My game of the year. It was only half the price of a AAA game and it was worth EVERY single penny.
As gamers, we only have ourselves to blame if Ubisoft sticks to the same tired old formula. When they do try something new and it turns out great, no one buys it!
The amount of people I have seen that didn't buy this because;
too expensive
its a 2d side scroller
its cartoony
I honestly don't understand gamers some time. They just don't recognise great games half the time.
Its a big unfair to state that Rare's output has been Rare.
They continue to support their highly successful live service game Sea of Thieves. There has been plentiful content releases for this. I assume SOT keeps them very busy with not much time to spend elsewhere.
The best trilogy of all time IMO. I wish I could erase my memory of playing it and go in afresh all again.
If its not already too late, Female Sheppard is MUCH better than Male Sheppard. Jennifer Hale does an absolutely amazing job and is on another level to the male version. I usually pick male characters in games but for Mass Effect I go Jennifer Hale EVERY TIME. Some scenes can be quite transformative just because of how Jennifer delivers the lines, its night and day difference.
"Negative rumours for a game or console are extremely damaging for any brand and those who spread them are an absolute disgrace."
I completely agree with you.
I would also say that the media who report on these rumors as if they are fact are also a disgrace. They create so much negative publicity, it can become difficult for MS to turn the tides of public discourse when so much false info is being circulated around.
Thomas from Digital Foundry has already tweeted that the performance and Quality modes dont seem to do anything on Xbox and are broken.
Not sure if he jumped the gun or if this is actually true. I certainly cant notice any difference when I toggle the switch, both modes currently run at 60fps.
Sounds like a bare minimum update really. It's a shame they weren't planning to give it a major upgrade with improved textures, lighting etc. But this is Bethesda, we should be thankful for anything really. And of course its free, so cannot complain.
I'm quite happy to be honest. I was becoming a slave of it all, chasing every point that I could. Now I can just ignore it all and relax, spend some more time actually playing games.
"I'm fine with that. A lot of times it's for creative reasons. Plague Tale was the same and remains one of the best looking games of the gen imo. I'm sure the game will be epic either way."
Except that A Plague Tale: Requiem received a 60fps patch and it still looks beautiful, it is no longer constrained to 30fps.
It's simple for me. I will NOT be buying this if it's only 30fps.
Well after completing it, I cannot help but feel this game is very over-rated and has some major flaws which are over-looked by the gaming press as a whole.
There are moments of genius in the game, but there are also moments that are so dull and poorly designed.
I generally hated the Mind Place. Just randomly placing pictures on a board was thoroughly boring and just dragged on in places, especially right at the end. Why a mechanic such as this was used as much as it is I have no idea. Its not fun.
The game is also really poor at signposting what to do or where to go next. I got to a bit near the end which just said "come up with a plan". Like, how the ***** would I do this then? No clue whatsoever where to go or what to do. I had to google it so I didn't waste the next 2 hours of my life. Turns out I was missing a document, but it would of taken me ages to retrace my steps if I hadn't read a guide.
Very poor pacing as well. I can understand why some would call this a walking simulator. Remedy are clearly very talented people, I just wish they made their games more fun to play.
The actual gunplay (when you get to it) also isn't that great and feels a big step backwards from Control. It's slow and clunky to the point it was frustrating at times.
Voice acting was hit and miss as well. Saga in particular was dreadful, hardly any emotion when delivering her lines.
The jump scares are over-used and they are of the cheapest kind, just constantly throwing up an image on screen accompanied by a loud noise.
I have completed Dead Space twice this year and plan on a 3rd run. RE4 I have completed twice. I don't expect I will replay Alan Wake 2, at least not for a long time. I just cannot bring myself to get through the tedious, drawn out sections again.
Very over-rated. Is a 7/10 game at best. I think the gaming press gets carried away sometimes when they see nice visuals and forgets that gameplay is king. Now that the dust has settled, I see a lot of people on forums expressing the same thoughts as what I had.
I get a lot of time to play games, but I have never had such a huge backlog as I have now. 2023 has been absolutely stellar so far and we have a few great months left to go.
It all kicked off in January with Dead Space and hasn't let up since. It's very wise that publishers are looking to delay their games to release them during less busy times.
Yet to me, Dead Space if my fav game of 2023. It is very much a remake in every way possible. Calling it a remaster is just ill-informed and wrong on your part.
I think your idea of a Remake is slightly skewed. FFVII is less of a remake to me and more of a re-imagining as it's nothing like the original.
Yeah I like this too. The store also doesn't take up a space now in the recent apps. The only thing non-gaming related taking up space there now is the Rewards app and internet browser.
100% Agree with you there. In that opening section, the fps hovers around 60fps and everything is quite smooth. However, if he bothered to test just 5-10 mins further in, he would realise the frame-rate gets very erratic still. There really isn't much improvement in the latest patch and that video (and this article) is very misleading.

Re: Here's 10 Minutes Of New Gameplay From Ubisoft's Open World Star Wars Outlaws
Miles and miles of empty desert. Brace yourself for 80% of traversing the map, 20% of actual gameplay.
God open world games are so boring nowadays. An artificial attempt to extend the playtime of a game at the detriment of the user experience.

£79.99 for a lifetime membership is actually quite tempting.
Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Update Now Live On Xbox, Featuring Huge Item Storage Increase
No mention of a fix for the broken checkerboard upscaling which makes the game look like a blurry mess?
That's disappointing.

I think DF also said that Neon was mostly locked 60fps.
Re: Starfield's Game-Changing Update Is Now Live On Xbox, Full Patch Notes Revealed
@BRT15
Digital Foundry have shown that the framerate can be much lower in New Atlantis and also Akila city.
However, the rest of the game manages to mostly hold its 60fps target which is great.

The Expanse is a great TV show and I'm looking forward to getting back into its world. This game has always shown promise.
I will wait until all episodes have been released however until I jump in so I can binge play it.
