You could be right. I'm going to try and get a much value and time out of my Series X as possible, especially churning game pass subs to try new biggies
If they abandoned timed then that's a problem yeah.
It's like Hollywood with time windows of cinemas, then PVOD, then VOD then streaming. It works and offers the product to all persons at all price points/interest-levels over time.
Game Pass cannibalises premium sales, as analysts of the industry attest. So they can't use sales numbers like say CP77 can say 30M units sold, because their sales are trash. Same with AC Shadows on Ubisoft+ sub, their premium sales will be trash. Rebellion took a big recoup chunk of $ from MS for GP add, but they still could have low profit and get the studio closed down. It's smoke and mirrors, you're wholly right.
The world is more beautiful (think Avatar game) and less 'psycho/horror/gore' than Fallout, so that's why it's better. I agree with you, I cannot play Fallout but probably can this, but..
I'm waiting for a hotfix before going back in after 1h of play and 3 audio dropouts.
Yet another F for Game Pass. It's only a matter of time till MS pulls the plug on the experiment that was a Gaming subscription service - way of the dodo it goes. Live-service/forever games win overall.
There is no comparison to forever games in Hollywood where a subscription model kinda works (sometimes). Not many people want to learn new game mechanics over and over (learning curve) with gaming sub games on rotation. You don't have to learn new mechanics to watch a new movie or tv show on a Hollywood sub.
Yeah but it matters if they end up closing more studios because they can't figure out the finances, both to the artists involved and to future games developed for us gamers
They didn't know Xbox One original wouldn't go down well.
I just don't have confidence in MS like you and Kloudz do.
And they are such a big company that MS Gaming division can make major mistakes with a mid-sized group of customers/consumers and still have zero impact to the company overall.
Yeah, "finished product at a discount in a year" is why I find the gaming industry so comical compared to Hollywood.
It's like some kind of joke. Imagine going to the movies with your family or friends and seeing a half-edited half-acted half-finished-vfx movie, and told to come back later for the 'final edit', lol
I heard that server-side they split the equiv Series X hardware into two user sessions, getting like 'Series S+' performance for the two streams, two users/people
Maybe that's why server-side streaming is lesser in your experience
Yeah, we were trying to guesstimate if -30% of every game sold to 'switching platform people' is more or less than the gain of extra MS first-party games sold on PS5/Switch
I'm quite negative on the MS Gaming strategy like you.
GP is dying, they're not going to get the 100M subs they wanted, and putting the next COD on there is throwing money away.
Xbox console is dying, and they are tyring to make us PC Gamers instead, using MS Store on PC.
But, I think MS is such a big company that can support disastrous MS Gaming decisions for years. And the MS CEO says something like 'they are in Gaming because of MS History with it', like it's just the 'idea' they are into or something
I agree with all of what you said, they'll figure it out in the coming year or two. I'm curious to see what they do with the 2025/6 COD and Perfect Dark. They need like 100 million+ GP subbers (3x+ current number) to make those $300-500 million dollar day 1 games work.
For example, Netflix has 300 million subbers and Hollywood says no go to their previous $300 million dollar movie approach.
Re AC, sadly I only like sci-fi, as a trained scientist/tech-bro, so olden-times RPGs are just dull to me, same with high-fantasy.
e.g. Recommend you watch this to the end, he makes my point well, a popular youtuber in the space, Ubisoft Keeps LYING About Assassin's Creed Shadows! Smash JT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u4EI3IeEfw
I think business leaders are capable of making bad decisions/predictions that lead to loss of money and closures and firings. Game pass is a subscription trend that isn't sustainable, I think. It's not popular enough, not like Netflix. You can't put new AAA games like Starfield or COD on Game pass. Atomfall, a AA game maybe OK. I know you disagree, but time will tell for Game pass.
Overall, I find the gaming industry almost comical, after spending lots of time looking at movie and tv industry happenings. Imagine going to the movies with a premium ticket and watching a half-finished half-edited half-acted movie and told to come back later for the final edit, lol!

The new Xbox ecosystem is Windows+NextBox+Handhelds+Cloud
They want everyone's 30%.
They are trying to take on Steam.

Starfield
don't think they'll do it
Re: After The Minecraft Movie's Success, What Other Xbox IP Should Get The Film Treatment?
I follow Hollywood from their industry perspective, news/analysis etc., and this is a major upset/surprise in that industry.
Congrats to MS etc. for making something highly liked for kids.
They are calling it a 5-Quadrant Movie, whatever that means, lol.

Aren't the big single player games like Starfield and Indy and Perfect Dark going to still be timed exclusives? Maybe I'm wrong

Timed exclusives is fine.

Re: Atomfall Is Already A Colossal Success On Xbox Game Pass & Beyond

The whole world defines success as making money so your studio doesn't get shut down because of debts
Rebellion could get shut down even if a lot of people tried their game and they said they did, e.g. Hi-Fi rush

MS is trying to convert Xbox users to PC Gamers, mark my words.
Then they'll try and convert those Steam PC Gamers to MS Store/PC Game Pass users.
They are trying to dump (not correct) their 3rd-place position in the console market.

Re: Xbox Reveals Five More Games 'Coming Soon' To Streamable Library

I actually agree with you from their "All in on Gaming" and "Because of MS History in gaming" mentality.
But this hybrid next gen is weird.
And putting 300-500M dollar projects like COD or Perfect Dark on a $15 sub is weird.
I think they are behaving strangely as MS Gaming division, like they don't know what they're doing or plan is exactly.
But yeah, time will tell for them
Re: Xbox Will Bring 'A Lot More' Exclusives To PS5 And Switch 2 In 2025
@dmcc0
could be, time will tell
btw a Xbox-PC hybrid cannot play Xbox console games out the box apparently without emulation, and emulating Series games may be too hard for the specs
it will be interesting to see what they do
Re: Xbox Reveals Five More Games 'Coming Soon' To Streamable Library

You have so much more faith in MS Gaming than I do. I'm expecting a push of all Xbox console owners to PC Gaming and MS Store sales/GP on PC

Yeah, Mirrors Edge Catalyst is one of my all time favs from last gen and it looks terrible on console in its relative year.
Characters and story/world and fun gameplay loop is the most important, then graphics
Re: Xbox Reveals Five More Games 'Coming Soon' To Streamable Library
@Kaloudz
When Xbox shuts down the console and says fwd play via PC/Stream and back play via Stream Only, I don't think that's good
Re: Xbox Reveals Five More Games 'Coming Soon' To Streamable Library
Stream, stream, stream games...
Next gen Xbox-PC-Hybrid full back compat via Stream Only, mark my words
Disaster

-30% of all
+70% of some

I respectfully disagree since -30% of every game becomes a lot quickly
Steams entire business revolves around this 30% only, and they're huge
I'd be interested to see the spreadsheets
Re: Xbox Will Bring 'A Lot More' Exclusives To PS5 And Switch 2 In 2025
@Ricky-Spanish
I'm like Destin, I like the business side, it's interesting to me, and it involves artists lives.
I also follow The Town for the Hollywood side of things.
It's interesting
Re: Xbox Will Bring 'A Lot More' Exclusives To PS5 And Switch 2 In 2025
@themightyant
Not all PS owners will buy MS games
But they lose 30% of EVERY game sale if people switch to PS6
It's probably about even + - on the spreadsheet
Re: Xbox Will Bring 'A Lot More' Exclusives To PS5 And Switch 2 In 2025
@Kaloudz
if 30-100 million xbox owners get ps6 only next gen and MS loses 30% per game of theirs sold, that's an issue for them
Re: Xbox Will Bring 'A Lot More' Exclusives To PS5 And Switch 2 In 2025
@oopsiezz
my thoughts exactly, ps6 here we go
Re: Xbox Will Bring 'A Lot More' Exclusives To PS5 And Switch 2 In 2025
PS6 time then next gen, more console-proper games for my buck
