbox can build on this strong momentum going forwards

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Use Your Xbox To Watch TV In 2022?

Daniel1221

I have a Samsung Smart TV and used to use the likes of YouTube and what have you that way but have since started using my Xbox as I can plug my earphones into my controller thus not annoying any of my housemate with my noise. Only downside is that for some apps, like Prime, the controller turns itself off after 20 minutes and there doesn't appear to be a way to change that

Re: #SaveProClubs Goes Viral As FIFA 23 Players 'Demand Answers' From EA

Daniel1221

It's not pro clubs though, is it? The F1 game has taken a monumental step backwards this year (in my opinion!) with EA only caring about how to milk every single game of theirs dry as opposed to making high quality games. The irony is that they posted that tweet about how 'shes a 10 but only plays single-player games' when they can't even get the online elements right

Re: These 12 Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (July 5-14)

Daniel1221

Good to see some kids titles: whilst they won't appeal to the majority of us, it's good to see Xbox offering a greater level of variety. Been debating whether or not to buy Road 96 so that's settled me debate; I'll give it a go and, if I like it, I'll pick it up down the line. Finally, people may mock powerwash simulator but I've been enjoying House Flipper a surprising amount since it joined GP: it's a different change of pace and it's good to have games other than FPS'

Re: Xbox Games With Gold For July 2022 Announced

Daniel1221

This is getting pathetic now. Whilst I'm happy to have Thrillville (as it will mean I can sell my copy), when you look at what PlayStation offers month after month, this is not good enough.

I know the argument is that this is a 'bonus' each month - and I get that - and I also understand that Gamepass exists and the value it offers (which is monumental!) but, when PlayStation offers Crash 4, God of War (admittedly an exclusive), and Fifa in the span of three months, what Xbox offers is awful.

The worst part is the fact that there is no reason as to why, right? Xbox owns a significant number of studios now and could easily offer some back catalogue games from said studio for minimal cost then, they could use the savings from this and work with a close partner (like EA, or Activision) and secure a heavy-hitter game and actually offer something that makes people go wow. I can't remember the last time GWG has made me do that

Re: PlayStation's Xbox Game Pass Competitor Goes Live Today In The US

Daniel1221

@uptownsoul For sure, and I completely understand the fact that some don't like / know how to do it this way. For me, both subscriptions offer great value if you a) have enough time and b) make use of them. For me, £11 a month wouldn't make sense as whilst I get some use, it's not to that extent. At £2.50 a month, it's the only subscription I pay for

Re: Rumour: Fable & Perfect Dark Won't Be At The Xbox Games Showcase

Daniel1221

I don't really care for either franchise but I'm glad they're not being shown - if they're not ready, don't bother with a CGI trailer as they'll be forgotten quickly and the hype will quickly be lost.

The fact that Xbox have got their announcements out of the way today, and have enough for the showcase on Sunday is fantastic: so much for Xbox not having much, hey?

Re: Forza Horizon 5's First Expansion Has Leaked On The Steam Store

Daniel1221

@Grumblevolcano Potentially but that would be rather underwhelming. I know Playground are also working on the Fable reboot (plus the longer-term effects from the pandemic) but to take this long but be nothing more than a remake of the expansion would be disappointing. With that being said, I never experienced the DLC on FH3 so that'd be nice.
