We always hate reporting news like this, but it's got to be done - Microsoft is announcing more job cuts today, spanning 3% of the company "across all levels, teams and geographies" according to a report by CNBC.
In a statement, Microsoft said the cuts would "best position the company for success in a dynamic marketplace":
“We continue to implement organizational changes necessary to best position the company for success in a dynamic marketplace."
Microsoft currently has over 200,000 employees, so it's believed that 3% will impact thousands of job roles.
As you may recall, we heard about job cuts numerous times last year at Xbox and beyond, even including a few studios in their entirety. However, it's believed today's cuts are the largest in one batch since January 2023 when around 10,000 workers were let go at the company. We wish nothing but the best to everyone that's been affected by today's news.
