@Banjo- yes, agreed. So Phil Spencer promised price wouldn’t go up after approved merger. But a year after the merger, it probably will. Phil never said never.
As far as it being combined together, it was wishful thinking. You totally missed the point.
@Kevw2006 I know it’s not the same thing, but the logic of this is the same. We all know that there’s marvel comics and DC comics, but a lot of people don’t know Darkhorse comics.
Darkhorse comics is not as popular as the other two, they just don’t have the characters the popular characters to compete with DC or Marvel.
But if Dark-horse comics bought Batman, you don’t think that that would make dark horse comics, super relevant again?
@Kevw2006 the studio building thing. The problem is is it’s the lack of popular franchises or IP’s.
Sony and Nintendo already have a big jump on this, and they built it through years. That’s why the only thing Microsoft, or a new console developer coming in, has to buy popular IP’s.
it’s very hard to find a company that can come in and keep duplicating the IP in good standards. That’s why Cellcom was a very hard on the PS3, because a new developer took over and you see how that turned out same way with twisted metal. No on the PlayStation side it’s the same thing with gears of war and halo. But every once in a while, you get lucky with Spider-Man, or a developer can come in and make something of it.
So no, I don’t think that’s a Microsoft’s fault. Fanboy ism is real. And you Gotta have the right product to pull people away.
@Kevw2006 @Neverwild have you guys noticed they cut production down an PSVR 2? It’s because Microsoft is actually building something to compete with.
I mean, Sony literally dominates the market to where they can turn around and claim that they’re already making profit from the PS five then put in a cheaper heat sink, then they made heatsink even cheaper because they redid it twice.
Then they upped the cost on the PS fives after they’re already making profit in every country except the US because the US has Microsoft and they’re competing
If you guys are oblivious to the monopoly that Sony has your nuts.
They literally have $1 trillion company by the balls.
@Neverwild dude are you not read my posts? I’m not mad about the Spider-Man thing I was using it as an example I’m for the merger I’m for Sony to have Spider-Man like I said, I like the competition.
@Kevw2006 dude you’re not listening to anything that I’ve said. When you get a chance look up the size of the developers, you’ll find that they more than double the size of Xbox is studios.
Naughty dog actually has two studios. They’re broken into team a team b . Dude trying to drive and talk at same time. The studio that makes Killzone and Horizon has three studios.
Sony has six studios that have over 400 developers
Microsoft has zero. If I remember correctly 343 Industries is their biggest studio.
Because of this merger, Sony is no longer big focusing on PlayStation VR. They upgraded the PS five before it was even announced because they had beta builds of the Xbox series X, and realized how much more powerful it was, and made a last-minute adjustments on the PS five.
They got the beta build of the Xbox because of MLB the show. A lot of people don’t look stuff up so they don’t know that, I thought I’d fill you in on something new, because the PS five was severely under powered and had a standard hard drive in it originally.
There’s multiple PlayStation executives and developers and third-party developers that talked about it before the console was even announced.
Also, go back and look at my comment earlier about the 360 versus the PS3 in the PS3 versus the PS4
I’ll say it again competition is good. When the 360 was killing it. Sony had to step up their game during the PS3 era and they released more titles and new IP‘s, then they did on the PS4 era. (First Party) not third.
on the PS4 they never released a Socom, Twisted Metal, Resistance, Warhawk, and others.
PS3 new ips Resistance, Starhawk, PlayStation all-stars, little big planet, MAG, folklore, heavenly sword, the last of us, uncharted, Demon Souls, and much more
@Kevw2006 Spider-Man games has always been multi-plat and on all platforms, even Sega before they went out of the console business.
I also haven’t looked up all the franchises. I don’t really care about the franchises. I think buying studios is important for the gaming industry and companies. Remember, it’s all about competition and competing. I own both consoles.
I do believe in order for anyone to compete with Sony. They have to be allowed to buy some of these companies with established franchises.
Sony’s been around for how long? Basically, since the beginning it’s allowed them to accumulate studios and franchises to where people can’t just start up their own Console and be successful.
Microsoft is doing the only thing they can do to compete. If Tencent starts their own console like it’s rumored, they’ll do it the absolute right way.
@Sol4ris i’ve always considered Square Enix and their studios first party PlayStation studio.
Sue for taking Spider-Man and Wolverine games off other consoles and made it exclusive. When they started out on every console.
I didn’t see people complaining when Sony was buying studios and taking franchises off other peoples consoles.
I pointed out in a comment earlier of games that are already released just this year and people don’t recognize them as Microsoft Studios because their games are on other platforms (PS, PC, Phones, and or Switch).
This merger allows Microsoft to compete, not take over.
@Rmg0731 @AstraeaV They just released Hi-Fi, Mighty Doom, Goldeneye, Age of Empires 2, and Ghostwire.
Soon Minecraft Legends and RedFall.
Later this year Forza Motorsport and Statfield.
Pretty sure I over looked a already released game or later released game.
Your guys first party game releases are ridiculous and shows they need this Activision merger.
Sony is releasing a bunch of remasters and games that was already worked on before the pandemic
Microsoft owned 5 studio’s I think a year before the pandemic. What did you expect?
Do some research the size of some of these studios are small that Microsoft owns. Naughty dog, Santa Monica studios, Bungie, and others eclipse how many developers are in one of Microsoft Studios.
@jordan1992 and they’ve kept their word about not limiting games to one platform.
All Microsoft games are on PC, Xbox, TVs, cell phones, Steamdeck, and Nintendo when they allow it
I have yet to see Microsoft and or Phil Spencer lie this GEN
Sony on the other hand, is full of something. Sony said everything that started out on PlayStation years ago should stay on PlayStation because it was multi platform, that was their argument for call of duty, but Spider-Man has literally been on every platform ever made, Sony made it exclusive Haha
Either way, Microsoft isn’t going to make call of duty exclusive. So, let it go. Minecraft is still on everything, no limitations to Content, and or quality.
@jordan1992 you got to have the quality developers. If you haven’t noticed the quality developers are all tied up. Plus a lot of companies aren’t going to sign up with Microsoft because they haven’t really been successful like PlayStation has.
You can’t just magically make a gem developer there’s a reason they’re called gems
there was way more exclusives that released during the PS3 era then the PS4. They even release their older ips twisted metal, Warhawk, socom, and more. New ips during ps3 uncharted, the last of us, resistance, Little Big, planet, demon souls, PlayStation all-stars, lair, and more
Also, Microsoft never lied about Bethesda. If you go find interviews, the exact words used was existing IPs would remain on PlayStation.
Which they’ve kept their word. The word you was looking for is franchise. Elder scrolls six was not an existing IP yet.
@jordan1992 at the end of the day one thing you and I can both agree on is, we both love gaming.
Think about the 360 and PS3 era, both was killing it with good quality games. Now again, think about the PS3 versus the PS4 era. Write down all of the first party, IP’s new and old do not include remakes or remasters. The PS3 was killing it because they had competition. You’ll find that there’s a big difference
@jordan1992 last I checked the little big planet dev was known before sony bought them. Stick with me
Plus Microsoft has to buy well-known ips to be able to complete with a company that’s been around a generation and a half before they came around. Sony and Nintendo established fan base doesn’t let others in (money is a key factor)
Competition is a good thing, but I feel like that’s what you guys are losing sigh of. It goes back to my comment about the PS3 versus the PS4 era and like of first party games new and old ips not including remakes or remasters
I’m a little lost in why this is a bad thing because call of duty is still coming out on PlayStation.
@jordan1992 when did I compare little big planet to cod?
You’re losing this argument so you making things up? Gotcha, or did you forget what we’re talking about? Little Big Planet being a AAA title, which it is
@EvenStephen7 true. Most of the ones were the good workers get laid off the company is usually going under. Do you really think Halo infinite was successful or well received? How do you feel marketings been for Microsoft?
It does suck. I can also tell you haven’t read all my comments.
@jordan1992 little big planet company still wasn’t owned by PlayStation, so your argument has no bearings. They were AAA studio before they were bought. Lol
@jordan1992 i’m lost by your statement here just because they were bought, They weren’t going to continue to grow and make better games? It doesn’t erase the fact that they were already making AAA games before they were bought bud.
And naughty dog made games for more than just Apple, they made web games, Sega games, and 3DO console before PlayStation
Also Naughty Dog also has almost 40 years of experience versus somebody like 343 Industries who has maybe 15 years
@jordan1992 Crash during that time, was a AAA title. Lol
MMolecule studios little big planet before they were bought, that’s not a triple A title? Get out of here. They made a little big planet in 2008 before Sony bought them in 2010.
Plenty more examples if you want me to keep going
Sony didn’t make them AAA studios they made themselves AAA and then Sony bought them.
@bpomber dude you had a whole other paragraph for the start of your comment
You said
Microsoft's net worth is $1.7 trillion. They just spent $69 billion on the Activision/Blizzard deal. Yet they lay-off people who are just trying to scrape by.
Then you said
This is why I'll never understand why people (especially on this site) will spend so much effort shamelessly defending a corporation who doesn't care about you.
The first part, there’s a reason they got laid off they weren’t doing their job….. halo was not well received and marketing hasn’t been good. If you were scraping by, you think you’d try harder to keep your job.
@Sam_TSM I don’t think anybody here is defending. In the long run GamePass will make Microsoft a ton of money, but saves to consumers money (I mean the pure gamers on their end). It’s a win-win for both.
Sony charges you 70 bucks for a game then charges you another 10 just to be able to play online. Microsoft, you can do the 60 bucks and then get charged 10 or you can do the $15 for game pass ultimate with day one exclusives
Sony releases two exclusives from their first party on average a year and they roughly sell about 10 million copies each. Last report of subscribers for game pass ultimate was 25 million. Then because of a game you normally wouldn’t buy you’re also buying add-ons because you’re not spending as much on games which Microsoft gets a bigger profit on add-ons so does Sony. Do the math. Microsoft is raking in the money.
Problem they’re losing the bigger AAA from other companies that don’t want to use GamePass, which in turn is hurting them because they don’t have the IP‘s, their an American company with not a lot of console sales so most developers don’t even want to build for them, and they don’t have 30+ old franchises that are greatly loved, like Mario, twisted metal, so on and so on.
But it’s very smart and good business. If you get a job there be good because they’re going to be around for a long time.
Plus, the caveat is games like Minecraft and call of duty release on all platforms. Then you have your other exclusives that push you towards your Console. Which Microsoft still doesn’t technically have the IP‘s, that’s one of the reasons they’re last in consoles.
i’m looking at this from a consumers point. wouldn’t you love to have PlayStation plus day one Sony exclusives?
@bpomber you don’t have a point and I’m not defending. I’m stating facts on an Xbox website.
You sound like a disgruntled employee, about your own company you work for, and feel like the world and that company owes you. Save your money and be better.
I’m a manager, the world is rough right now, has long as you are good at your job you’re irreplaceable and trust me companies know that.
If you get fired or let go in a successful company, it’s you and you need to look in the mirror. You not as good as you think you are, it could be anything from your work ethic, attendance, and or your attitude
@bpomber but if you said you know why they do it, then why attack these companies when you know that it’s a business thing?
In order for a business to stay around they have to trim fat. buying or investing other companies that is already proven successful will help you even more with your success.
they got a great severance package the ex-employees.
it’s a business. If they just pay for dead weight they’ll eventually go out of business. Plus they have millions of employees to take care of.
Halo was a let down, time to trim. If you think Sony doesn’t or hasn’t ever, you’re crazy. Zipper, incognito, and many others. Plus that doesn’t include the film companies Sony has closed
@WallyWest it was six!!! Six years not three. Microsoft was extending the deal by 3 years, 6 years was the total.
If you can’t see that Sony is a monopoly in the gaming industry, I don’t know what’s wrong with you.
Sony has already increased their prices in games, Sony wanted them to be $80 not &70 but the rest of the industry said it would kill the Indy games. Sony already said they’re making a profit in console last year, they put a cheaper heat sink in, months later, they put an even cheaper heat sink in not making the console cheaper but actually increasing the price, but you don’t see the monopoly?
Plus, Microsoft has bought studios before and kept their games on other consoles without any impact in content, quality, or pricing, hence Minecraft.
@jordan1992 Sony started at a different time. Sony is way developed before Microsoft even came along. You can’t compare the two.
Sony was already developed monopoly before Microsoft even started.
Developers aren’t doing well. That’s why when one closes two more open, you gotta have that instant hit.
Xbox has IPs but the original developers are gone. You can’t just tell developers to start working on this ip, there never as good as the original dev. Example Halo and PlayStation side Socom- the game was not the same.
Plus isn’t Sony buying devs? You’re not complaining about them buying developers and they’ve closed down a bunch of devs Zipper Interactive, Incognito, and many more.
Sony fanboys are such hypocrites
I like the buying of developers on all sides. It makes better competition and better games. The PS3 era was night and day better than PS4. 360 made Sony compete, think about how many new and old Sony ips came out on the PS3 compared to the PS4. Do not count remakes or remastered titles
@mousieone what’s really funny is, that in order for call of duty to be what it is, It Has to stay multi platform. If I was Microsoft, I would say that a perfect example of us keeping games multi platform Minecraft. It’s consistent on everything.
Microsoft could’ve easily made Minecraft exclusive, but it would get rid of why Minecraft is as big as it is.
And the regulators definition of a monopoly Sony‘s already done every single one of them matter fact they wanted video games to go up to 80 bucks not just 70. Sony has already announced that they’re making profit on their consoles and shortly after that, they announced that they were putting in a cheaper heatsink. then a few months later they announce they’re putting in an even more cheaper heat sink.
@Rmg0731 most of the developers that Microsoft owns is way smaller than Sony‘s. It takes roughly 300 to 400 developers to make a AAA title within two years.
within two years Microsoft is actually released a ton of their first party titles. It’s just the majority of Microsoft games are multi platform, because Microsoft is friendlier with their IP’s than Sony. Two of the IP’s were already in agreement with Sony.
Minecraft dungeons, Psychonauts 2, Deathloop, ghost wire, Minecraft legends, Microsoft flight simulator, the big expansions for elder scrolls online, expansions to fallout 76, expansion to two worlds, NexGen upgrade to Skyrim, and more
Sony owns five studios that are 400 and more developers within one studio. Bungie is between 800 and 900
Microsoft has one studio around 400. Correction they laid people off, it’s smaller now.
@Chaudy not really, Microsoft lost almost all their developers. Having other companies work on others IP’s isn’t always a good thing: Sony’s Socom series and Microsoft’s Halo are good examples
@somnambulance the unreal, are you reading my comments? Microsoft 2 years ago only owned 5 studios. Microsoft’s Xbox One was not selling good, so not a lot of companies wanted to take a risk of making an exclusive for them.
Because of the pandemic every studio is behind. Sony paid money for timed exclusives, Sony is making multiple studios work on the same remake games (naughty dog, and Sony been on the last of us part one remake).
@somnambulance DeathLoop and GhostWire is from Bethesda studios, so yes they are pumping out games. I think people have unrealistic expectations. Before the pandemic Microsoft only had 5 studios. All these studios we’re working on multi platform or year exclusive before the buying of studios

@jordan1992 yeah I was just getting at the normal base pay, for one that’s flat line and advertised
Re: Ubisoft Plus Launches Today On Xbox, Full Lineup And Price Details Revealed
@Banjo- No, you missed the point.
GamePass $9.99
GamePass Ultimate $14.99
GamePass Ultimate plus Ubisoft+ $19.99
GamePass is going up in price the following year after Activision Merger
Re: Ubisoft Plus Launches Today On Xbox, Full Lineup And Price Details Revealed
@Banjo- How’s that good?
I would be willing to pay $20-$25 with Ubisoft+ included in GamePass

The first part, there’s a reason they got laid off they weren’t doing their job….. halo was not well received and marketing hasn’t been good. If you were scraping by, you think you’d try harder to keep your job.
Have fun gaming that’s what I’m doing
Re: Report: More Xbox Employees Impacted As Part Of Microsoft's 10,000 Layoffs
@bpomber I see you just ignored everything I said.
You’re hating on a company that you have no reason to hate on.
You were trying to argue about a company laying off employees that everyone agrees hasn’t been good.
Re: UK Authority Proposes Excluding Call Of Duty From Xbox Activision Blizzard Deal
@jordan1992 you guys act like naughty dog was a scrub company when Sony bought them
Re: Report: More Xbox Employees Impacted As Part Of Microsoft's 10,000 Layoffs
Re: Report: More Xbox Employees Impacted As Part Of Microsoft's 10,000 Layoffs
@bpomber you don’t have a point and I’m not defending. I’m stating facts on an Xbox website.
You sound like a disgruntled employee, about your own company you work for, and feel like the world and that company owes you. Save your money and be better.
I’m a manager, the world is rough right now, has long as you are good at your job you’re irreplaceable and trust me companies know that.
If you get fired or let go in a successful company, it’s you and you need to look in the mirror. You not as good as you think you are, it could be anything from your work ethic, attendance, and or your attitude
Re: Report: More Xbox Employees Impacted As Part Of Microsoft's 10,000 Layoffs
@bpomber if you get let go by a successful business, there’s a reason
I’m looking at 343 industries and Halo
Marketing
Re: Report: More Xbox Employees Impacted As Part Of Microsoft's 10,000 Layoffs
@bpomber but if you said you know why they do it, then why attack these companies when you know that it’s a business thing?
In order for a business to stay around they have to trim fat. buying or investing other companies that is already proven successful will help you even more with your success.
they got a great severance package the ex-employees.
Re: Report: More Xbox Employees Impacted As Part Of Microsoft's 10,000 Layoffs
@bpomber So why did you even make a comment, when you should know it’s just business and all businesses do this, especially successful businesses?
I brought up Sony for comparison since they’re in the same field. It would be weird for me to compare RoomsToGo to Microsoft
Re: Report: More Xbox Employees Impacted As Part Of Microsoft's 10,000 Layoffs
@bpomber
it’s a business.
Re: Sony Feels Microsoft Is Committing 'Obvious Harassment' In Relation To ActiBlizz Deal
Re: UK Authority Proposes Excluding Call Of Duty From Xbox Activision Blizzard Deal
Re: UK Authority Proposes Excluding Call Of Duty From Xbox Activision Blizzard Deal
@Somebody I 99% agree but I would actually sell it to Amazon because Amazon only makes PC games.
Re: UK Authority Proposes Excluding Call Of Duty From Xbox Activision Blizzard Deal
Re: UK Authority Proposes Excluding Call Of Duty From Xbox Activision Blizzard Deal
Re: Microsoft Refers To Lack Of Xbox Exclusives As Why ActiBlizz Deal Should Be Approved
@Chaudy Sony was forcing developers to work together to do remakes, which take less time to make
Microsoft is working on new games not remakes. Plus a lot of Bethesda’s games had contracts with Sony.
Re: Microsoft Refers To Lack Of Xbox Exclusives As Why ActiBlizz Deal Should Be Approved
@Chaudy not really, Microsoft lost almost all their developers. Having other companies work on others IP’s isn’t always a good thing: Sony’s Socom series and Microsoft’s Halo are good examples
Re: Rumour: Xbox Is Talking To 'Major' Japanese Publishers About Acquisitions
@LX_FENIX Bethesda and Activision sold to them, they wanted to sale. I like how a lot of people act like Microsoft is doing hostile takeovers.
If this was Sony everyone would be okay with it. Sony didn’t make Naughty Dog studio, they bought them.
Re: Rumour: Xbox Initially Planned To Launch 9 Exclusives In 2023
@somnambulance Sony did build there portfolio and they bought there’s too. Naughty Dog was bought bud.
There’s also been a pandemic that hasn’t happened during PS reign. PS is in the same boat of first party studios being behind.
Microsoft is doing what every console company has done, buy developers. This includes Sega. Activision came to them wanting to sale. So did Bethesda.
Re: Rumour: Xbox Initially Planned To Launch 9 Exclusives In 2023
@somnambulance the unreal, are you reading my comments? Microsoft 2 years ago only owned 5 studios. Microsoft’s Xbox One was not selling good, so not a lot of companies wanted to take a risk of making an exclusive for them.
Because of the pandemic every studio is behind. Sony paid money for timed exclusives, Sony is making multiple studios work on the same remake games (naughty dog, and Sony been on the last of us part one remake).
Microsoft is honoring existing contract with Sony
Re: Rumour: Xbox Initially Planned To Launch 9 Exclusives In 2023
@somnambulance DeathLoop and GhostWire is from Bethesda studios, so yes they are pumping out games. I think people have unrealistic expectations. Before the pandemic Microsoft only had 5 studios. All these studios we’re working on multi platform or year exclusive before the buying of studios
Re: Rumour: Xbox Initially Planned To Launch 9 Exclusives In 2023
@Dezzy70 rainbow six siege is probably a closer example, but they didn’t even have a campaign
