Re: Talking Point: Which Xbox Games Deserved More Love In 2024?

TheGiraffe

Starfield always doesn't get enough praise for being the only kinda-realistic open-world first-person space sim on Xbox like Star Citizen, wherein you can do a huge number of different activities every play session on many different beautiful worlds/environments. Loading screens are an issue though.

Re: Talking Point: Next Year Marks A Decade Since Xbox's Genius Backwards Compatibility Program

TheGiraffe

Personally I don't really get BC because the gaming technology is moving forward and the old games look terrible and play awfully clunky compared to newer ones. I get that maybe you like the story etc. but I just can't get past the oldness. I can't be the only one like this.

I even have an entire dump group on my Xbox Series X essentially called "Xbox360 and earlier clunkers" which are basically unplayable to me and wish I hadn't even wasted time trying. Perfect Dark Zero is a particular example to me, as it's a game that I should really really enjoy in theory, but I just can't get past the clunkyness. So looking forward to the Perfect Dark reboot instead.

Just my two cents

Re: Ex-Bethesda Dev 'Surprised' At The Amount Of Load Screens In Starfield

TheGiraffe

I still play a little Starfield almost daily. Sure the loading screens and bobble-head NPCs aren't good, but like I've said before on here it's the only kinda-realistic space sim on Xbox like Star Citizen (less sim than that is good also). I've been doing UC Vanguard, TMD Sample, and Mission Board missions, going to various planets and seeing the sights. It's cool!, until a newer better single-player space sim comes around.

Re: Talking Point: When You're Low On Time, What Do You Play On Xbox?

TheGiraffe

I used to play for 1 or 2 hours a day, but lately been just like 10-20 mins, doing Starfield role playing as UC Vanguard. Been doing Alien Sample Collection, Terramorph Clean-up, and Vanguard Ship Battle Missions. I don't really like getting trapped in closed quarters on-ship and in enemy outposts, so said Missions work for me and let me get to explore/see new beautiful space/planets. Starfield is such a good game for sci-fi/space fans.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 So Far?

TheGiraffe

@TheSimulator

Waves upon waves of enemies rushing at you is pretty much what a COD campaign shooter is all about since the originals. But that doesn't work for non-War settings like terrorists etc., and hence why you say unrealistic. Then again, it's a game, so doesn't have to be realistic at all I guess. I don't really like COD campaigns for this same reason as you.

@NEStalgia

Thanks for your help/advisement, and I can fix every game I want after a while, but it's just so much troubleshooting work and every game I buy I don't know if I 'm going to need to spend 3+ hours just fiddling with settings and driver garbage just to get functional/playable.

If I can put links in PX, here is an example:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/166syzg/comment/jz5tpln/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

This is headache inducing and those hours would be much better spent just playing the Xbox version.

I got so frustrated with this all the time that about a month ago I upgraded from Series S to OG Series X. I'm a big fan of role playing in Starfield (more fun-factor-ish than Star Citizen) and am between 200-300 hours of playtime in. This alone makes the Series X purchase worth it at AU$2.5/h.

@IOI

Oh, I didn't even know that about PS5 game pricing.

You are however not correct in thinking that MS doesn't care about Xbox consoles. It's just that they see it as a piece of the offering to Gamers, not the only offering.

MS is a massive company with many arms and they have been making different types of hardware for decades. Them saying they are 'all in' on Gaming is good news for fans, and they back it up with massive $ acquisitions. They are not going to abandon their like 30 million (or whatever it is) most loyal fans. They will continue to make a console just for them, even if they price it to make a profit not a loss. They might switch to a Cloud Only Device in the long-term future though, but by then it will probably work well.

Re: Microsoft CEO Gaming Division Update: 'We Continue To Extend Our Content To New Platforms'

Xbox console is fine, it's a non-techy works-mostly-straight-out-the-box alternative to PC Gaming for the living room/TV, and will always be around as long as MS and USA is.

This is the correct business approach for Xbox/MS, since they tried to lock up games to their console to sell more consoles but the consumer wasn't having it.

The consumer also wasn't having VR.

The consumer also wasn't having 3D Movies.

The consumer also wasn't having HD-DVD.

The consumer also wasn't having laggy/blurry Cloud Gaming (not ready yet).

The consumer also wasn't having Endless Divided Movie & TV Streaming Services.

The consumer also wasn't having DEI injection in the Movie & TV shows.

So all these companies, like big ships, will slowly pivot to the basics that work for consumers.

Re: Poll: Are You Still Buying Starfield Shattered Space After The Early Reviews?

TheGiraffe

@Balta666

I also don't like Horror, my least favourite genre. So I was annoyed when the Premium Edition got me this Horror-esque DLC Story Expansion.

Ironically 666 (see your name) and The Truth of The Holy Bible are mirrored in this Shattered Space Horror Story. When God's Holy Spirit protecting people from The Unholy Evil 666 Spirit is taken away from those that Worship Satan (great serpent) and don't know Jesus, they go insane and kill each other and themselves.
