We've been waiting for news on Age of Empires 4's Xbox port for a while, and it's arrived today in the form of a surprise shadow drop! The game is now available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S as part of Xbox Game Pass.

For those who aren't in the know, this is the most recent entry in the beloved strategy franchise which debuted back in January as part of PC Game Pass. Back then, we gave the game an "Excellent" 9/10 here at Pure Xbox, praising it as "easily one of the best Microsoft game releases of the year, and one that reminds us why we fell in love with the RTS genre in the first place".

We'll throw some more information and screenshots for Age of Empires 4 down below. The version arriving on Xbox Game Pass is the "Anniversary Edition", which includes a bunch of extra content that wasn't in the original release.

"Celebrating its first year of delighting millions of global players, the award-winning and best-selling strategy franchise continues with Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition, putting you at the center of even more epic historical battles that shaped the world."
