Re: Atomfall Is Already A Colossal Success On Xbox Game Pass & Beyond

Game Pass cannibalises premium sales, as analysts of the industry attest. So they can't use sales numbers like say CP77 can say 30M units sold, because their sales are trash. Same with AC Shadows on Ubisoft+ sub, their premium sales will be trash. Rebellion took a big recoup chunk of $ from MS for GP add, but they still could have low profit and get the studio closed down. It's smoke and mirrors, you're wholly right.

The world is more beautiful (think Avatar game) and less 'psycho/horror/gore' than Fallout, so that's why it's better. I agree with you, I cannot play Fallout but probably can this, but..

I'm waiting for a hotfix before going back in after 1h of play and 3 audio dropouts.

Glad you liked it

Yet another F for Game Pass. It's only a matter of time till MS pulls the plug on the experiment that was a Gaming subscription service - way of the dodo it goes. Live-service/forever games win overall.

There is no comparison to forever games in Hollywood where a subscription model kinda works (sometimes). Not many people want to learn new game mechanics over and over (learning curve) with gaming sub games on rotation. You don't have to learn new mechanics to watch a new movie or tv show on a Hollywood sub.

They didn't know Xbox One original wouldn't go down well.

I just don't have confidence in MS like you and Kloudz do.

And they are such a big company that MS Gaming division can make major mistakes with a mid-sized group of customers/consumers and still have zero impact to the company overall.

I actually agree with you from their "All in on Gaming" and "Because of MS History in gaming" mentality.

But this hybrid next gen is weird.

And putting 300-500M dollar projects like COD or Perfect Dark on a $15 sub is weird.

I think they are behaving strangely as MS Gaming division, like they don't know what they're doing or plan is exactly.

But yeah, time will tell for them

I'm quite negative on the MS Gaming strategy like you.

GP is dying, they're not going to get the 100M subs they wanted, and putting the next COD on there is throwing money away.

Xbox console is dying, and they are tyring to make us PC Gamers instead, using MS Store on PC.

But, I think MS is such a big company that can support disastrous MS Gaming decisions for years. And the MS CEO says something like 'they are in Gaming because of MS History with it', like it's just the 'idea' they are into or something

@Kaloudz

I agree with all of what you said, they'll figure it out in the coming year or two. I'm curious to see what they do with the 2025/6 COD and Perfect Dark. They need like 100 million+ GP subbers (3x+ current number) to make those $300-500 million dollar day 1 games work.

For example, Netflix has 300 million subbers and Hollywood says no go to their previous $300 million dollar movie approach.

Re AC, sadly I only like sci-fi, as a trained scientist/tech-bro, so olden-times RPGs are just dull to me, same with high-fantasy.

I think business leaders are capable of making bad decisions/predictions that lead to loss of money and closures and firings. Game pass is a subscription trend that isn't sustainable, I think. It's not popular enough, not like Netflix. You can't put new AAA games like Starfield or COD on Game pass. Atomfall, a AA game maybe OK. I know you disagree, but time will tell for Game pass.

Overall, I find the gaming industry almost comical, after spending lots of time looking at movie and tv industry happenings. Imagine going to the movies with a premium ticket and watching a half-finished half-edited half-acted movie and told to come back later for the final edit, lol!
