If they start putting EVERYTHING on PlayStation day and date then I probably would start asking myself why I have an Xbox. But we've been hearing that halo is going to PlayStation for years now and it still isn't but I'm not saying it won't happen but it won't be halo infinite, it'll the master chief collection or maybe even just halo anniversary which I think makes sense, why not make a bit of revenue from old games.
Sony isn't in a great place right now, otherwise they wouldn't be cancelling games left, right and center and if they were smart they'd put the old God of war games or old killzone games on Xbox gamepass..........ah but then how are they gonna do their remasters?
@Medic_alert I know the question wasn't for me but I'll try to answer but I'm also a person that went from PS5 to series X.
For me the value proposition of gamepass is too great to ignore, especially with the prices of new releases and the fact that the games they are putting on there are not just old games or indie games, they are putting triple A, big budget games on there on day one. Another thing I really like as well that nobody really talks about is backwards compatibly, that's quite a big deal for me and is something that the PlayStation doesn't really offer past PS4 games.
Secondly, not all games are going to PlayStation day and date, games like South of midnight, avowed and hellblade 2 still have no release date in sight for PlayStation so who knows how long it could be until Microsoft decides to port them over? Look how long it's taken them to port starfield, even I'm surprised by that one.
Thirdly, the PlayStation brand of today is not the same as it was in the PS1/PS2 days and I personally don't really like the direction they have taken some of their IP's like God of war and also they don't really seem to be up to much these days if we're being honest.
Microsoft are changing their strategy because they can't compete with Sony in a traditional sense, they have to change it up and move the goalposts and if they aren't selling consoles then why would they keep making a high quantity of them??
I think these rumors about them putting the master chief collection and gears 1 ultimate on PS5 isn't the white flag people think it is, they wanna give people on that side a taste of what Xbox has to offer.
They can't keep doing the same thing over and over and getting whooped by PlayStation.
If it all works out, then then production will ramp up again and stock levels will go back to normal.
I'm gonna buy it regardless but at the very least could we get mouse support or perhaps look into making a 3rd part lightgun that comes with a sensor bar
People in this comment section are talking like we're still in the mid 90's
I'm no industry expert but I can understand why Microsoft has to do things like this and change their strategy, they can't compete with Sony in console sales, the PlayStation brand is too strong so why keep fighting the same fight knowing your gonna probably lose?
So they are trying a new fight, maybe a bit dirtier but it may end up paying off in the end with the amount of rakes Sony have been stepping on lately. they didn't buy Bethesda and Activision for the sake of it, Microsoft want to be top dog and the fact that they own one of the biggest IP's in gaming (call of duty) and have taken one of Sony's biggest cash cows away in process puts them in that position. Why do you think Sony was so desperate to quash that deal?
"But they are giving up on their console" are they? The same console that has the majority of gamepass subscriptions, that console?
Y'know gamepass, that thing that is Microsoft's big play and where they are putting all their games that they have invested billions into, you think they are gonna throw away 30+ million gamepass subscribers?
Xbox consoles aren't going anywhere, watch and see.
Gonna play it on gamepass anyways, I don't like this all digital future any more than the next guy but at the end of the day that's where we are headed especially with the Xbox ecosystem which lets face it, is 90% gamepass.
Also, what is even on a disc these days? I do still collect physical but in my opinion anything past the 6th gen is a waste.
I was an Xbox one owner, as a 90's kid as soon as I saw that a new killer instinct game was coming I was sold.
I loved the Xbox one, despite all the negativity around it, it actually remains one of my favorite consoles to this day. I don't actually own an Xbox one anymore because I have a series x but I still play a lot of Xbox one games
@Phantasystar77 ok so what will you do if smaller PlayStation games start going to Xbox?
Maybe everyone else has forgot but I haven't forgotten when we was told that PlayStation games would never go to PC and look where we are now, their last release was day and date. If I'm not mistaken isn't death stranding on PC gamepass? Can you imagine halo on PlayStation now what people would be saying.
Honestly, I don't even think Starfield or Indiana Jones is going to PlayStation, I think it's gonna be sea of thieves, hi-fi rush, blade (probably got something to do with Disney owning the rights and they have a say) and all future live service games and smaller games.
If Sony were smart they would have put helldiver's 2 onto gamepass and got more people to play it and buy more battle passes and what not. See this is the thing, the way games make a profit now isn't like it was in the 90's early 2000's, we know they make most of the profits from DLC, skins, extra weapons, and all that stuff so you cant expect these companies to not want to bring these games to more people, it wont be long before sony start doing the same or at the very least start thinking about it, I still remember hearing that PlayStation games would never be on PC.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner like I said, it's just a wild theory
I'm probably way off, but the timing of all this is strange and certain pieces just dont add up no matter which angle you look at it from. One thing I don't believe is that we'll ever see halo and gears on PlayStation. This is all about Bethesda and Activision I think
What if all this was deliberate? Does nobody find the timing of all this very strange. Hot off the heels of a really good developer direct that (I'm sorry it's just the truth) was a lot better than Sony's and around the time of your competitors showcase thingy.
All eyes are on Xbox right now, it's like they are baiting playstation owners with the possibility of having their games and could at the last second say "we never said that" "it was all rumours" "WE never said anything"
There would be no blowback because officially nothing was announced and now they've got the entire industry watching them and then announce new hardware like this new handheld we keep hearing about.
I'm not saying any of this is true, it's just a theory but stranger things have happened
@Kaloudz well no it's not on us, they said EXCLUSIVE, not timed timed exclusive, not early access, not "you guys get first dibs"
We can't start changing what words mean, if starfield does go to other platforms then they lied, pure and simple and I'm not sure I can trust what these people say moving forward. Like I've said, none of this is doing the brand any favours but I also think it's being blown out of proportion.
Ok so at first I was running for the hills when I heard this news but now I'm starting to worry less and less.
Think about it, there are 30 or so million people subscribed to gamepass are they really gonna say "soz guys, keep your money coz we're outta here" What sense would that make?
Let's not kid ourselves, Microsoft has never really made much profit from any console and have suffered two L's back to back, you can't expect them not to rethink their strategy at some point. Sony likes to brag about all their console sales but I wonder how much profit they are actually making off those sales, they aren't putting their games onto PC out the kindness of their hearts and their latest console revision looks like something from temu.
Same with switch, it's selling incredibly well but anything that isn't Nintendo or kiddy can hardly shift 500k copies, look at bayonetta 3, one their big, mature exclusives. I think it only sold around 1 million despite have an install base of over 120 million.
Point is don't believe the grass is greener on the other side, some just play their hand sooner than others that's all.
@Kaloudz ok what you just said makes sense but then why say that starfield is exclusive if it isn't?
We'll see next week because for all we know starfield will stay exclusive, I mean from what I can remember this all started from some datamined t-shirts in hi-fi rush, the rest is all he said, she said.
There is one piece of the puzzle that does not fit and makes zero sense, if they are just gonna put all of (or most of) their games onto the competitors platform then why fight for a whole year to acquire Activision? They could have just let people know behind the scenes that "it's all good, we're going third party"
Awww man, I really hope so. I know the Xbox brand won't go away straight away but it will be the beginning of the end and I'm too poor and dumb to build a PC and don't wanna have to buy a crummy PS5.
People can spin this any way they want but if all this is true then it's more or less the killing blow to the Xbox console and brand. They'll just end up like sega which isn't a terrible thing but it just means that the market will be left to Sony which isn't good for anybody, not even playstation fans because you can bet they'll take liberties wherever they can and won't be compelled to deliver quality if there's no competition.
I personally got no problem with all digital anymore, once you factor in patches, updates and DLC what are you even left with? Not to mention console disc drives and/or cartridge slots don't last forever as we're starting to see with a lot of retro consoles.
But what needs to happen is some kind of law that protects digital purchases for the customer that has paid money for that game, look at what Sony did with that discovery show
And some people just won't see it, a platform, an ecosystem, whatever you wanna call it needs exclusive content in order to give it value and to be enticing. It's sad because I genuinely am not a fan of "new" Sony and prefer what Xbox is doing but at the end of the day, Xbox gonna xbox
We can dance around this but everything needs a reason to be owned unless it's free. I personally don't see what purpose bringing a niche title like hi-fi rush serves other than alienating you core audience, I highly doubt this make much money. forget consoles even for gamepass. Like CM punk said "the grass is greener where you water it" and to me it just feels like that mate you play monopoly with that buys all the property early on then ends up the first one losing.
Your platform or service or whatever needs exclusive content to give it value, why is it only Microsoft that can't seem to get their heads around this, there is no chance you will ever see last of us or god of war on Xbox, never gonna happen in the same way you will never see a netflix movie on Disney+
@Kaloudz just to make it clear I was speaking purely from a customers perspective not an Xbox fan, to be fair I've only been an Xbox fan since the Xbox one and would have no problem playing Xbox games on other platforms......just let me know is all I'm saying.
But if this is indeed true then are we gonna say down the line, "well it's only starfield, it's only hellblade 2" which are 2 games I specifically purchased a series X for, do you see what saying?
You let me know when smaller Sony games like retunal come to xbox
I take issue with this not because I don't want people playing Xbox games elsewhere but because as a customer and someone that invested in Microsoft's product over the competition I should be made aware that I can play these games elsewhere because if that is the case then I would have gotten a PS5 and had the best of both worlds.
If Disney+ started putting their content onto Netflix then why would I keep my subscription to Disney+ ?
My loyalty as a customer and the fact that I've chosen your product should be rewarded with exclusive content, anybody saying otherwise is in denial or delusional.
It's a shame because I genuinely prefer Xbox consoles to the other 2 platforms, I hope they keep making consoles for the foreseeable future.
I think the problem is that the playstation brand is so strong that when people think gaming they think playstation but as someone that owned a PS5 at launch (and paid a lot, trust me) and that now owns an Xbox series X, I know which one I much prefer.
I'm a little gutted it's not getting a physical release, I was hoping for a collector's edition with a nice steelbook and art book.
But then again most people will be playing this on game pass anyway and who knows what will happen in the future, in terms of the games length I'm actually glad it's a little on the shorter side, to many games are bloated and boring and there just aren't enough hours in the day.
Gimme something I can enjoy and complete comfortably anyday
I enjoyed the campaign somewhat, it was "alright" I guess.
I think the sad thing is that it's just GONE, at the very least make the campaign available to whomever may want to try it, the game has been made, it's finished, why just throw it in the bin???
I've had a lot of time with Redfall and was very forgiving at first, I think it's because I'm a big horror fan and liked the atmosphere and shooting vampires and I still do but the cracks are more than evident after 7+ hours of play.
These Xbox 360 graphics, textures and performance in a AAA first party Xbox series x game are unacceptable and there really is no other way to put it and Microsoft really didn't have the wiggle room for such a failure and I don't know who but someone needs to be demoted or fired for allowing this game to release in this state and ask full price.
In terms of bugs I've encountered very few and nothing anywhere close to game breaking so there's a plus, the world is very fun to explore but the combat is so boring at times and the vampires are just not scary in the slightest and feel more like hotel Transylvania than Salem's lot.
Despite everything I'm saying I have still been able to squeeze some enjoyment from it but I think that a lot of that comes down to the atmosphere of the town (which is something the game has going for it) and the fact that hunting vampires just feels cool.
This game is 100% NOT beyond saving in my opinion, the 60fps will go a long way in improving the feel of the game and if they fixed up the textures, filled out the town a bit more with NPC's and more varied side quests, tweaked the A.I and made improvements to co-op this could easily be a fun little game worth everyone's time.
I love how so many sony fanboys keep saying it's worse than forspoken, they are completely different games so comparing them makes no sense, it's like saying assassin's Creed is better than forza.
It's almost as if they're are saying "your bad game is worse than our bad game so Sony wins"
@GiveMeMoney I haven't defended anything, I simply gave my opinion of the game. I don't care about playstation fanboys or Xbox fanboys all I'm saying is that I'm having fun with the game.
If you read the comment I didn't say the game was perfect and mentioned it's shortcomings but the game is NOT broken and there is fun to be had and (in my opinion) is getting more hate then it deserves. If your not happy with your Xbox then trade it in and get yourself a PS5 or switch?
Ok, so I've spent 4 and a bit hours on redfall on series x and I gotta say................I like it
First of all the game is not in any way broken despite what all the major reviews say and has a few minor bugs but otherwise runs at a solid 30fps but I will admit that 60fps would be much better and that it fact that it looks like an Xbox one game does it no favors, but the game has a great art style and atmosphere that just about save it and makes up for the aforementioned shortcomings.
The environments are fun to explore with lots of side quests and notes to read through that flesh out the back story of the town. The combat is 50/50 taking down the human enemies feels boring, they don't pose any real threat and just get in the way, BUT the vampires are a blast to go up against and will swarm you and can be genuinely creepy at times and force you to think fast and try to out manoeuvre them.
Guns are also nice and varied with a particular highlight so far being the stake gun, stealth can also be used but reviews seem to say stealth is not an option or that it's broken but it seems to work for me so not sure what they're on about.
I dunno, everyone's different but this game ain't bad at all but then again I'm the kinda guy that would choose dead island 2 over elden ring and if that sounds like you then give redfall a go.
The very best thing I can say about it is that I was never bored and I can't say the same about horizon or God of war, just putting that out there.
As a UK citizen and primarily an Xbox gamer I'm not happy with the CMA ruling at all.
Gamepass has done wonders for me and my family and as a father of two saved me a lot of money over the years since it launched, and having the whole back catalog and future COD titles on gamepass would have benefited me greatly.
The game is more than likely coming to switch and Xbox and I'm guessing Nintendo are probably the ones putting a spanner in the works, They are always over the top with these kinds of things. The fact that they pushed back advance wars due to the ongoing conflict tells me all I need to know. But come October do you think Activision will be postponing MW2?............ No chance
Yeah because it's a better and more capable machine and I'll admit I'm an Xbox fanboy this gen. I'm just hoping Microsoft don't go and do something stupid like try and create their own VR.

@Medic_alert I'll believe it when I see it
If they start putting EVERYTHING on PlayStation day and date then I probably would start asking myself why I have an Xbox.
Re: Xbox Is 'Evolving' Rather Than 'Losing' Its Identity, Says Phil Spencer
And lastly, I like the Xbox controller more

My loyalty as a customer and the fact that I've chosen your product should be rewarded with exclusive content, anybody saying otherwise is in denial or delusional.
Re: Roundup: All The Xbox Reveals From January 2024's State Of Play Event
Sonic was the only thing I was interested in lol
Re: Xbox Predicts 'Hardware Decline' Despite Huge Revenue Boost From ActiBlizz
It's a shame because I genuinely prefer Xbox consoles to the other 2 platforms, I hope they keep making consoles for the foreseeable future.
I think the problem is that the playstation brand is so strong that when people think gaming they think playstation but as someone that owned a PS5 at launch (and paid a lot, trust me) and that now owns an Xbox series X, I know which one I much prefer.
Re: Hellblade 2 Will Be A Digital-Only, Cheaper Release On Xbox And PC
I'm a little gutted it's not getting a physical release, I was hoping for a collector's edition with a nice steelbook and art book.
But then again most people will be playing this on game pass anyway and who knows what will happen in the future, in terms of the games length I'm actually glad it's a little on the shorter side, to many games are bloated and boring and there just aren't enough hours in the day.
Gimme something I can enjoy and complete comfortably anyday

Re: Xbox One Launch Title 'Killer Instinct' Gets Major Quality-Of-Life Update In 2023
People say that the Xbox one was a disaster but games like killer instinct was the reason I went with an Xbox one over a PS4
Re: In One Week's Time, We'll Be Losing This Xbox Exclusive Forever
I enjoyed the campaign somewhat, it was "alright" I guess.
I think the sad thing is that it's just GONE, at the very least make the campaign available to whomever may want to try it, the game has been made, it's finished, why just throw it in the bin???
Re: Report: Activision Blizzard Hires Royal Family-Level Lawyer To Fight UK CMA
@TheArtfulDodger don't worry it won't be kept off of playstation
Microsoft will give PS5 a cloud version of COD mobile
Re: Rumour: Microsoft Exec Hints At Hellblade 2 Appearance During Xbox Games Showcase 2023
Hellblade 2 is one of the reasons I went with an series x over PS5
Well that and the inevitable gears 6
Re: Talking Point: What Do You Think Of Redfall So Far?
Re: Talking Point: What Do You Think Of Redfall So Far?
I love how so many sony fanboys keep saying it's worse than forspoken, they are completely different games so comparing them makes no sense, it's like saying assassin's Creed is better than forza.
It's almost as if they're are saying "your bad game is worse than our bad game so Sony wins"
So sad

@Sol4ris Sony with their prices
Re: Review: Redfall - Arkane's Undead Experiment Brings Mixed Results To Xbox Game Pass
@Sol4ris and they would too, they would run wild
Re: Review: Redfall - Arkane's Undead Experiment Brings Mixed Results To Xbox Game Pass
Re: Review: Redfall - Arkane's Undead Experiment Brings Mixed Results To Xbox Game Pass
@LordFunkalot spot on, couldn't put it better myself
Re: Review: Redfall - Arkane's Undead Experiment Brings Mixed Results To Xbox Game Pass

Re: Ukraine The Latest Nation To Pass Xbox's Activision Blizzard Acquisition
As a UK citizen and primarily an Xbox gamer I'm not happy with the CMA ruling at all.
Gamepass has done wonders for me and my family and as a father of two saved me a lot of money over the years since it launched, and having the whole back catalog and future COD titles on gamepass would have benefited me greatly.
So no, it ain't all "us" brits
Re: Release Of GoldenEye 007 For Xbox Reportedly 'Still In Limbo'
The game is more than likely coming to switch and Xbox and I'm guessing Nintendo are probably the ones putting a spanner in the works, They are always over the top with these kinds of things. The fact that they pushed back advance wars due to the ongoing conflict tells me all I need to know. But come October do you think Activision will be postponing MW2?............ No chance
Re: Digital Foundry Host Says Xbox Series X Wins Most Console Comparisons
Yeah because it's a better and more capable machine and I'll admit I'm an Xbox fanboy this gen. I'm just hoping Microsoft don't go and do something stupid like try and create their own VR.
