This should be more about mods than the game in itself. Let’s say you put a video on youtube where there’s a pikachu being beaten with a pickaxe and enslaved. They don’t want that, hence those words about nurturing pokemon.
I have to admit the success of this game annoys me to death and I’m still trying to process exactly why. It has to be this mix of vulgarity, pointlessness of mechanics that are just left to the player instead of being tuned, the fact that a broken game is having this success at a time when tens of thousands of devs that probably made great games are losing their job and so on.
What I really think is that this game yes, can give you some fun, but there are so many cheaper and definitely better, more satisfying “fun” alternatives that the point of playtesting this mess is beyond me. The only rational explanation I can find is that the whole phenomenon is just viral replication of what the youtubers are doing, probably with the not-so-secret hope to become the next famous streamer. I feel this “gaming subculture” very far from what gaming means to me.
Plus some morbid fantasies should be really kept in check.
@BRT15 I had no troubles after this last patch but I only did a few races, might be luck.
The game is great, ray traced Hakone at night under the rain is something else, but they have to fix the career. And a shortcut to go right away to the race would be nice as well.
@Moonglow Right now cloud games just don't have the same quality and reliability as locally executed games... And especially in VR you definitely want consistent performances.
@InterceptorAlpha that would be cool as well although to be honest I'd like to see MS launching a dedicated device + porting the games I mentioned in VR.
But I see it was Meta, not Microsoft promoting the service. Anyway I think they should enter the VR space.
They have all the money in the world, just give us a nice VR headset. They just have to put the Halo, Doom, Bethesda, Forza (and Call of Duty after the merge) games and they have the best VR line up ever.
Instead we have a pointless cloud version of an already pointless feature.
We've had item permanence in games for decades now...
Hard to talk without the full picture but if I had to guess, it's either an old engine (the creation engine 2 apparently) or an old console (the Series S of course) getting in their way. Probably both.
I'm pretty confident people on PCs will be able to play the game at 60fps without too many sacrifices to the visuals and with lower specs than the Series X.
And yet the X1 lineup was like a dream compared to what we have now on the Series.
As for the online I can’t even change the dashboard theme if I’m not connected to ms servers… they were just being downright honest with the always online rule.
I think it’s not worth the time and effort required. The only thing that might keep me going is the challenge but just like Nioh 1/2 I think this is subpar in some key areas as a soulslike. Combat has some glimpses of excellence but it forces the player too much to rely on passive rhythmic mechanics. It’s not what I was looking for right now I guess.
The problem with Gears is that at the time Epic didn’t know what to do with the franchise (their words eh), so without spoiling too much when Microsoft bought it tried to explore new characters and scenarios that in my opinion weren’t as good as those of the original trilogy.
Personally I’d make a reboot of the series forgetting everything that happened after the first half of Gears 3… streamlined, linear levels without the open worldish nonsense of gears 5.
The first Gears is one of my all time favorites, I still do a run at the hardest difficulty from time to time.
Nope, wild Hearts is not on gamepass, there’s only a 10h trial. Clearly their data tell them it’s better to leave the launch window “game pass free”. They might do otherwise on PC because these are two different markets as is widely known in the industry.
Again, I wonder how many people are subscribed to ea pro. Here we’re talking about business models that can potentially disrupt the console market, what has the pc scene to do with it?
Console and pc are different businesses. They don’t put it on ea play on console because they make a lot of money selling copies of the game and clearly don’t want it on game pass ultimate for example.
Ubisoft is a textbook example of mean practices at the heart of game design, they have nothing to do anymore with the great games I was talking about.
Also, Ubisoft is not a platform holder and their service is not even on console yet… I guess their numbers are very low anyway, they’re pretty much irrelevant for the matters we’re discussing here.
Sony, Nintendo, Take2, Activision all seem to agree that day1 releases on a service make no sense. This gotta mean something right? EA has its own service, and yet they put FIFA on it only at the end of the football season.
It’s not hard. Game Pass is good for Defenders but not for Starfield, unless subscription numbers go through the roof.
And even if it’s not bad, it’s not smart either, since they’re losing potential sales in the launch window, which tend to be important for high profile games.
Now Microsoft can play this game anyway, Sony and Nintendo probably not, so if the day1 launch on the service becomes standard practice for the industry, chances are in the long run a lot of games, great games, won’t be made.
Then again, if a gamer loves a single platform more than games, amen to that.
Strong Sekiro vibes here. Combat wise I was hoping for a new Ninja Gaiden 1/2 but looks more like Nioh. I’ll wait for you guys to review it before playing! Also, first post after months of lurking, hi everybody!

Re: Killer Instinct Anniversary Edition Update Goes Live This Week
If it has improved graphics on the xsx I’ll download again.
Still a sign of times, instead of a new game all we’re getting is a 10 year old game remastered (I guess?) and turned f2p/gaas.
Not that I need games, eh, can’t find the time to play all they’ve put on game pass these last few months, but still.

Re: DICE 'A Big Believer' In Xbox Game Pass Thanks To Player Boost For Battlefield 2042
I’m mostly a COD player but this game is awesome.
It clicked months after I first played it though, I didn’t like it at first.

Re: Ray Tracing Is Coming To Halo Infinite On Xbox Series X
@BBB
Exactly, it’s clear though it’s the multiplayer where they’re putting their efforts even if ray tracing there just doesn’t make sense.
I wanted to try the multiplayer again anyway but I found a huge file (95gb). What happened to the relatively quick install at launch? Is it all forge?

Re: Xbox 360 Era Gears Of War Director Teases Return To Franchise
@Green-Bandit they definitely deserve a proper remaster, possibly with all the multiplayer maps and modes.
Re: Xbox 360 Era Gears Of War Director Teases Return To Franchise
@Ashadelo Gears 1 still holds up, especially the Ultimate. Cool from start to finish.

I had no idea as well. Even ea must have forgotten it exists
