@cragis0001 Maybe not directly but they see the benefits for them and one of those is obviously hurting Sony. That's why they are trying to accelerate it as soon as possible. They also obviously have a big hand in pushing for that all digital disgusting future they've always wanted and it's obvious now they also want traditional consoles to disappear as well.
@HonestHick If they finally admit they are going to just make an Xbox PC instead then sure but if they are just going to pretend that they still make consoles then at a certain point they'll be doing it for no other reason than to hurt Sony and traditional consoles.
@HonestHick Yeah but this is also a move to put pressure on Sony to open up their ecosystem. The end goal is to kill traditional consoles and push everyone to PC, handhelds and cloud.
Way to fuel the conspiracy theorists with their Xbox tax nonsense. The game simply has a higher score on playstation because there's only 10 reviews compared to the 63 reviews on Xbox.
@rizangle Ubisoft getting the cloud streaming rights to appease the CMA at the very last minute is just a coincidence.
Where exactly does it say that they were offered 15 years? The word repeatedly implies that it was more than 1 deal that they were offered, there's nothing there that states they were consecutive.
@rizangle You shouldn't believe everything you read online. That website is just clickbaiting people. It reminds me of another website that claimed gamepass had over 50 million gamepass subscribers before we found out the real number. There's a reason it is the only article out of countless others to ever mention 15 years instead of 10. It's because they made it up and that's why it doesn't link any sources for that claim but it has a link for everything else.
You could Google for days and you'll never find any other mention of it because it wasn't real. It wouldn't suprise me if it was just a twitter comment from a fanboy who desperately wanted the deal to go through and that site just used it for a headline.
I remember Corden saying that his sources were telling him that the original rumours about games going to playstation were fake as well, then he sharp changed his tune as the rumours began to escalate and more leakers started saying games are definitely getting ported.
@jedinite Do you even understand how steams concurrent actually works? The player count goes up and down constantly fluctuating, Sunday it was 431k then it dropped to 112k on Monday then back up to 357k today. It may have hit its peak though but there's no way to know for sure. We do know its game sales are still improving on console though. 👍
@mousieone Apparently all of Bungie threatened to quit working for Microsoft because they didn't want to make any more Halo games and Microsoft said we'll let you have your independence and keep the Bungie name if you make us 1 more Halo game, so they did and that was HALO Reach.
@Friendly Yeah but because there's barely any overlap at all, you can now see the white bar at the top of the PS5 box so it draws your eyes straight to the middle of screen. At least it did for me.
@Friendly On your original link at the very top of the page with the alternating advertisement there's just the tiniest little bit overlap, with Ps5 taking centre stage. It doesn't bother me either way but it's completely different to that link you've just posted.
Maybe some dying live service games if they're sure they'll be a success but I doubt it. I'd imagine traditional Xbox hardware will be dead before they even get a chance to.
@BacklogBrad Was that 70% from that Circana guy that deleted his tweet when someone replied to him showing that the numbers didn't add up? The same guy that said he wants Sony to bring all of their exclusives to PC because he prefers playing on PC? Anyway it wouldn't surprise me if it was more popular on PC at the start because Helldivers 1 was more popular on PC as well.
Helldivers 2 isn't Sony's first game to go to PC day 1. Back in the PS2 and PS3 days Sony had a division called Sony online entertainment that made games for PC and PlayStation. Games like Everquest, Planetside and DC universe online and they were even making H1Z1. They sold it though to solely focus on PlayStation back then.
@BacklogBrad Yeah I'd imagine that's what's happening. They'll probably be launch titles and did the ports on switch 2 dev kits but then it got delayed.
@Romans12 That 34 million GamePass subscribers includes PC and GamePass core. They actually seem to have lost about 2 million subscribers. It isn't growing.
Sony lost some subscribers as well but they still have about 47.5 million PSN subscribers.
@ZuneTattooGuy Except Sony's first party are usually selling more physical from the insomniac leaks. That 4% is also just revenue for a 3 month period when Sony didn't release a 1st party game, plus digital software revenue was only 21% the actual split between physical and and digital was 33% physical 67% digital.
Sony's physical fluctuates between 30 to 40 percent each quarter. I'm sure it hit 44% not long ago as well when they had a big 1st party release.
So it turns out they weren't all overlap like the people on here running damage control are trying to claim and Microsoft will be filling some of the roles by outsourcing to foreign countries. Anything to save a penny it seems.
All these people on here saying this was expected, are the same people who were saying the ABK acquisition was a good thing. Sure they feel sorry for the all the people that lost their jobs now, but it was okay then as long as they get some games thrown into GamePass that were always coming to Xbox anyway.
@NeoRatt The moment GamePass is announced to be on PlayStation is the moment everyone declares Xbox hardware officially dead and I'm sure it was revealed in the ABK case with the CMA that Xbox wouldn't allow PlayStation plus on their platform so I doubt they'll be able to play that card.
@cragis0001 Remember Phil already made some crazy statements like if GamePass doesn't make 100+ million subscribers by 2027; Microsoft will drop out, like a jilted ex threatening to end themselves if you don't date them.
@cragis0001 GamePass prices went up, also they've converted live into GamePass and less and less people are buying physical on Xbox, also a lot of people probably subbed for a month over the holidays. Then there's the head of marketing now a senior executive who had posted on his linkedin that GamePass had already surpassed 30 million about a year ago.
So no significant growth and according to Circana subscriptions have flatlined. This just puts more weight behind the rumours that more Xbox 1st party games are going multiplat, lol.
@somnambulance It's true that quality always trumps quantity but the fact Xbox are still conditioning their playerbase to abandon physical games is disgusting.
Even an Indie studio like BlueTwelve released a physical edition of Stray and they aren't owned and backed by the richest company in the world.
@GhanaViking They do but their last 2 games have been their worst. Wolfenstein 2 was just okay but way worse than new order and old blood. Youngblood though was trash.
@Skedaddle MLB multiplat was just a requirement by the league, also Sony doesn't have full control of Bungie yet so it is up to them where they publish their games. The Bungie board is 3 bungie executives and 2 from Sony, so Bungie has the final say. If Bungie can't meet their targets Sony has the right to absolve the board and take full control so the situation is completely different.
@rizangle So we were both wrong lol. I should have took my own advice, I just remembered the $145 million but it wasn't profit, but the game has made $73 million profit so far. That's a far cry from the -8million you claimed. Funny how you just ignore PlayStation plus as well, because this game was added and it generated revenue on there as well through subscription. 👍
It's interesting though. Matt Priscatella from Circana tweeted today that Subscription numbers have flattened and subscription services across PC & Console only account for 10% of video game spending in the US. The Idea that subscription gaming will become dominant is unsupported by the data.
It's starting to make more and more sense why Xbox will go 3rd party. It seems GamePass will never be as successful as they want it to be.
@rizangle That was an old slide from the leaks if you Google it you'll find they found a more up-to-date slide from the leaks that had ratchet and clank rift apart at 2.7 million copies sold and $145 million profit, also it is the PlayStation portal they're counting as a console sale but they didn't try to hide it. Circana tweeted about it and it is being counted separately from the 50 million consoles sold.

Re: Phil Spencer On Porting Exclusives: 'Every Decision We Make Is To Make Xbox Stronger'
I'll never buy an Xbox ever again. Every move they are making now is because they want to kill console gaming.

@HonestHick Yeah but this is also a move to put pressure on Sony to open up their ecosystem. The end goal is to kill traditional consoles and push everyone to PC, handhelds and cloud.

@rizangle Link to that 15 year deal? Are you sure you're not thinking of Ubisoft and the 15 year cloud streaming rights?
Re: Jim Ryan Explains Why Sony Kept Refusing To Sign Xbox's Call Of Duty Offer
@EvilSilentFrame The original deal was for Cod and any sequels to already existing ip's that are already on playstation up until 2027.
Sony signed in 2023 so they got Cod for an extra 6 years or 6 more games providing they stay on their yearly release cycle.
