@UltimateOtaku91 agree the source is questionable. But given the trend with Deathloop and Ghostwhire. You cant deny there may be some element of truth to it. Why go for those and not the biggie?

Be glad when its all over, I think it will go through regardless the drama leading up to it just puts both companies in a bad light. Both are handling the whole thing pretty badly.

Microsoft: "We care about all gamers enjoying games regardless of what platform" - buys one of the biggest companies up. Its hilarious and perhaps understandable the only drama is around CoD when in reality there are so many massive franchises that will go exclusive. Crash, Spyro, Tony Hawk, Diablo to name a few.

Sony: "We think this will be bad for gaming" - moneyhats Square and god knows who else to keep games away from other platforms.

Both companies being hypocrits and hiding behind CoD to do it as its mass appeal will detract anyone and everyone from the real underlying issue.

It is all getting just a little bit daft now.

The sad thing about this whole drama is whether this acquisition goes through or not its bringing out all the fanboys from both sides and turning it into dated console war nonsense.

Whatever happened to just enjoying gaming?

Game Pass has been awesome for offering exposure to some fantastic indie games that the devs wouldnt have otherwise gained from going down the normal route.

Can agree though it needs to be value for money and avoid any kind of "shovelware" type scenario and have access to big games. Would argue all of Microsofts first party being on there day and date covers that though?

It is almost as if it is deliberate putting out poor monthly games on Gold to push people to Game Pass who havent done it already.

If anything it would waste less resource to remove Gold completely. The number of Xbox gamers not on GP already must be small enough surely.

@Tharsman same license holder but Microsoft havent (or at least not publically) bought any rights to the Indy IP for use so may still be Disney's call at this point.

Dont get me wrong this is completely relevant and needs to be an article. I too am curious by the third title.

But to put my input in, maybe its my age but I keep thinking the drama over this is getting so old. Capitalism has taken over gaming far too much so much so I think the enjoyment of just gaming gets forgotten. Lol.

As for my theory on the third title. Mine is one not mentioned, the idea of being enjoyed by single players or small groups is telling as this lacked a massive multiplayer community, I would guess the next Wolfenstein as the third title.

I can envisage a lot of Switch owners who wanted a next gen machine alongside it having gone for the S at its friendly price point too, really smart move going with the two models that.

So much drama. We all know it will go through. Sony will have to accept an offer, stop whining and we can all go back to gaming and enjoying ourselves.

All a bit much of a muchness the big corp posturing. If the boot was on the other foot and Sony acquired EA (would never happen but hypothetical) MS would panic and moan the same way about Fifa.

Bottom line. Its all about money.

Nintendo meanwhile are just looking at the drama and shaking their heads.

I have mentioned this before. And I appreciate its in an unrelated industry to gaming. But all the talk of Sony monopolising - Microsoft absolutely do the exact same thing elsewhere.

These games are acquired tastes a little bit marmite so half expected this. Those who loved Inside and Limbo I would still think would get some enjoyment here even if not on the same level.

But in gaming terms. Essentially rather than just obtaining an item in a game and that item being limited to your use. You effictively own the item outright and can opt to sell/trade with other players and the game publisher takes a cut. Like an in-game ebay almost.

Its another way of forcing microtransactions on the basis it can actually make money for the player as well as the publisher, so understandably most gamers hate it, goes into NFT territory.

MS arent wrong in what they are saying but they overcharge in their other business areas themselves because they have a monopoly there. All the big corps do it in some areas so it is a little bit pot and kettle.

@bpomber I remember the old Sims console exclusive games. That were for the most part a disaster.

Sims 2 Unleashed felt like fun at the start. That fun lasted about 30 mins lol.

Its all a load of drama be glad when its all over and dust has settled.

I think this will go through regardless but the FTC, EU and CMA are the key ones to sign off on this as they are the biggest markets.

I think they will all approve it in the end and this is just a massive drama the media thrive off of.

Sony raising concerns is natural. Boot was on the other foot same thing would happen. But ultimately it will go through.

The drama is getting stale over it at this point. As much as Jim Ryan has made some daft quotes and calls him doing this is completely not a surprise, doing what he can to protect what probably makes Playstation a lot of money.

I guarantee that if the boot was on the other foot and lets say, Sony had the cash and acquired EA. Microsoft would kick up the same amount of fuss over Fifa.

In summary with anything relating to Sony crying over this deal: nothing to see here.

Honestly the nostalgic in me just cant get past the Silent Cartographer level on the original Halo as being the best Halo piece of the series.

The warthog races with mates around the island edge on co-op. The (albeit slightly morbid) playing a prank on the marines joining you then the look of disbielief when you kamikazied it off the side of a cliff edge.

Those were the days.

Two titles a year split between devs maybe means no sacrifice on quality, but skeptical on that until I see it first hand.

EA....having problems? Well never saw that coming.

Some of those sales are probably buyers of the new Saints Row who said sod it I need me some GTA. Hadnt bought the next gen remaster and jumped on it.

As for the chime turned that off ages ago due to them as well they would hear it and jump on it and use the top vent as a seat..

Given the update it may not be true. The skeptic in me cant help but think this rumour has been partially engineered by someone within EA to drive other parties to come forward with interest.

I voted MS will absorb it (they are raising costs elsewhere anyway) they dont need to protect their market presence in the US but do elsewhere so they will keep as is to give them more traction.

Some tech companies have increased prices and blamed it on inflation/taken advantage of inflation depending on which way you want to look at it. Look at the occulus increase. Insane.

Its really not a trigger to start a Playstation vs Xbox battle again. Its a bigger issue with companies taking advantage of the issue in certain areas.

I use my Fire TV. If i didnt I may use the Xbox as the LG C1 webOS apps arent the fastest.

Can only stream it on PS5 so might dl on Xbox to give Saints Row 2 another bash. Best game in the series imo.

Microsoft paid for timed exclusivity on a next gen upgrade. That was on another level.

Sony are a bit out there with the length on some of theirs but it is a bit misleading to say its becoming less on Xbox. It really isnt. They are both at it, just in different ways.

Console wars are dead in the water, or should be. This is a bit ironic though as at least in the 360 days especially Greenberg loved stoking the fire in the media.
