Anything that isn’t an old school arcade shooter or an old school rpg or platformer. I’d like something that is a game that I actually might have been interested buying and never got round to. Kinda like getting Hitman hitting Gamepass. That kind of thing would be nice. Maybe Far Cry 5 or some kinda of racing game.
Had a quick go on windjammers 2 and it could do with a proper tutorial mode to help you practice or work out how to do things without having to go back to the menu screen and scroll through a load of screens. Kinda put me off it a bit. Also played a bit of Mass Effect. Never connected with it much in the past but I quite enjoyed the first 45 mins or so. Better shooter than I remembered it being. Possibly because I’ve not played a lot of shooters lately.
Had a quick go on Tho Pedestrian and it seems interesting and requires a bit of thought. Also had a go on Gorogoa which is another interesting puzzler but has a lovely art style to it as well.
I’m a week into the game and it’s been strangely entrancing. It definitely won’t be for everyone but I’m looking forward to seeing how the story turns out. Is it just me or would it having a dark underbelly like a series of Fargo be amazing? Here’s hoping…..
Generally if people have a new console they want stuff to show off how great it is so by that token I’d say Forza Horizon 5 and Microsoft Flight Sim. I’d say that those two games probably give you the biggest wow factor whether you’re on Series S or X. Flight Sim might not be for everybody long term but nothing beats the feeling of dropping a plane over cities you visited in the past and looking for familiar landmarks to buzz. And of course flying over your house.
I can’t wait to play Sniper Elite 5. 3 &4 were both brilliant games and ones that I’ve played through again once I completed them because they were so much fun. In a tense kind of fun way.
Playing through Halo campaign and getting some Season 2 events done in FH5. Halo is delivering in single player for me and feels like a greatest hits package of the first 3 games. It feels like a return to form after Halo 5 left me a bit cold.
It’s kind of become a bit pointless. Any decent games seem to come to gamepass. It’d be nice to get some older but better games added to the GWG list or just do away with it all together.
There’s some pretty average games on that list however it has to be said that Halo , PGR2 and COD2 were proper classics at launch. It feels like for the current gen that Microsoft should have delayed launch of the console by a year. Can you imagine the buzz if they had launched the Series S/X with MSFS, Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 instead of The Medium. That would have been a legendary laugh line up.
The first three Gears were astounding to play. They looked so good but the cover mechanic was the work of genius. Often imitated but never bettered. Never got into the multiplayer (probably because I always got obliterated every time I tried ) but the single player campaigns were wonderfully cinematic with some great set pieces in them. Judgment was pretty poor though. It offered nothing new and was just a series of rooms all offering the same thing. I struggled to get into 4 for some reason, possibly all those bloody robots but I just recently had a go at 5 and actually really enjoyed it and finished it over a couple of days so it must have got me hooked.
I went for a Series S as I don’t have a 4K tv and could just go and pick one up straight from the shelf. Been very happy with it so far. Lovely little design and loving the faster loading times. Yes the internal drive is small but I’ve just got into the habit of downloading games overnight. A console that can play Flight Sim for only £250 is a proper bargain in my eyes. I’m sure that at some point in the future I’ll need a new TV and then I might consider a Series X and by then they’ll be easy to pick up.
PGR4 was an amazing game, had many an happy time racing Hayabusa bikes around the Hermitage. Gears was an amazing game too with the cover system being perfectly executed. COD:MW was a brilliant example of a Hollywood blockbuster in game form. I love how the game was a short blast that made you want to do it all again on the next difficulty. Modern games are so long and bloated that by the time you’ve done the bloated 45 hour repetitive campaign you don’t want to do it again. But my overall fave was Bioshock. For its brilliant art design and wonderful story. The atmosphere is created was amazingly immersive. 360 days were possibly the best of any generation.
Lots of shade thrown at this game made me a bit reluctant to try it but it was a no brainer coming on Gamepass. After playing through the Avengers Assemble story I have to say I quite enjoyed. There isn’t a lot of variety in the game but the same can be said of a lot of games. However it is good fun for a play through and looked and played well on Series S.

It’s kind of reassuring that I wasn’t imagining it was taking it’s sweet time when trying to access it.

A bit of Forza Horizon 5 and finish off Lake.

I’d love it if top spin 4 was available on BC and maybe Lollipop Chainsaw too.

The recent Suicide Squad films nod to Lollipop Chainsaw has made me want to play that game all over again.
