Not surprising they got rid. Arkane has literally no one left from the Dishonored or Prey days and the only thing produced is Redfall, Tango has only created HiFi rush in the time since it was acquired. Who's fault is that is open for debate but overall Xbox is a business and Arkane games have never made money and Tango made ok money but not amazing.
Hopefully we'll end up with a few smaller companies of ex Devs created soon so we can get some more indie and AA games created.
Anyway, never trust companies, that should be the takeaway. Don't trust companies, don't go bat for companies, just keep companies at arms length at all times and never get invested in what they are shilling.
The sales right now has a good bunch of CoD in it which is precisely how a lot of games go onto GP. They are in the sale, week after it finishes it's in GP. This current sale ends 19/04 and seems to follow the same pattern. Of course I'm just guessing with an opinion but it is a pattern we've seen the past few years with titles.
Quick everyone, let's run around with our arms in the air, panic everyone, panic! Or alternatively just wait until the announcement and then have a discussion about how everyone feels this may shape Xbox?
A fear that's a little too much to hope for but I hold out hope. Nothing has been said, everything is rumour and everyone just needs to sit down and relax.
Does the light-year game have couch coop? Something companies need to bring back in my opinion. BG3 split screen with my wife and we are at almost 9days played on Series X split screen and it's very obvious to me that single player and small co-op games of 3 to four players is actually what people want, so of this has local coop of 2 players ot would be great.
Oh it's Devs moaning about having to do work he is really on about.
Look all games and assist are made on PCs and/or Macs and created for consoles. It takes more time for Devs to adjust for 3 consoles over 2 and that's the bottom line.
The S is perfectly capable machine if you aim for 1080p which studies have shown most people still own a 1080p TV at least in the UK. Dialling down what's available in a game does largely come down to how the game was made and how easily scalable the Devs made the game. I mean NMS for example is a gorgeous looking game and that now runs on the Switch!
The Devs that want to make a game that runs well that's scalable will and as for the rest, well we all know the S show that many games launch as, usually from the big guys in the industry and it's because they want to push out games with zero love.
@trukme I have 500meg down 73 up on fibre coming into the house and I stream some Gamepass games without any problems at all. I also did that with the Xbox one X and had zero problems. However when I was with another company at still good speeds I did have problems.
I think it largely comes down to ISP speed throttling in the small print. Sadly.
The plan for me was; Get an S while it's in stock and to be honest there isn't much on the next gen front (even now). That way I have foot in door and I could get a good price for my old Xbox ONE X.
Then later down the line when the family Gamepass comes out and stock goes back to normal, get a Series X and give the S to my son.
That's still the plan, however as I said there isn't much next gen stuff out, it's been great and revisiting older, long load time games as it makes them new, Skyrim is a good example as well as Mass Effect.
Overall I'm very happy with the little box, quiet, runs everything super quickly. I have a 1tb external for all the games that don't require the SSD to run, however the storage constraints are still a bit of a pain.
The storage will become far less a pain once the family GP is out and the S is just for my son, whose games are typically smaller, and the X has my games on it.
Again, overall an amazing system, especially if teamed up with GP. The only gripe is the storage, but the same can be said for both the Series X and PS5 due to stupidly big installs of some games.
Is the music industry and the gaming industry really comparable though? That's my question.
I personally try to own all the consoles, when money lets me and I've currently got a Series S with Gamepass, now I do buy a fair few games for our 9 year old and I have supported certain games when they have left GP as I really enjoyed them.
Hades is a prime example, I would have never played that game if it was only for sale, but I've purchased it now as it fantastic and I want to support the Devs. Also I am more inclined to buy DLC and maybe even things from the shop in games (as long as it's not silly mobile priced) because I see the value in GP.
The Devs get some sort of guaranteed income from putting games on GP and then possibly added DLC/shop sales from that.
Without data on how much a game could possibly make with or without GP, and without data on games DLC and shop purchases it's a bit of a Schrodinger's cat situation. I'm not sure anyone can say with complete certainly that game X would or would not make more/less money by going with/not going with GP.
Also I am presuming a certain amount of advertising is done by MS in the form of front page exposure and GP quests that link to a game as well, which I imagine a smaller game like Stellaris or Hades might not be able to muster. I can't imagine a small studio being able to muscle in on a prime bit of land like the front page of Xbox when it's against Ubisoft, EA, Rockstar etc

Re: Talking Point: Is It Time For Xbox To Introduce A New Dashboard?
Switch on Xbox.
Log in to account
Scroll down 2 steps, app group. Press app.
Or
Press a single button to bring up all games, select game, play.
That's what I use the dash for, so to be honest I don't care.
