I'm wondering if it forces Xbox to make an official announcement on the next system sooner than they would like. Not every detail but maybe a teaser trailer at the Game Awards with the name, release window and verify some of the rumored features, such as multiple store fronts
@Leuke I dropped PS+ earlier this year after having it since the PS3 days. Don't miss it. Trying to decide if I want premium or essential for GamePass. Ultimate is insane
I really enjoyed it, especially the 4 player festival part. This beta was better than the last. I like the level of kart customization too. I'm definitely not buying at launch. Too expensive. Luckily Sonic games tend to drop in price about as fast the blue Blur himself. I'll probably pick it up on sale around the holidays.
@BAMozzy Agreed. I took quite a long time to get into the Horizon series because the Festival aspect of the game drove me nuts. I picked up 4 on Steam right before it was delisted and have been enjoying on mute. I do wish it was more Arcade like. Go the Burnout Paradise route. More insane jumps, wreckage, insane races. Don't worry about story, ditch the Festival. Go for the adrenaline rush make it pure fun. Make it a new spin off if needed, the Horizon formula can return for fans.
@JimmyRowe1994 I agree that some sort of number designation would be better than something like Prime, which could be assumed to be associated or confused with Amazon or th3 energy drink. 7 sounds fine and would directly compete with Sony as you're saying. Heck, even going the Windows route and slapping the release year on it seems like a better method than random names. Xbox '26 or whatever year it releases
@shoeses I was impressed that they did leave that during the break. I do hope they treat as a normal delisted game where you can still play it locally, because I do like the game. Hopefully it doesn't get removed like Concord on the PS5
@abe_hikura After shutting down for a year, can't really blame anyone for not spending money on it. Who knows when they'll shut it for good after this news. I agree with you. I'd rather have it like Nickelodeon Allstar Brawl where I can purchase the game outright. Sure, online would eventually get shut down and the game delisted, but I'd feel better knowing that I had the chance to play locally
@Rafie I'm shocked Geoff Keighley didn't beg Microsoft to wait until next month so that he could bring Kojima out during The Game Awards and shadow drop it then!!
Umm. It was announced in late August the Indiana Jones was coming to the PS5. It hasn't even been 2 months. That's considered slowing down? Besides, it would make sense to slowly announce their titles they want to port to build up hype if they're going to do it.
I think it was a solid presentation. Unfortunately, we seem to be stuck in that part of the console generation where developers are playing it safe with a lot of souls or Zelda style games.
Well, actually a better review than I originally anticipated. I was never planning on picking it up at full price in order to play with the family. Being a GameMill title, it should get discounted fairly quickly, especially around the holidays in a couple of months.
@UBERSICKO At least in the traditional sense. If the rumors are true, (and I really hope that they are) it sounds like they may be going towards a console friendly, windows based gaming PC route. It still plays Xbox games, but you can also log into other store fronts as well, such as Steam, GOG, Ubisoft, EA, etc. If that's the case, games not coming to the Xbox store wouldn't be as big of a problem as it is now. Fingers crossed
@Mustoe For a while I figured they were going to start treating their console and GamePass like they do with Windows and their Surface line. Would they prefer that you buy a Surface to use Windows? Of course!! But as long as you're using Windows on any other device, that's their top priority. Seems to be the way they're shifting with Xbox. Absolutely they would prefer that you bought a console from them. But if you would prefer to use GamePass on PC, an Amazon Firestick or a Samsung TV, that's OK too.
@Mustoe I agree. If the rumors are true with Xbox putting a Steam app on their next system, I wonder if it will be a stripped down, Windows based system, making it look more like a traditional console but allowing other storefronts along with Xbox. and GamePass. They can make it similar the Steam Deck set up where they have "Xbox/Console OS" but also allow the option to switch over to a traditional desktop mode as well.
It's weird how many games are on Switch and Playstation, but not on Xbox. I love my Xbox but there's so many quirks to how the overall ecosystem is ran. The weekly sales pale in comparison to the other systems as well. And why doesn't Microsoft allow 3rd party wireless controllers? For all the great things they do with GamePass, backwards compatibility and all the new games on the horizon, it's things as I mentioned before that make you wonder why things are treated so differently with Xbox in comparison.
@GeeForce It is disappointing when compared to Steam. There's legacy bundles there that offer a 50% discount for FX3 tand FX tables. You can get them really cheap during sales and if you already own the FX3 tables. I wish they had this option available across all systems. Of course free upgrades from FX3 to FX would have been best but at least it's better than nothing on Steam
@Sifi My point is not the amount, it's Sony already has an established portfolio of single player focused games and studios with Naughty Dog, Guerrilla Games, Insomniac, Sucker Punch and Santa Monica Studios. Microsoft has stated in the past that they want that too but then they just shut down Tango with Evil Within 1 & 2, Hi Fi Rush, and Ghostwire: Tokyo. Sure, Redfall stunk up the joint, but Arkane Lyon also made Deathloop, Prey and Dishonored too. These games may not have been top sellers but they are very well made and have a their own fan bases. Maybe these games wouldn't get sequels but these studios could have made new single player IPs. What are the expectations for 'Indiana Jones and the Great Circle', 'Avowed' and Hellblade 2? If they're not runaway hits, what happens to these studios? Don't get me wrong. Sony's just as guilty shutting down Japan Studio, Liverpool, Evolution, Zipper or Incognito. Heck, a game like Days Gone had decent enough sales for a new IP but Sony wouldn't allow Bend Studios to make a sequel since it didn't hit their Metacritic quota.
"we can invest more deeply in our portfolio of games and new IP" Umm. New IPs are released, they don't meet whatever unrealistic internal numbers are set by Microsoft and the studios are then shut down.
I don't understand Microsoft at all. They say they want to compete with Sony's portfolio of single player, story driven games, but then they shut down Tango Gameworks, one of their only studios that released some of their better single player focused games. It doesn't make any sense. If I was MachineGames, I would be sweating bullets over the upcoming release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
I think the thing that drives me nuts the most on Xbox is the lack of sales on their store compared to the other systems. I prefer buying games on my Xbox but so many of the games i have on my wishlist on Deku Deals hardly, (if at all) go on sale for Xbox compared to Sony, Nintendo or even Steam. Unless it's Rockstar, Capcom, Ubisoft or Activision, games don't go on sale as often as other platforms.
I really do enjoy streaming my Xbox games through my Steam Deck through Greenlight. While it works fine, I do wish that an official app was available as well. Has anyone tried XBPlay? I wondered how it compares to Greenlight?
@Altaria_97 Brings me a bit of hope that the team behind Hot Unleashed is making it. Also, while i saw a few cars scattered threw the arena, I wonder if there will be a section of them line up in a row after a ramp to jump off and crush?
@MrN0vmbr The dead platform is a reason for my concern as well. I mentioned above about MS treating the console itself like their Surface. I'm hoping it's more like that and not the Windows phone. I'm wondering if Phil and Microsoft want to make Xbox more like Steam and Valve.
I've been saying for years that Microsoft has moving towards treating the console like their Surface products and their games & GamePass like Windows. Would they prefer you to purchase a Surface product to use Windows? Of course! But as long your using Windows is their priority. It seems to be the direction their heading with their consoles. They'd prefer that you buy a Xbox to play their games. But as long as you're using GamePass somewhere, that number is important too. Plus, since many Xbox players don't purchase 1st party games because they're available on GamePass, why not pick up additional sales to offset development costs by releasing them on multiple platforms.
I would just like to log on and play. I had one good day of playing but the first day and again yesterday I kept on getting "multiplayer is currently unavailable. Please try again later" is anyone else having this problem? I keep resetting the game and even the console itself, but the problem persists. Online works for other games. Thanks.
