Damn. I was looking forward to this. I hope they commit and deliver the game.
It's not looking good for ambitious games. This reminds me of the way Beyond Good and Evil 2 arrived with so much promise and stunning trailer, just to disappear into the ether.
Instead we get a regular churn of tried and tested FPS shooters and an endless stream of copycat games guaranteed to make a profit of some sort.
Beyond the indie developers, the corpo market is killing innovation.
Hope to god Cyberpunk 2 reaches the finish line.
@Tasuki Basically True - of all games released by corporate owned developers. You'd think that once they have their coffers full they'd say "Okay we hsve money enough to give you time to polish off this game and give people a truly AAA experience." But no, because Greed has no limits and you don't get rich by caring.
Looks very good. Wise choice of the developers not to chuck it into Game pass and lose most of potential revenue. It's worth buying just to support the indie.
I spent many hours on Killzone, Infamous, Resistance FOM and Resistance 2, Uncharted, TLOU & Cyberpunk 2077. Now I spend 100% of my time on XBox X ESO and Star Wars Outlaws. Those stats are all well and good but I don't think it tells the whole picture.
Agree with the review sentiments. A missed opportunity. I was looking forward to a new chapter with some new, original content beyond an expanded environment. And to think I bought the Xbox X specifically for Starfield. It's fortunate Game Pass has a pretty decent library and jumping back into ESO has been more fun than I expected, otherwise I'd be back to the PS5 which has been gathering dust for several months.
Thank. Good review., I've been in two minds about this., What with ESO and the upcoming Starfield Expansion. Now it seems I'm going to have less time for real world stuff.
I used to play Zen Pinball a helluva lot on the PS. Even had most of the Marvel tables. I worry for my controllers. This is a welcome addition. Looking forward to giving it a go on the Xbox
XBox X,, simply for Starfield. Though now I'm hooked on ESO after waiting long enough for the Starfield expansion. Also Flight simulator is a great way to relax. I've had every iteration of Playstation. Use them for different games now. Haven't fired up the PS5 since finishing CP2077 Phantom Liberty.
I started playing about 3 weeks ago. It's true there is a lot of stuff going on but I stick to the main game, do a dungeon each evening. I don't dabble that much in the crafting and all the other activities. You can still get through quite a lot of the game without indulging in all the other skills and background work. So you shouldn't let that put you off.
@neoxmahi Hi. I'm new to XBox, having been a Playstation gamer since PS1 days. I'd say that in time, most of us get over the 'Fanboy' phase. For me it's always been about two, maybe three factors, what I can afford compromise, sticking with what works for me. Now I have the time and money I'm getting and Xbox X and I'll be buying a 36 month sub to Game pass. I'm not too bothered by 'Fanboy'ism here. Most people here seem to be fairly level headed folk. Gaming is first and foremost about having some fun, not going off on some flaming rant. Which I guess could be a laugh for others who don't take such nutters seriously.
@belmont Here's a question. If you buy more subscription now at the current price, will it not start from where your current subscription ends? Allowing you to make a saving ahead of the price rise?
@Traman500 buying Zenimax was a sensible forward looking move. It prevents Sony from trying the same trick again with another game released by the firm further down the line - preventing a game of whack-a-mole.
Both Sony and Microsoft are doing what corporations always do. No difference between when it comes to corporate shenanigans - regardless of their PR, marketing spiel and public rhetoric.
Microsoft need Sony. Like Coke needs Pepsi
We are defined by what we are not, just as much as we are defined by what we associate, align with and represent.
Companies like Disney and other IP owners/game developers know this and can use it to their product and marketing advantage. Xbox might have Indiana Jones but not the MCU characters like Spider-Man and Wolverine for example, or Pixar or Star Wars which are with other unaligned developers and publishers.
It's not a simple binary either/or scenario. Sony and Microsoft aren't in full control here. Other forces are using every opportunity to raise their profile and improve their social and market presence
@RIghteousNixon Agreed, some of the bugs in Cyberpunk were hilarious. Besides, the whole point of games are to have fun. Some people seem to forget this.
@Zoidpilot4 @PhileasFragg , @RIghteousNixon . Fact is we don't know what it will be like at Launch. What we can say with some confidence is that it won't be as bad as Cyberpunk 2077. Microsoft and Bethesda have invested as much time, money and energy into Starfield, so if it is the same kind of Clown Car as Cyberpunk at launch, I'm confident they'll fix it. I played Cyberpunk on the PS5 from launch and lived with the hourly crashes etc until theyt fixed it and carried on with it after because I loved the game. Starfield has me preordering the game and closer to the date I'll be buying an Xbox X.
Ever the optimist.
@Zoidpilot4 not so sure about that. I've been a PS guy since PS1, but been watching the Xbox evolve over the years. I'll be getting an Xbox X just for Starfield Disc edition and will probably subscribe to game pass next year. Are there still people out there who religiously stick to one console?
