Re: Xbox Seemingly Affected As Microsoft Announces Thousands More Job Cuts

MrMagic

@HonestHick Yeah it was a lazy answer about Nissan because if I had checked I would have known they actually had reported a net loss of $4.5 billion for the financial year to March 2025, unlike Microsoft who are reporting massive profits.

I would have also known Nissan said that the uncertain nature of the idiotic U.S. tariff measures makes it difficult for them to rationally estimate their full-year forecast for operating profit and net profit, and therefore they have to leave those figures unspecified.

Re: Xbox Seemingly Affected As Microsoft Announces Thousands More Job Cuts

MrMagic

@OldGamer999 Because Nissan's profits have declined about 90% and they are expecting a further decline, probably from all the tariff stupidity but Microsoft is posting massive increases in profits.

Microsoft have also laid off about 22,000 people now in the last 3 years as well. Probably replacing as many people as possible with AI.

Re: Xbox Features 'Steam' Games In New Mockup UI Image From GDC

MrMagic

Maybe you guys should hold on to your Series consoles after all if you don't want to lose access to most of your games but either way it's clear Microsoft is done being in the console business and the next one is just a PC with an Xbox sticker on it

"Windows Central understands that traditional Win32 will be the preferred development environment for the next mainline Xbox consoles, with Xbox One/Series X|S "ERA" environment gradually phased out. Where that leaves our existing library of Xbox ERA games remains to be seen, but it seems emulation is one avenue Microsoft is exploring for backward compatibility and game preservation."

I'd love to see what 3rd party publishers have to say about the last part lmao.

Re: Microsoft Has Reportedly Discussed Acquiring IP From Ubisoft

MrMagic

If Ubisoft had any sense they'd fire almost 10k people and close half their studios then maybe they could survive and there would be no need to sell IP's.

They are like twice the size of EA and have more studios than Xbox, Bethesda and ABK combined. Honestly the higher ups have they've lost their minds.

Re: Xbox Is 'Exploring' AI To Make Its Older Games Playable On Modern Hardware

MrMagic

Lol at the people falling for Philnocchio's lies again.

Summary of muse by Michael Cook - an expert in the use of AI in game creation at Kings College London.

*Muse was fed 7 years of video footage of Bleeding Edge and can now predic what will happen if elements of a level are changed, it will predict what players playing this new layout would look like.

Useful for developers to predict what making changes will look like and how it will affect player experience, in theory.

In other words, the idea is Muse could be used as a shortcut tool for predicting and visualising how gameplay might adapt to a particular input by a developer. And, crucially, that developer is still a human.

It is not and will never be capable of coming up with ideas of it's own or creating new games it does not have footage of. The tool would require signficant video footage of gameplay of the specific game before it could begin to predict outcomes as it does for Bleeding Edge.

Cook states this is impractical and may never be fully useful in game development.

Cook also stated that Spencer's comments around game preservation were "idiotic" and it would never work.

Re: Xbox's Indiana Jones Success Has Apparently Left Disney Wanting More

MrMagic

@HonestHick Jez was in denial for a while when every other insider was saying Xbox games are getting ported to playstation. He was running his usual defence on Twitter telling people it was nothing more than fanboy hopium. People still rip him a new one for it now.

He simply can no longer deny it like he did before but he still lies and runs defense every chance he gets, just like now with Indy.

I'm sure Circana's monthly and FY2024 best selling games report won't actually reflect what Jez is saying but I guess we'll wait and see.

Re: Xbox's Indiana Jones Success Has Apparently Left Disney Wanting More

MrMagic

@awp69 And before Indy he claimed Starfield was the best game last year also he also claimed Astrobot was too hard for him lol.

Anyone with half a brain knows he's just a bitter twisted old man with a hate boner for Sony at this point, with his multiple angry rants. Ofc he's always going to pick an Xbox game every year because he's lost his mind.

Re: Xbox Series X|S Console Sales Down Almost 30% In The US Compared To 2023

MrMagic

@Banjo- And I've owned every generation of Xbox apart from this one and I still own an Xbox I just didn't bother to upgrade because of how disappointed I was with them last gen but I still take an interest in them is that so wrong? Maybe I would've actually upgraded if they got their act together sooner and tried to actually compete but I'm not liking their new strategy so I'm simply using this place to voice my opinion on it.

Re: Xbox Series X|S Console Sales Down Almost 30% In The US Compared To 2023

MrMagic

@Banjo- Your blind faith is impressive but the complete lack of effort over the holidays to try and sell any consoles should be obvious to anyone by now that they no longer care about selling Xbox consoles and in fact they're just going to let it die because that's part of the plan so they can pursue that 3rd party publisher status you're boosting about.

With the This Is An Xbox ads and no big discounts or console promotions, killing their console sales over the holidays was clearly by design.

Re: Obsidian Confirms That Avowed Runs At 30FPS On Xbox Series X|S

MrMagic

@Rog-X Really what's all these games your talking about? Because the only ones I can think of are Hellblade which flopped and Indy and Cod which are both on playstation meaning Sony 1st party studios will have actually released more than them and yeah I know Concord flopped and nobody cares that's why it flopped.

If you're going to mention flight sim etc then be aware that none of the others are actually made by 1st party Xbox studios in the same way Helldivers 2 wasn't.
