Playing a bit of Balatro. Did a no joker run this morning so I guess it's basically finished but it's definitely worth a go for anyone who hasn't tried it.
Finished it earlier and I really enjoyed it. The traditional gameplay is quite simple but it felt really uplifting to play and there are lots of different experiences despite the short playtime. And though the game is short it's just about the perfect length.
I've put a rechargeable battery pack in mine so I'm outside of this to a degree. I'm happy with this solution because it lasts ages on a charge(much longer than my old ps4 pads, do the ps5 pads last longer?)and it comes with a massive cable to charge while I play.
Finally got around to start downloading this game this morning and it's on a bit of a go slow(I'm sure all the issues are my end) and now I'm hoping it's this version and I won't have another download straight afterwards.
The thing is 4 years is a long time to have seen nothing of the game but at the same time it could only be 2/3 of the development time. The announcing of Video games doesn't seem to caught up with how long it takes to make them.
It's interesting though because for all the talk about gamepass and how it can pay for itself I have four games installed that are sequels or from publishers/developers whose previous game was also on gamepass. It must be making business sense for them otherwise they wouldn't be bothering.
It going to happen more and more. Development costs are getting ridiculous and you're having to millions of copies just to break even. You then have a further 5 years making your new game that has to do even better as during that time costs have gone up even more. Nintendo might get away with it because their games are consistent sellers and don't cost quite so much to make, but third party switch games don't do those massive numbers so very few will be exclusive. Sony is also in a strong position but they are putting much more out on PC, and a couple more Concords might push them even further.
I guess that seems about right. I have an Xbox for game pass and that means I buy less games, as will all other subscribers. The big question is can the subscription model work long term and I suppose that question has been slightly answered by the multi-platform releases.
I don't mind saying it was far too difficult to me. Difficult in a bit of an old fashioned, unfair way. I could get a win in the first three races easily enough but in the fourth whatever improvements I made the CPU players do the same, it felt like I'd need nearly the perfect race to get the win. There was absolutely no easing you in and giving you an easy level championship to learn the mechanics and then ramping up, just hard from the beginning.
Enjoyed the campaign and continue to have fun with the MP. I'm not getting much better at it but it's replaced ea fc as my short amount time game of choice.
Only played the first mission and about 5 multiplayer games but I'm enjoying it so far. I'm a lapsed FPS player since Battlefield turned rubbish so I'm absolutely terrible but I'm liking it enough to hopefully get better.
Just got the email about this and it just seems poorly worded.
My 10500 point auto redeem is ending but it encouraged me to switch to another auto redeem at 12000 points. It's a price rise in line with all the others but nothing disastrous.
Game pass quests and testing out games is where I use it. I find it works well enough for the things I use it for but where it works best are the simpler games which tend to be a 90 second download anyway.
Might have another go with this game. Plenty of time spent in split screen mp but probably not for at least 20 years. Still have the original but not worth setting up time and mess.
@FraserG useful as always. Just noticed on the Xbox rewards app, and I'm pretty certain this is new, they have a month's game pass for 10500 points using auto renew. That's a decent saving for anyone using reward points to pay for game pass.
Still playing regularly. Finished the rally expansion recently and take part in rivals challenges, although not quite as much as I did. Not bad for a game 18 months old.

Re: Xbox Game Pass Is Getting A Major Overhaul With New Names, Games & Price Changes
Not sure I like the look of this

Re: Xbox Introduces Controversial Age Verification Process In The UK
@Fiendish-Beaver just memory for me. I'm sure it's listed somewhere but I don't know where.
Re: Xbox Introduces Controversial Age Verification Process In The UK
@Ricky-Spanish that's just about where I am. My Microsoft account is 23 years old (bloody hell) so surely they can put two and two together. Surely.
Re: Talking Point: A Month Later, What Do You Think Of The New Xbox Game Hubs?
Didn't think I'd like them but I am finding them useful, achievement stats being one press away being the first thing that comes to me.
My only annoyance is forgetting it's there and expecting to look up and see an in game menu and knowing I have to wait an extra 10 seconds to play.
Re: Xbox Game Pass Is Getting Another 'Day One' Shadow Drop Today (July 21)
Excellent. Took me a few goes to "get" Descenders but when I did it was really enjoyable.

Re: Six Games Are Leaving Xbox Game Pass In Early July 2025
A couple more levels of Golden Idol for me to finish. Highly recommended if you haven't played it.
Re: Three Games Are Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (June 17)
@antonioacm that's got me interested. The first Lost in Random was a bit average but mentioning Hades definitely caught my attention.
Re: Here's What Might Leave Xbox Game Pass In July 2025
Always wanted to get round to Golden Idol so this is the kick up the backside I needed.

Re: Atomfall Was 'Immediately Profitable' Despite Launching On Xbox Game Pass
Just started it so I'll see how it goes.

Re: Indiana Jones Set To Release For PS5 In April After Four Months Of Xbox Exclusivity
Enjoyed the game. It really did have an Indy feel.

Dino Crisis maybe.

Just started Indiana Jones.

Re: GTA 6 'Likely' To Make More Than $1 Billion Before It Launches In 2025, Say Analysts
I can believe the numbers but the game will have to be much better than GTA 5 for any of it to be from me.
Re: Talking Point: Is 2025 The Year We See Everwild On Xbox?
Small snippet of video, maybe this month is a bit early.Perhaps June would be more likely. No chance of 2025 release.
Tbh I've forgotten about this game so a few appearances to get the hype up a bit would be a good idea.
Re: 30 Xbox Series X|S Games To Look Forward To In 2025
Certainly no shortage.

Re: Battlefield 1 Gets Reduced By 100% On Xbox, And More Games Could Follow Very Soon
I've played this to death on PS but will almost certainly have another look.
Re: Xbox Engineer Uses Indiana Jones To Show Off New Gamerpic Feature
Still using the same pic I chose 3 years ago so I'll hopefully find something else using this.
Re: Xbox's Avowed Team 'Very Confident' About Competing With Other Big Releases Next Year
Those other games listed don't really appeal to me and I doubt I'm unique in that regard so there'll be plenty of players for all of those.
Re: Call Of Duty Becomes Most-Played Game On Xbox After Incredible Black Ops 6 Launch
Enjoyed the campaign and continue to have fun with the MP. I'm not getting much better at it but it's replaced ea fc as my short amount time game of choice.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of 'Flintlock: The Siege Of Dawn' On Xbox So Far?
It's not for me. No complaints about the way it looks or how it plays it's just not my type of game.

Re: Two Games Are Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (April 9)
Both look interesting and come at a time I'm looking for something new to play.
Re: Dead Island 2 Seems To Be Proving Very Popular On Xbox Game Pass
Played it but knew it wouldn't be my thing. I just can't get on with jump scares in games and there lots of doors to be opened.
Re: Two Games Are Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (January 18)
The first Turnip Boy was good so I'm hoping this one will be too.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 26-27)
Bramble: The Mountain King. Enjoying it but it hasn't gone quite how I expected it to.
Re: Talking Point: What Would Convince You To Use Xbox Cloud Gaming More Often?
Game pass quests and testing out games is where I use it. I find it works well enough for the things I use it for but where it works best are the simpler games which tend to be a 90 second download anyway.
Re: Microsoft Rewards: How To Claim 1000 Bonus Points On Xbox In August 2023
Cheers.
And for all the talk of MS cutting down on what you can earn from Rewards I'm pretty sure I'm getting as much as I always have.
Re: How To Complete All Xbox Game Pass Quests In 2023
@Krzzystuff nobody can get them at the moment. Fingers crossed they are back soon.
Re: Say Hello To The 'World’s First Xbox Controller With Hall Effect Sticks'
I might be interested in this depending on reviews.
My wireless controller is currently wired charging the battery pack so a wired controller isn't much of an issue for me.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 8-9)
I'm having another look at game pass GTA 5 after playing previously on PS4 a few years ago.
Forza as well, it's been my go to for as long as I've had my Xbox.
Re: Arcade Paradise Is Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (July 3)
Downloading as I write/tap.
Re: Pure Xbox Game Club July 2023: Perfect Dark
Might have another go with this game. Plenty of time spent in split screen mp but probably not for at least 20 years. Still have the original but not worth setting up time and mess.
Re: Review: Starfield Xbox Wireless Controller - Don't Sleep On This Special Edition Delight
From the first time I saw it I thought it looked fantastic but if I bought it it would have to stay in the box and I struggle to justify that.
Re: Pick One: What Was Your Favourite Xbox Game Pass Game In May?
Played lots of FIFA since launch so voted for Planet of Lana which I enjoyed playing through.
Given Cassette Beasts a go and it is basically Pokémon but I can't really get into that type of game now.
Re: Microsoft Rewards: How To Claim 2000 Bonus Points On Xbox In June 2023
Me too. Definitely easier to complete these without any achievement tasks.

Still playing regularly. Finished the rally expansion recently and take part in rivals challenges, although not quite as much as I did. Not bad for a game 18 months old.
Re: Microsoft Rewards Giving Away 100s Of Easy Points With New 'Edge' Browser Update
Definitely working nicely on my laptop. Did try on my Series S but that didn't like it at all and brought it to a complete standstill.
Re: How To Complete All Xbox Game Pass Quests In 2023
I played Descenders before so was halfway there. I actually enjoyed it far more than I remembered so it's getting downloaded as I write this.
Re: Here's What Might Be Leaving Xbox Game Pass In May 2023
Citizen Sleeper really shouldn't be missed out on if you haven't played it.
Re: Xbox Acknowledges Tracking Issues With April's Microsoft Rewards
Not tracking properly for me. 1/5 for the searches which is a couple short. I wonder what the mystery missing task is 🤔
