Re: Xbox Takes Major Step Towards Activision Blizzard Approval In UK

@Serpentes420 yeah, i agree. Like i said i have no problem people preferring one over the other. I just don’t get why some seem to think you have to choose sides. Like you’d never catch a football fan wearing a rival teams shirt, even if it’s a gorgeous looking shirt! I get that! I’m a football fan, Sheff Wednesday, i wouldn’t be seen dead in a Sheff United shirt!! With video games tho it’s bizarre!!

@Banjo- you’re very touchy. I’ve not given you any grief wat so ever. There’s really no need to be so defensive!! It just puzzles me why you hate Playstation. You’re a gamer, Playstation an Xbox are the best systems on the market, Switch is cool too but PS an Xbox are top of the pile. You’d have much more fun if you just played both. Like i said, prefering Xbox is fine, opinions and all, but the hate is really not necessary.

Re: Xbox Takes Major Step Towards Activision Blizzard Approval In UK

jordan1992

@Banjo- he basically called you a fanboy. I’m not callin you anything but i can see why he said that. I’m not anti Xbox just because i prefer Playstation. Like i said, i wish i couldn’t choose as they both make my fav games. I love Xbox, i LOVE Playstation. You come across as tho you love Xbox an HATE Playstation.

Re: Xbox Takes Major Step Towards Activision Blizzard Approval In UK

@Banjo- @sanquine Banjo, you do come across as very anti Playstation. It’s fine to have a preference, i think i told ya before i own both PS5 an Series X, both are incredible but i do prefer the PS5 simply because their exclusives are my fav type of games. If Xbox started releasing huge, story driven games my preference may alter. I’d like to be able to say i can’t choose, both make incredible, story driven games. I live in hope Starfield lives up to the hype. Hating on Playstation comes across as very fanboyish tho, you talk about Playstation like a Manchester United fan talks about Liverpool. Hence the term fanboy.

@NeoRatt i don’t agree with it either, 3rd party games should come to all devices day 1. I’m all for exclusives made by Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo but timed exclusives should be stopped. I own all 3 consoles but not everyone does. I’m just saying it’s been about since Atari 2600 days. Xbox did it too wen the 360 had a close user base to PS3. Think PS3 sold about 3 mill more consoles than 360, it was very close.

Re: Xbox Takes Major Step Towards Activision Blizzard Approval In UK

I really don’t understand why people are so angry with Playstation paying for timed exclusivity??? This isn’t a new thing. The first console to do this was Atari 2600. They had by far the biggest user base an paid for arcade games to be exclusive to Atari. Nintendo then paid for game devs to not make any games for other systems at all. Their cartridges had a chip that prevented them being copied. Wen game devs started releasing unlicensed games for other systems Nintendo sued the devs and the companies who took the games. This was eventually deemed illegal! Playstation 1 paid for exclusivity to GTA 3, then Xbox came on the scene an did the same for various games. To slate Playstation for doing this is bizarre!!! They have all done it!!

Re: Sony Has 'Sufficient' Time To Develop Call Of Duty Alternatives, Says Microsoft

jordan1992

@Tharsman Atari 2600 was the first console to do timed exclusive games. Atari, being the dominant company in gaming at the time, was able to outbid any competitor for the hottest arcade games. Plus, many of the biggest games were actually produced by the arcade division of Atari.
There weren't many timed exclusives during the NES era because of Nintendo's strict (and eventually ruled illegal) licensing practices. Nintendo barred it's licensees from producing ANY games for competing consoles. The NES had a lockout chip, and a code must be programmed into each cartridge for the games to play. When developers found ways around the code and produced unlicensed games, Nintendo sued them, as well as threatened retailers who carried the unlicensed games. With Nintendo controlling 90% of the market, retailers couldn't afford to be cut off by Nintendo, so most declined to carry the unlicensed games.
The 16 bit era also saw few timed exclusives, but it did have one of the biggest - Street Fighter II. SFII was the biggest game of the early 90's, and Nintendo struck a deal with Capcom for an exclusive SNES home version in 1992. Although the Sega Genesis was doing very well at the time, the timed SFII exclusive caused a big surge in SNES sales, and is generally considered to be a turning point for Nintendo. Capcom would eventually release a Genesis version in 1993, but the SNES benefited the most, by far, from the most popular game of the time.
The next generation is where timed exclusives really became a major component of a company's strategy. The Sony Playstation, Sega Saturn, and Nintendo 64 were the first consoles designed to produce primarily 3D polygon graphics. Sony wanted games to show off the power of the Playstation, and they found several. Ridge Racer, Wipeout, Battle Arena Toshinden, and Destruction Derby were technically impressive (for the time), pick up and play games that really proved that the next generation had arrived, so Sony locked up timed exclusivity deals for those four games.
The PS2/Xbox/Gamecube generation saw one of the biggest timed exclusive deals of all time. Sony purchased the rights for the Grand Theft Auto series games, starting with GTA III. GTA III and GTA: Vice City are among the best selling PS2 games of all time, and Sony's timed exclusive deals put a stranglehold on the competition. GTA: San Andreas would later be a simultaneous multi-platform release, but by that time, the console race was over.
Virtua Fighter 5 was a timed PS3 exclusive, appearing on Xbox 360 a year later. Mass Effect 2 & Bioshock were major timed Xbox 360 exclusives. MS also followed Sony's example and licensed two episodes of Grand Theft Auto to be released first on Xbox 360. Our current generation has also seen the evolution of timed exclusive downloadable content, notably map packs for some of the biggest shooters.
Sorry for the long post but pretty much every console in every gen, including Xbox, have done this. Playstation became the number one selling console, PS2 being the biggest selling ever so this gives them more power in acquiring timed exclusive deals. If Xbox where the biggest selling console on the market they would 💯 do the exact same.

Re: Group Of 'Gamers' Who Tried To Sue Microsoft Faced With Dismissal In Court

jordan1992

@LightningLeader they’re not Playstation exclusives, it’s just a deal devs are willing to do as they know their game will sell massively on Playstation. I’m talking about games made by Sony/Microsoft owned devs. So TLOU, God of War, Spiderman, Miles, Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, Horizon, Ratchet an Clank, Gran Turismo, etc. xbox has Gears, Halo, Forza, etc. Sony buy devs an invest an nurture them and they turn out GOTY contenders. Microsoft simply want to buy already huge games an make them exclusive.

I played the demo, worked fine for me. This was on PS5 so dunno bout Series X, not tried on there as i assumed they’d be the same. If this is the case i think ya making a mountain out of a mole hill. So i have to push the left stick forwards 2 millimetres to move, you want to move at 1 millimetres? Like, big deal!! Digital Foundry are too expert for me. Seen lots of their vids of games saying certain games run much better on PS5 than Series X. I can’t see any difference!! Even wen i watch their vid an they pause an point at stuff i’m like???? Wtf are they looking at!? It looks the same!!

@Sam_TSM i was a big fan in late 80’s, early 90’s. Not so much now but my 9 year old twin boys are. Bought this for them an i have to say it’s very good. I’ve not bought a wrestling game since Megadrive days. A lot of the wrestlers i don’t know but there’s a lot from my time too. Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Jake the Snake, Andre the Giant, Big Boss Man, Rowdy Rody Piper, Undertaker, Brett Hart, etc.

Re: Reaction: Should Xbox Produce A Mid-Gen Upgrade If Sony Launches 'PS5 Pro'?

jordan1992

No, wat is the point!!?? PS4 pro an Xbox One X was justified, 4K TV’s had just taken off. What are they gonna improve this time? Not a cat in hells chance i’d pay another £560+ for more fps an slightly better visuals. It’s just not worth it. People harp on that PC’s are way better than PS5 an XSX. I really don’t see it, the difference is minimal! I’m 💯 satisfied with the performance my consoles have now. I think an upgrade now would be a cash grab, they haven’t released anything that can push the machines yet!! If they release one an it’s 8K, 240 fps, has a 4tb hard drive, improved haptic pad, half the size an cheaper than PS5/XSX then maybe.

Re: Sony Just Wants To 'Block' Merger, According To Activision Blizzard CCO

jordan1992

Looking at this an everything that’s been said you’d say this deal will 100% go thro regardless of Sony. You’d think Sony may as well bite the bullet an accept the deal on offer, a deal that, to me, sounds very good an reasonable. However Sony aren’t backing down, not one bit. Makes me think Sony must have something up their sleeve that they think will def scupper the deal. I trade a bit in shares an av been eyeing Activision for a while, they’re currently about £77 per share. If the deal goes thro i’ve read MS will pay share holders about £92 per share. That’s a very good profit. I’m just not 100% confident it’ll go thro because of how Sony are being. They must think they av a good chance of blocking the deal.

Re: Sony Just Wants To 'Block' Merger, According To Activision Blizzard CCO

jordan1992

@Bleachedsmiles Microsoft prob couldn’t get the same deals for COD that Sony get. Sony get exclusive content an what not because of the huge COD sales on Playstation. 70% of COD console purchases are on Playstation. If it was only about money Microsoft would win hands down an get wat ever exclusive content or early release they wanted.
