Re: Microsoft Invests In Korean Blockchain Game Developer

Jaxx420

@Kaloudz Blockchain itself is hard googling its so open ended.

But in gaming terms. Essentially rather than just obtaining an item in a game and that item being limited to your use. You effictively own the item outright and can opt to sell/trade with other players and the game publisher takes a cut. Like an in-game ebay almost.

Its another way of forcing microtransactions on the basis it can actually make money for the player as well as the publisher, so understandably most gamers hate it, goes into NFT territory.

Re: Xbox Activision Blizzard Deal Officially Approved In Brazil

Jaxx420

I think this will go through regardless but the FTC, EU and CMA are the key ones to sign off on this as they are the biggest markets.

I think they will all approve it in the end and this is just a massive drama the media thrive off of.

Sony raising concerns is natural. Boot was on the other foot same thing would happen. But ultimately it will go through.

Re: Rumour: Jim Ryan 'Flew To Brussels' To Voice Concerns Over Xbox's ActiBlizz Deal

Jaxx420

The drama is getting stale over it at this point. As much as Jim Ryan has made some daft quotes and calls him doing this is completely not a surprise, doing what he can to protect what probably makes Playstation a lot of money.

I guarantee that if the boot was on the other foot and lets say, Sony had the cash and acquired EA. Microsoft would kick up the same amount of fuss over Fifa.

In summary with anything relating to Sony crying over this deal: nothing to see here.

Re: Talking Point: Is Halo 3 The Pinnacle Of The Franchise So Far?

Jaxx420

Honestly the nostalgic in me just cant get past the Silent Cartographer level on the original Halo as being the best Halo piece of the series.

The warthog races with mates around the island edge on co-op. The (albeit slightly morbid) playing a prank on the marines joining you then the look of disbielief when you kamikazied it off the side of a cliff edge.

Those were the days.

Re: Reaction: Will Xbox Follow PlayStation In Raising Console Prices?

Jaxx420

@NEStalgia yep totally agree.

Similarly and ironically. I work in recruitment and Linkedin Recruiter licenses (vital to our business I might add as only viable network in the market) are going up further soon and rising costs was alluded to in the email we had . Who owns Linkedin?

They are all at it and capitalising on it in some way.

Sadly, all of this is going to get worse over the next 12 months before its better.

I voted MS will absorb it (they are raising costs elsewhere anyway) they dont need to protect their market presence in the US but do elsewhere so they will keep as is to give them more traction.

But you are right. 18th century here we come for a while.

Re: Reaction: Will Xbox Follow PlayStation In Raising Console Prices?

Jaxx420

Some tech companies have increased prices and blamed it on inflation/taken advantage of inflation depending on which way you want to look at it. Look at the occulus increase. Insane.

Its really not a trigger to start a Playstation vs Xbox battle again. Its a bigger issue with companies taking advantage of the issue in certain areas.

Capitalism is gross sometimes.

Re: Xbox Exec Wants To 'Celebrate' Other Console Platforms More

Jaxx420

@Techno92LFC Maybe that would be a funny read. For a short time.

Problem is it would incentivise all those trolls to start getting vocal and their antics do nothing more than bore the rest of us who just want to play games.

Unless you were being sarcastic. In that case #longdayatworkandmissedthepoint.

Re: Xbox Exec Wants To 'Celebrate' Other Console Platforms More

Jaxx420

@FuzzieGinge88 the risk with that thinking is while captialism is a hard pill to swallow competition isnt.

The one key business phrase still holds true to date "competition drives quality" if the industry was limited to two of the biggest players having a joint machine the risk of complacency goes up ten fold and quality would inevitably suffer.

While the whole acquisition thing is a different problem having a unified machine would create more problems than it solved.

Re: PlayStation Is Adding Its Own Version Of Microsoft Rewards This Year

Jaxx420

@Banjo- Gotta give it to MS Sony has been reacting to things Xbox does a fair bit last few years but it has gone the other way in the past.

We all know Jim Ryan has a rep but im not writing off the value of Sonys scheme yet loyalty schemes are very adaptable. Even if some of Sonys offerings are not.

UK here and one supermarket has never had a points scheme while others have for years. Launches their own and id argue it surpasses the rest. Took what the others did and launched it with their own spin and paid off.

Re: Microsoft Named Metacritic's Best Publisher In 2021

Jaxx420

@Banjo- you will still keep hearing it precisely because its subjective unfortunately so opinion which some will still be very vocal about regardless. Nature of the beast unfortunately!

I for one am very happy with this though. MS first party output so far is light years ahead of the latter part of last gen. No matter what console anyone owns (or multiple) in for a cracking 2022 and beyond.

Only downside is how big everyones backlog is going to get. Mines already insurmountable as it is lol.

Re: Poll: Have You Bought Elden Ring?

Jaxx420

I want to. The world is my type of thing but and what has put me off souls games is that insane difficulty. With so much in backlog im the type to get frustrated with that mechanic pretty quick. I like a challenging boss fight but its on another level for me that.

I am of course assuming this one is no more accessible in that regard than previous entries. Feel free to correct me!

Re: Sony Boss Tells PlayStation Owners To 'Expect More Acquisitions'

Jaxx420

Both companies could simply be looking at all the buyups Tencent have been making and reacting to that.

The comittment from both sides to make games multiplat makes me think while ultimately its about profits. Its also to some extent keeping companies like Tencent et al away from key developers.
