This weekend I'll be starting Final Fantasy X on Switch after having cleared Tales of Vesperia earlier in the week(a solid 8 out 10 from me, with the combat being the weakest aspect of the game) so that's gonna be nice to finally play through.
I haven't fully decided on what to play on Xbox yet but I did finally install Tales of Arise so maybe I'll start that one too, will probably play Hitman: Absolution too.
As for PS5, I may return to Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout once and for all.
On Switch: paused my playthrough of Tales of Vesperia due to combat just being an uninteresting slog and game just keeps forcing you to fight so that really killed my enthusiasm for continuing but I think I just need a break from it. Instead I finally started playing Master Detective Archives: Rain Code and will play it a bit to see if it's what I want to invest in right now.
On Xbox: I don't really have anything planned for my Xbox sessions this weekend but I guess I will slowly make my way through S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl if I do play on it.
I pre-order games pretty often and have been doing so for at least the past 7 years.
These days my pre-orders are very specific though and only for games that I really want on release day. Plus for a lot of the japanese games I have interest in, the retailers where I live seem to not stock a lot of them, resulting in them getting sold out pretty fast. The Atelier Ryza games are recent examples of games that are almost impossible to buy physically in Sweden nowadays unless you try to find them pre-owned through auction sites.
Also it should be noted that I never pre-order digital games.
As someone who primarily uses Game Pass in order to play online with friends, I'm pretty indifferent to this price raise. I was planning on downgrading to Game Pass Core anyway.
I tend to actually buy any game I want to play so missing out on the whole Ultimate library doesn't really mean much to me.
What I would really want personally is the option to only pay for the online play.
This weekend will look largely the same as last week for me:
On Xbox: Ghost Recon: Wildlands (Unless I grow tired of it yet again, this is one of the few games that has that effect on me)
On Switch: Tales of Vesperia (Gonna focus on main story until I beat it, combat is fun but gets a bit tiresome for me, but that's like the one aspect I kinda struggle to like with the game)
On PS5: Trails of Cold Steel IV is still prepped and ready to go but my aforementioned Vesperia focus means I probably won't be able to simply swap between them.
@Duck_Farmer I wish you the best of luck. 😁 Also, I apologize if my comment came across as mean-spirited or demoralizing, I promise you that was not my intention.
@Duck_Farmer I mean, Sekiro's not really a souls-like despite having similar elements.
It's honestly what I would call a Sekiro-like given it has huge focus on deflecting attacks rather than dodging them. I also would call Sekiro a tougher game in general due to later bosses kinda expecting you to master the deflection mechanic on top you being expected to have a firm grasp on the game's systems and generally knowing what you're doing. But that's just my personal observations.
Fantastic game though and one I'm glad to see be single-player only. Really makes you have to earn each victory.
...I say that but still haven't beaten the game to this day, the final boss with it's total of 4 different phases really broke me, I remember that I spent a single 12-hour session on just trying to make it past the first two phases of the fight before I gave up.
After weeks of not knowing what to really focus on, in feels like I've finally settled on one main "project" per console:
On Xbox: Ghost Recon: Wildlands
On Switch: Tales of Vesperia
On PS5: Decided to pause Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance until I feel properly ready to get back into the mindset of SMTV so I guess I will get back to my PS playthrough of Trails of Cold Steel IV once and for all
I guess it runs well enough, both in performance mode(60 fps) and in graphics mode(30 fps). I guess loading times are slightly longer than I think is necessary but at the same time it's not really something I think is annoying.
On Xbox: Baldur's Gate III and Sand Land On Switch: Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth and Cassette Beasts On PS5: Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
On Xbox: Red Dead Redemption and Modern Warfare 2 Remastered On Switch: Cassette Beasts, Trails of Cold Steel IV and Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow On PS5: Probably going to play Armored Core VI
On Xbox: Mainly Red Dead Redemption, I'm getting closer to being done with the Mexico chapter thank god, 99% of it has felt like padding for the sake of padding.
On Switch: I dunno to be honest.
On PS5: I started playing Rise of the Ronin "for real" and man, it feels great.
I'm already liking this one a lot more than Team Ninja's previous games(Nioh 2 still great tho).
My Series X and my old Xbox One S have been the most reliable Xbox consoles for me. I guess my original Xbox comes in third place.
Xbox 360 was probably my least reliable console ever, my original 360(bought at the end of 2008) broke down at the start of 2011 and out of the two Slim variants I had, they all suffered from various issues between 2011 and the end of 2014 ranging from the disc tray randomly opening and refusing to close to refusing to start properly to issues where the controllers would suddenly stop working.
The Xbox 360 gen had really good games overall but in terms of the console itself(either iteration), it was pretty bad. 😅
On Xbox: System Shock, Baldurs's Gate III and Neptunia: Sisters Vs. Sisters with Vampire Survivors on the side. On Switch: Trails of Cold Steel IV, Red Dead Redemption, Robotics;Notes and Crisis Core FFVII: Reunion. On PS5: Nothing due to all of the games mentioned above.
Honestly, visuals don't impress me these days like they did 10 years ago and this game is no different.
There's just something about realistic visuals that make me shrug.
Now, I can appreciate a good-looking game when I see one but this is not one of them.
DmC: Devil May Cry was/is amazing outside of some specific parts so that's my pick. However, I did enjoy Enslaved: Odyssey to the West a little more as a whole(even though some design choices were a bit goofy).
Shame they haven't done more games like those two.
I'm honestly not very interested in a Japan-set AC anymore. Maybe if it had come out 10 years ago or so, I would have had actual interest but these days, if I want this kinda game set in Japan, I just prefer Ghost of Tsushima or Rise of the Ronin or similar games.
On Xbox: hopefully finally will buy Baldur's Gate III and will then check it out, if not, I'm not sure what I'll play. On Switch: started reading Robotics;Notes Elite. On PS5: I might just get back to Trails of Cold Steel IV, it's about time I did.
On PS5: Neptunia ReVerse On Switch: Maybe Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney On Xbox...umm, not sure yet, kinda lost interest in Another Crab's Treasure due to me experiencing more and more glitches(and some soft-locking instances) the further into it I got. Maybe I'll get back to Lords of the Fallen(2023) or finally get back to Starfield to continue the playthrough I started when it released. I may just continue playing F.E.A.R. though.
On Xbox: Another Crab's Treasure, F.E.A.R. and possibly more Tiny Tina's Wonderlands if possible. On PS5: started Neptunia ReVerse since I beat the main game in Granblue Fantasy: Relink a couple days ago. On Switch: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.
Thought Skywalker Saga was too streamlined and, as the game went on, it got pretty boring and repetitive. Ended up dropping it due to the novelty wearing off fast but also due to me and the guy I played with coming across multiple game-breaking glitches. Also feel like some of the episodes became too tedious.
On PS5: Granblue Fantasy: Relink. On Xbox: F.E.A.R. and possibly gonna play Tiny Tina's Wonderlands in co-op with friends. On Switch: Most likely nothing.
This weekend is all about getting through the final stretch of Monster Hunter Stories 2(has been an amazing journey so far, easily one of the best monster-raising games out there) and maybe some more Disco Elysium on the side.
Pretty mediocre month for me given that I already own/have beaten most of these games but at least Evil West being added meant I finally had a reason to return to it for a second playthrough and I finally got to play it in co-op with a friend.
I generally fail to notice the benefits of ray tracing and tend to avoid using it if I can so I would say that yes, it's a waste of resources in general.

2 of them are this year(Avowed and the Indiana Jones game) and the rest are 2025 and beyond.
Re: Poll: How Would You Grade Ubisoft Forward 2024?
Definitely getting an F from me.
Except for Star Wars: Outlaws, Ubisoft has nothing these days that piques my interest and that's fine with me.
Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Xbox Games Showcase 2024?
I guess I'd give it a C, I guess...?
Haven't really gone through any news article yet to read up on what was shown but at least we're getting a new DOOM game so that's something at least.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 8-9)
On Xbox: Red Dead Redemption and Modern Warfare 2 Remastered
On Switch: Cassette Beasts, Trails of Cold Steel IV and Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow

On Xbox: Another Crab's Treasure, F.E.A.R. and possibly more Tiny Tina's Wonderlands if possible.

On Switch: Most likely nothing.

This weekend I'm gonna play Disco Elysium and Monster Hunter Stories 2(big surprise, I know).
Maybe some Evil West in co-op aswell.
Re: Pick One: What Was Your Favourite Xbox Game Pass Game In March 2024?

Re: Talking Point: Has Ray Tracing Been A 'Complete Waste Of Time' For Xbox Series X|S?
I generally fail to notice the benefits of ray tracing and tend to avoid using it if I can so I would say that yes, it's a waste of resources in general.

I'm planning on wrapping up Deus Ex: Human Revolution today(am literally at the end) and then we'll see if I return to Monster Hunter Stories 2 or play something else entirely.
I am interested in playing Rise of the Ronin but I should probably prioritize other games before I start that one.

Re: These 10+ Games Are Coming To Xbox Next Week (March 18-22)
Will probably get both Dragon's Dogma II and Rise of the Ronin.

This weekend I'm continuing to play Monster Hunter Stories 2 on Switch, dunno what I will play on Xbox, if I even play on it.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 2-3)
This weekend I have RoboCop: Rogue City(second playthrough, playing on Xbox), Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin(Switch) and Trails of Cold Steel IV(PS4 version, played on PS5) that I'm rotating between, with some Remnant 2 in co-op on the side.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 24-25)
This weekend I'm maybe going to play Chrono Trigger(the DS version) since I'm way too exhausted after the past week for anything else.
I gave the Unicorn Overlord demo a go on Switch though, since I have really enjoyed Vanillawares previous games but I dropped it, this type of tactical RPG is just not clicking with me.
(Basically, move units around in real-time and then watch the battles play out according to tactics you've set for each character before-hand, it's kinda way too passive for me)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 17-18)
Business as usual for me, still not done with Trails of Cold Steel III but I'm hoping I can beat it by the end of next week so I can finally play something else for once.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 10-11)
Business as usual for me this weekend, which at this point is just Trails of Cold Steel 3...
I'm 86 hours in now and about to start chapter 4 so at least that's something.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 3-4)
Business as usual for me this weekend.
Which means Trails of Cold Steel III. 😅
Will at least try to play something else this weekend, most likely Black Ops: Cold War.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 27-28)
This weekend I'm still too busy with Trails of Cold Steel III to want to play anything else.
Amazing game and quite a bit longer than the previous two, which is always a plus for JRPG's.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 20-21)
This weekend I'm probably finally gonna start playing COD: Black Ops Cold War on Xbox in addition to continuing my journey in Trails of Cold Steel III on the Switch.

While the general concept is great, the game suffers(in my opinion) from being a survival game at its core.

On Xbox, I'll probably just play chill games like OlliOlli World and such.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 30-31)
This weekend I'm going to continue playing Trails of Cold Steel II, hopefully I can beat it within the next few sessions.
And until I do beat it, I won't play anything else.
