Dying Light: The Following bundle because I fancied some zombie action. Didn't realise how much the parkour element adds to the experience. Liking it so far.
Also picked up Cyberpunk 2077, Biomutant and The Purge 2 via Amazon/eBay. Something for a rainy day.
Played it last night (SXS via cloud) and don't recall seeing any real performance issues with frame rate, visuals etc. Would like it to be smoother so I'll tweak the settings next time to check for improvements. Not sure about the combat - feels clunky or maybe a bit spammy.
Visually impressive, but not up to the quality of some high end PC walkthroughs I've seen.
Story is intriguing but not grabbing me. But overall I'm king of enjoying it. Probably something I'll play for a few more hours then be done with it.
I cannot understand the love for VS. Played it tonight to see what the hype was about and thought it was awful. Looked and played like something that might have been released on the Atari ST or Amiga. How on earth it won this award I do not know.
Bit of Wo Long and a bit of Fenyx Rising. Also trying to like Dead Cells but returning to the beginning after every death is becoming quite monotonous.
After all the hype around RE4 Remake, I've decided to buy RE Village whilst it's only £16. Might get the former having been a big fan of the original on Wii about 15 years ago. For now though, I'm hoping the more hack n slash style of RE Village is an improvement on RE 7 which felt a bit too slow and confined IMO.
Gave Tunic a go during the week and couldn't see why so many people raved over it.
After finally defeating the first boss last week, I managed to squeeze in a session on Fri night and complete Valley of the Crying Wraiths.
Still undecided on how high to rate it. Some great environments and some decent enemies, but it's quite jerky at times. Going to continue with it for a while though.
@Kaloudz I've watched every YT video I can find and tried every tactic, eg pole arms, sabres, wooden cudgel, double blades, max armour, robes, pants, block, deflect, block + deflect. I just can't time the deflection on red attacks more than once per battle, therefore I can land only one fatal strike.
I've seen so many players somehow deflect red attacks so they kind of jump sideways out of the way, but I've only achieved that literally twice in maybe 50 battles! Insane. And I've completed 75% of Dark Souls 3 so I just don't get why I can't time it.
And I've farmed myself to something like Level 13 and even upped my morale to 25!
@Pepa27 I can’t defeat the boss’ second phase either. Spent way too many hours on it. Even got my morale up to 25, eg hard enough to one shot the big rat thing but still can’t time the deflections enough to beat Zhang. Keep wanting to give up, then try another tactic but it’s not working.
I quit the demo after being unable to defeat the Xiang in his second phase. Really frustrating. And I say that as someone who's completed 75% of DS3.
Installed the full game this morning and tried defeating him a few more times to no avail. Really need to master deflecting because that seems the only way to get his HP down.
Seems insane that the devs made this first boss so dang hard.
Will persevere because it looks like a decent hack n slash. Not as immersive as DS3 (or ER) but good in its own right.
So on Saturday I started really getting into this, but having spent hours failing to get past the 2nd phase of Zhang Jiang, I'm about to give up. Really wanted to continue liking it, but I've had enough now. I'll probably give it a go on GP on launch.
Started playing the second demo yesterday. Didn't like it. Combat overly fast and too much button mashing. Couldn't defeat the rat thing (hidden behind the fire) nor the boss dude before the giant boss.
Felt very detached, unlike the classic combat of Souls Borne games.
Decided to start again from the beginning and realised I wasn't levelling up at the flag points. Found a set of dual blades and starting thinking about my attacks. Got into it more and more. Took down the rat, then the mini boss and can nearly kill the giant. Feel more involved now. Mechanics are still a quite jittery, but I'm now looking from the GamePass release.
I ignored all the Soulsborne hype for years without really knowing why. Then a few months ago I dipped into Bloodborne and DS3 and couldn't put them down - 30hrs on the former and 65hrs on the latter. They're so visceral, and even though they're damn hard, the whole experience, especially the combat, is so satisfying.
ER is on my watchlist but I'm taking a break from the above to mess around with High of Life and God of War (PS).
Picked up RDR2 for £15 new and some random ones like Ride 4, Squadrons and a few more. Just started parking a load onto a Samsung T7 for a rainy day.
Yes, the text is too small and should have been resolved before launch. However, the game itself is a whole lot of fun. Sure, the map is a pain to work out, but calling a cab gets around that. Combat is excellent - some shoot outs and bosses really get you thinking.
Could do with more varied enemies as that part is getting a little repetitive now.

Re: The Ascent Players Are Raising Concerns Over The Game’s Text Size
@VenomousAlbino Hence I agreed that the text size should have been sorted before launch.
