I still can't believe they made two games called Need for Speed: Most Wanted on the same generation of consoles lol.
I voted for Most Wanted (2012) because Burnout Paradise is the most fun you can have with cars in a video game, period, and Most Wanted is the closest thing we've got to a sequel.
Let's see... Psychonauts 2 (digitally last year, and now the iam8bit collector's edition), the entire Yakuza series, Dragon Quest XI, Resident Evil 7, Fallout New Vegas and its DLC, Forza Horizon 4's DLC (but not the main game), DOOM 1 & 2, Quake, Elder Scrolls Online, and Void Bastards.
Plus there are a fair number that I had before they hit Game Pass, some that I've been meaning to buy, and some that I expect to come to Game Pass (Activision titles, mainly).
At one point, Microsoft said something about Game Pass users spending more in the store on average than they did before (I think that was the metric, anyway, but it may have been comparing Game Pass users to non-Game Pass Xbox players), and for me that has definitely been true.
I don't know what people are seeing in this game. I downloaded it and tried it two separate times. It's intentionally difficult to look at, or you can go in the options and clean it up, but then it just looks clean and ugly instead of filtered and ugly.
The level design is terrible. The very first level seemed to go on forever and it didn't make sense. I literally got bored before I finished it. It's baffling that you would start your game this way. It's like they designed it for people who have been playing nothing but DOOM WADs for the last 30 years or something, I don't really know.
The enemies are unmemorable and the music is yet another rehash of the DOOM 2016 soundtrack, which wasn't that great to begin with.
I will say the shooting feels good. There's a great foundation there, but every other decision they made is really rubbing me the wrong way.
HOLDING DOWN THE LEFT STICK TO SPRINT!? What are we doing here?
@BartoxTharglod good to know. I was thinking of using this with a friend if/when he gets around to picking up an Xbox, but I'll think again. No way I'm risking my account getting banned
@BartoxTharglod odd... As far as I know, Xbox has always encouraged this behavior, albeit quietly, and has not placed any restrictions on it. They talk about it on the support section of their site and there's no mention of anything like that. https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/console/my-home-xbox
I have also heard anecdotally that people have used this to play multiplayer games with just one person having paid for the game/subscription, but I haven't yet tried it myself.
From what I've seen, beyond just these clips, GT has superior lighting, materials textures, and fine details when you zoom in too close on the cars, but Forza has way more cars and a better third-person camera. Nitpicks, really. You can't go wrong either way (except that you can't actually purchase Forza Motorsport 7 if you don't have it already)!
Excited to see what they have in store for the next Forza, though. It's been a while since that teaser trailer!
I welcome the experimentation, personally. Let's let them try some stuff out before we pass judgment on it. There's too many armchair game designers out there.
Maybe that's easy for me to say. I just don't care about cosmetic unlocks or battle passes. I play games because they're fun to play. Getting "rewarded" with customization items has never done anything for me.
@BlueOcean Sorry, I was at work. Glad you got it working! I've found a USB stick full o' ROMs to be a good, easy, solution if the FTP stuff is too bothersome.
Definitely make sure to go into the online updater within RetroArch and update everything there once.
@BlueOcean You can join their Discord and watch the #gamr13s-announcements channel. They don't notify individual users, but you'll be in the next wave, presumably this evening. Otherwise just wait and try it tomorrow
Go there, click Whitelist at the top of the page, and fill out that form. Then click the Discord link, join that, and wait for the next Whitelist announcement (usually a couple of times a day).
Then, you can go to that same link- gamr13.github.io - on your Xbox in the Edge web browser, and follow the links to install RetroArch (and a few other things, besides. AM2R port, anyone?).
Granted, N64 emulation is kinda screwy no matter where you do it, but I've played PSX, PS2, GameCube and Wii games with no noticeable issues. It adds a lot of value to my Xbox.
It's far and away, the most backwards-compatible console I've ever owned lol
(All of this is perfectly legal and on the Microsoft Store, by the way. No ROMs or BIOS files are provided, and the community on the Discord server is super helpful and responsive if you run into any issues.)

Re: Burnout Developer Criterion Believes A New Entry 'Would Be Absolutely Phenomenal Now'
I'd buy it, but I doubt that there will ever be a better racing game than Burnout Paradise

@FraserG mild correction for that first link, it's coming to PlayStation Now, and is not a part of PlayStation Plus

If this interests, you, it's fairly easy to get RetroArch running on an Xbox, even without changing over to Dev Mode.
