I’ve been contemplating for a while that with all the drama surrounding Xbox constantly, the lack of trust in leadership, and the apparent disregard for their most loyal customers that Xbox was going to do something to make it easy to leave. Then they raised the game pass price, and that was the final straw for me. I’m still around because it is my favorite console, I have a lot invested in the ecosystem, and I really loved Xbox yet I’ve decided for now that I’m not investing any further in the ecosystem.
I have a rog ally x and play anywhere was a huge incentive because I could play games on that and my Xbox and seamlessly switch between the two. Now I am slowly migrating over to steam.
Maybe. I already have the Rog ally x, and really like it. Yet unless there is either something wrong with my ally or something particularly compelling about this, I’ll hold off.
I’ll be honest. I read this article, and my reaction as an Xbox fan is I don’t care at all. I don’t mind in the least that it is going on PS5, and the only thing that struck me as strange about this whole thing is that it came in the form of an announcement instead of at the Xbox showcase. If this was Nintendo or Sony, they would be promoting this through their show.
At the end of the one x era, I bought a 5tb external hard drive, and it has stood me well for that console and now this. It is quick to transfer between them, and it effectively means I get 6 tb of storage.
Finishing up deaths door finally before it leaves gamepass at the end of the month. Then maybe some tunic, or maybe some dynasty warriors origins if it comes in the mail.
I split my time between my rog ally and my Xbox, which I mainly stream. I like sitting downstairs and gaming, yet I also like gaming on a handheld so this gives me the best of both worlds.
I know that it has been a rough year as an Xbox fan, yet I still play games on my Xbox, use the ecosystem on my Rog ally, and talk to my friends who play on Xbox. I also re-upped my game pass subscription. On the other hand, you read comments on this website, and people seem to be really mad with Xbox. I know that I felt like I had been hit with a gut punch at the beginning of the year. Yet they delivered on getting Japanese publishers to stop skipping the platform, and have strong partnerships with Capcom, square enix, and even atelier is publishing on the platform next year.
This is a great thing. With Diablo iv, you can just login to battle net on any platform and access your character. This is a great way to unify the Xbox experience.
To be honest, not sure how I’m feeling about this one. I love Indiana jones, just not sure if I’m in the mood at the moment. I just picked up a bunch of things for Black Friday so I have a lot to choose from.
Loved metal slug. I’ve been looking forward to that for years, so it was a nice surprise. The others weren’t really in my wheelhouse, yet we shall see.
There were some pretty steep discounts on switch, ps5 and Xbox, so I picked up some deals that I’ve wanted to play and am waiting for them to arrive. In the meantime, I’m figuring out what to get digitally and what to get on the steam sale. Have a nice weekend all.
I'm waiting till I decide what I'm going to purchase overall so i can get stuff. Yet I'm looking at picking up Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster and maybe Vessel of Hatred.
Kadokawa is more of an anime and mange company, and Sony is kind of in a monopoly type position when it comes to the distribution of anime world wide. This would definitely be highly scrutinized by regulatory bodies if it happened elsewhere in the world because of Sonys position in anime, not to speak of gaming.
This is the new strategy for game pass that makes much more sense than a shot gun blast. Add games to game pass strategically to fill in holes, lower costs, and appeal to all those new subscribers who are trying out game pass for cod.
I got into this generation at the end of the last one, and I remember how I liked the pro consumer stuff of Xbox and Phil Spencer, the open gaming centric attitude, and at a time when Sony seemed to be about nickel and diming, I liked the pro-gamer image of Xbox. I also remember getting it during the pandemic, and how easy it was to transition to the new console.
I love the idea. I love my Rog ally paired with my series x. Can remote play, can play pc or console game pass, with play anywhere titles can seemlessly switch between tv and portable. I can play where I want when I want which is what Xbox is already great at. And can play games from whatever storefront I want with price competition.
I now own all the major systems, yet rarely buy for the switch or ps5. I used to primarily game on the Xbox, and bought everything there. I rent many things for that, and then buy if I want to keep. Now I have a Rog ally x, and so I primarily game on that and buy play anywhere titles on the Xbox store so I can play on both, and play the more graphically demanding game on Xbox. I also buy a bit on steam because it’s often cheaper.
I also mainly game with the rog ally x and the xbox. I wish this was advertised. I bought shin megami tensei v vengeance digitally precisely for this reason, even though at the time it was substantially cheaper to pick up a physical copy.
I just finished a complete run of sea of stars, so I’ll have to wait on this a bit. It is good to see that humble games is still releasing things after the layoff.
If I play anything. Which I haven’t decided, I am going to continue playing sea of stars. I started because I thought it was going to leave gamepass, and I am enjoying it. Waiting till visions of mana and Star Wars outlaws come out. Good wishes to everyone this weekend.
Playing through sniper elite 5 on game pass. Not my normal type of game, but I’m having fun. I am taking a break from stellar blade and unicorn overlord, and am waiting to start sandland. I find in this discussion that my preferred console is my Xbox. I like the controller better, I like the ui, and I prefer the ecosystem. When paired with a rog ally, I can remote play or sync my saves back and forth. I also recently discovered better xcloud, and I like using that with my computer and prefer remote playing with it to greenlight.
You always have to look at this type of thing with a critical mind. Is this one single person accurate. Does it reflect a broader trend, like with other things where subscriptions boomed during Covid and have shrunk since then in all types of services. The expansion of the subscription model to other areas, and fatigue about subscriptions. If this is even true. This is not just a video game trend, and it is not just a Microsoft thing.
I have been into the Xbox ecosystem since 2019, and it has been mostly a joy. I love the system and ecosystem under Phil Spencer, and it seems clear from this that that vision is gone. It bothered me in January, and I woke up this morning and I realized I don’t care about their June showcase. I am their hardcore customer, and I’m sick of them. I still read some of the things Spencer said years ago, and they sounded wonderful. This move by them now is short sided, because aaa games are getting more Expensive to make, and aa can be put out for a service like game pass or whatever and take less time and less money. Anyway, I believe that as much as I love them, and I prefer their console to anything else, I am done with them
@Blaa They perform great, though it does not run Xbox games natively. It has windows on it, which allows for great compatibility with gaming stores and support for pc game pass, but that is also its Achilles heel. For game pass games and games that support it, it has cross save and cross progression so you can play on the Xbox and put it on the ally. It also can stream to the cloud, as well as your Xbox.
People look at the situation like sales, and they don’t seem to see the connection of how Microsoft inflicted the wound themselves. The rumors and the exclusives being ported probably had something to do with the lack of console sales, and they are further poisoning it with comments like this and their actions. Maybe it makes them short term revenue but at long term expense of their identity as a brand. A lot of people have said that Microsoft is a company that is only in it to make money, but what exactly is wrong with having a vibrant fan base that cares about their product and who they are loyal to. That is what apple did for years, and it really paid off.
I’m not sure if I’m going to play anything this weekend, but I’ve been playing like a dragon ishin. Good game, but I’m going through so much to do and I’m only just starting.
This is really sad. I had been looking forward to this game , and it was originally scheduled to launch in July with nothing around it. They bumped it to August 21, which coincided with Baldurs gate 3, armored core 6 releasing within days, sea of stars, and starfield.
I still got the game and enjoyed it very much, but it bugged out and I couldn’t progress the game after 33% in. I am still waiting on a patch so I can finish the game. I liked this game, and this is sad news.
I thought it was a fun game. A little held back by the opportunity of an open world and the fatigue that can set in. I enjoyed it. It seems like Xbox is going from win to win here.
Trying to like Hogwarts Legacy. It’s clear that it’s a good game, it just may not be my type of game. I enjoy the wand combat, but find the dialogue and quests just not interesting. I like that it is in the Harry Potter world, but it may just be for a younger audience.
@Razputinman Yeah, just ignore that guy. Most of us here are gamers who have more than one system or Platform, and enjoy reading what everybody is doing each week.
@UltimateOtaku91 Not sure who owns ip, but company was originally founded in the 90s by developers who left the development of tales of phantasia to do their own thing which resulted in star ocean.
@UltimateOtaku91 Hey, yeah the developers are in bad shape. I believe it is because square Enix discontinued their main revenue source, a mobile game published in Japan.
Please consider getting this if you like star ocean. The developers are in bad financial straits and this may be their last game if this doesn’t do well. This is their final fantasy to save the company. I got my copy today.
