And yet, I still prefer playing on Xbox. I don’t give a stuff that Indy is heading to PS5, in fact I think it’s great for the devs that more people get to play their game.
I’m a gamer that loves playing games, and if there is indeed an Xbox, next-gen, I’ll almost certainly buy it, cos that’s how I prefer to game.
I’ve enjoyed most of the games that have released, since Xbox bought ZeniMax, but the highlight for me is still Quake coming to console. I wanted that to happen for a looooooong time and it didn’t disappoint!
@ralphdibny it’s free, just like all the other World Updates
I’m pretty sure there was a paid pack in the marketplace, which did indeed give us some decent POIs in London, and it was out before the first UK World Update. I guess it’s largely obsolete now, with the two UK and Ireland world updates, but I seem to remember it looking good enough when it was released.
I definitely play a lot more than I used to. I’ve always played games, but I largely stopped, when I was in my 20-30’s as I was going out way too much
Now I’m in my 50’s, I can usually fit in a couple of hours a day, sometimes more, sometimes less. It depends how work is, and what my family is up to / wants to do.
@Banjo- I did wonder if that might be the case, which is a shame. I did originally buy the DLC, before I got the Ultimate edition on sale, so if I get a code I’ll try to give it away. Won’t be gutted if I don’t though, just would have been cool.
Sounds like it’ll likely go on sale for plenty cheap beforehand anyway, so I can always just buy it for my family member easy enough.
Anybody know if these codes are transferable yet? I own the Ultimate edition, so won’t need it personally, but I’m hoping I can pass any code I do receive to a family member.
I absolutely love this game, it might even be my favourite of all time, certainly the best driving / racer I’ve played. The world is so immersive, particularly with the seasons mechanic, and I’ve spent countless hours just driving around, chilling. That beach area near Bamburgh Castle and the lighthouse, is a particular highlight for me.
I’ve no real problem with it being delisted, and can well understand issues with licensing, etc, though this of course means that newer generations will not be able to enjoy the game, in future. As I own the game on Xbox and Steam, I look forward to sinking many more hours into it. Brilliant stuff, and unmatched in its genre.
I don’t know. Either you think something is worth paying for, or you don’t. Nobody’s forcing anyone to shell out for something they don’t want to pay for, and if enough people feel strongly enough about not paying, then Bethesda will get the message. I don’t really have a problem with it, for the above reason.
I don’t expect to endlessly get new features or content for free, but if I don’t think it’s worth paying for then I won’t pay the extra for it.
Loved this game when it came out, and it improved massively across all the updates. It took a while to get it in proper shape, and I’m so glad the devs never gave up on it. Definitely worth a look, if you’ve never played it.
Some really interesting stories here, great stuff. I think what really got me into Xbox was the choice and fun to be had with Xbox Live Arcade - there were some great games and it all just worked. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved has a lot to answer for!
The path to Xbox was a long one though
I was primarily Sega / Nintendo in the 80/90’s until I started working, then sort of stopped playing games until I got a PS2. I then upgraded to PS3 when that came out, but didn’t really play much on it, eventually picking up a 360 for cheap, towards the end of its life. The snappy UI and ease with which I could use the marketplace to get games drew me in, and once I was there I didn’t really look back.
Eventually I got a One S and I loved it, started playing so many more games - upgraded to a One X and eventually a Series X in the pandemic and have barely touched the PS4 I picked up along the way. I’m such a big fan of the Forza Horizon games, Halo is wicked too, and the breadth of choice in Game Pass is fantastic.
After seeing the mess they made of optimising for the PC release, I wouldn’t be surprised if this eventually gets cancelled, for console. Either that, or it’ll be a rather stripped-down version that makes its way to console.
I think my I’d be much more interested in a Pro upgrade to Series X, in the same way I bought a One X, last gen. It would also need to come with more than 1TB storage too. I filled mine - plus the 1TB expansion - ages ago.
This just comes down to the old argument of higher fidelity graphics v frame rates. I tend to be happy with 30fps, if the fidelity of the graphics is worth it - and it often is, for me - so long as it’s a locked 30.
I always usually at least have a look at any ray tracing options, just to see if I think they’re worth it. Sometimes they are, but not always.
I don’t agree with the notion that devs shouldn’t bother pushing the envelope with trying to achieve high fidelity graphics though, especially when optimising for lower spec hardware. If previous generations of game development had stuck to that, we’d still be plodding around with wireframe models now!
Backwards compatibility, really interesting day one releases on Game Pass and still having the most comfortable game controller, for me. I love my Series X, and it’s still my favourite way to indulge in my favourite hobby.
I didn’t really have a problem with the car-upgrade system, as was, but it sure is nice to be able to just get to upgrading cars with the tweaked system. It’s great to have the choice and also to have something to spend my ever-accruing credits on!
Just gave the updated Nurburgring a go and had a blast in my now fully-upgraded old Golf GTI
Yeah, I saw the initial reviews on Steam the other day, so it seems to be just as rough across both platforms. That’s a shame, as the game seems to be full of potential.
Here’s hoping some updates can iron out the obvious bugs and performance issues, particularly the terrible sounding AI.
Really good game, especially since the update to allow a PvE mode. This takes the stress out of a relaxing time on the seas
I see a lot of doom-mongering on here, about the success of an Xbox game on a rival platform, being the death-knell for Xbox consoles. This isn’t necessarily so. Can’t we just enjoy the headline that a good Xbox game is probably going to do well on PlayStation?
The devs deserve it to, and I hope we do indeed see many more people on the seas, in years to come.
I’ve been dipping back in now and then. I honestly love how good the driving feels in this game, and I love how great it looks and sounds too. The extra tracks that’ve been added are all really fun to drive too, and I can’t wait to get started on the next, big one - I’ve not driven it, in a game in years!
I know it seems that most veteran Forza fans are incredibly disappointed with this new iteration, and I have to say, I just don’t get it. Perhaps expectations were way too high, maybe just play the game as an all-new racer and make of it, what it is. I’ve enjoyed the series since FM5, though maybe that doesn’t make me hardcore-enough a fan, to see all the apparent flaws in the new game? Who cares, I’m loving it.
It certainly is a complicated issue, and I would be very sad if this does, eventually, lead to the demise of Xbox console hardware.
I’ve got no real issue with Xbox Game Studios games eventually appearing on other platforms; I was just recently pondering Hi-Fi Rush doing this, and was glad that more people would discover how great a game it is. However, if this does indeed lead to Microsoft just concentrating on being a publisher and using Game Pass as its platform, then I think I’d probably be better off investing in a decent gaming PC.
Though I’ve thought about buying a PS5, in the future, I would very much miss having an Xbox as my main console, if that’s how it goes - and that’s where it feels like it is going.
This is now a game I’ll play and come back to, now and then. I always enjoyed playing it as a chill time, taking out skellies and finding treasure, just riding the seas. Then you’d find yourself being ambushed by a 4 player team and lose everything - once that happened enough times, I just stopped playing.
With Safer Seas, I can just play the game as single player, or with a friend, and just enjoy the content. Happy days.
Some interesting takes here; my personal opinion is that FM looks as amazing as I wanted it to, and whilst that might not be quite as impressive as GT7, on PS5, it still looks fantastic to me.
However, looks aren’t everything. I definitely appreciate the amount of depth of gameplay that GT7 has; I own it on PS4, so have enjoyed seeing what it has to offer. Yet, I still find myself enjoying races more on FM. It just drives better, for me, and I just have more fun with it. Yes, there’s much more to do in GT7, but it just feels a little boring and (as others have said) soulless.
Forza Motorsport is much more straight forward and direct into the action, and that suits me down to the ground. It also just feels and plays better, for me.
Having said that, if I should end up with a PS5 in the future, I also look forward to giving GT7 another go, to really appreciate the finer points of what this article is all about, but for now, I’m over the moon with what Turn 10 have given us, with Forza Motorsport.

Re: Talking Point: Have Xbox Series X|S Dynamic Backgrounds Lived Up To The Hype?
I kinda like ‘em, but would appreciate the option to buy more customised backgrounds too / or maybe a way to make our own. Now that would be cool.
