Re: Xbox Series X|S Ranked 5th In List Of Platforms Developers Are Most Interested In

@Weebleman About the profit, I think it's a non issue. Hardware will be more expensive and profitable. (people were talking about subsidies but Nintendo always sold consoles at profit)
And software will be sold across all platforms.

See, Microsoft Store is smaller than Steam on PC, but Xbox First Party have great franchises such as Call of Duty who sells millions everywhere, don't matter where you buy, it's profit. So Microsoft can easily offset the losses of their multi-store strategy with their multiplatform strategy.

@Weebleman "If Xbox can run PC games why bother with the Xbox version"

Yes, but that's exactly the point. Devs don't have to bother with Xbox as the console will automatically have access to all games released for PC.

Just do the PC version, Xbox will play it greatly, Same OS. And if we consider exchanging 20% for 80% of developers Xbox would have a greater input of games coming from PC devs.

@Weebleman "closed eco system to develop for without multiple hardware options that can be upgraded by simply buying a new graphics card"

Sure, but developers already have to do it anyway, even with consoles. They have to scale from PS5 to PS5 Pro, adapt for Xbox Series S weaker console and Series X, they sometimes have to optimize for last-generation and some of them even make it run on Switch.

Games like fortnite also have mobile versions for a multitude of Android/iOS devices.

So developers are already making multiple versions of their games for multiple hardware in the console space, that's nothing new.

@Millionski

1) That's not a requirement, but still Xbox Ally runs a stripped down Windows 11 version, not full Windows. (Xbox One / XSX OS is based on Windows Kernel BTW)

2) Microsoft's Xbox won't be low price, but other manufacturers will exist to foster competition and lower entry-points.

3) That can be guaranteed simply by defining a 'minimum hardware requirement' to be certified as an Xbox. So OEMs won't do as they please, they will have rules to follow. If Switch 2 can run Cyberpunk I'm pretty sure MS can get around that.

4) Dualsense features such as the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers do actually work just fine on PC (just like on PS5). - source: https://wccftech.com/new-spider-man-remastered-and-miles-morales-pc-update/ as for quick resume it can be easily implemented by Microsoft, it is an amazing feature and is not that hard to implement.

5) Xbox is running without full exclusives since 2016 with the Xbox Play Anywhere program. PS5 exclusives are never in the top sales of the year. FIFA, COD (BF6 this year) and GTA always dominate sales. Source: https://blog.playstation.com/2026/01/14/playstation-stores-top-downloads-of-2025/

I don't care what Satya says, he doesn't know an inch about gaming.

I'm just trying to understand the criteria, because to me it is just sounding like a 'it is not an xbox because it runs windows OS' kinda of thing.

Re: Xbox Series X|S Ranked 5th In List Of Platforms Developers Are Most Interested In

@Millionski Sure, you can replicate the experience on your own PC if you have one, and so can other OEM.

Just look at Windows Market. Microsoft has Surface, but that don't stop HP, Samsung, Dell and others of making Windows PCs.

That's what is going to happen with Xbox. There will be multiple manufactures of Xbox (most likely a minum hardware requirement for certification) at multiple price points.

Microsoft own Xbox will be pricey, but you can always get a samsung Xbox, HP Xbox, and so on.

Now, from the users POV, console players don't want to build their machine, they want to get it done, plug on the TV and play. They don't want the hassle of choosing a video card, find a matching CPU to avoid bottleneck and look for the precise power supply to hold it all up, it is too much of a work that console players don't want. So they can just go out, buy the ready to use Xbox PC, plug & play.

Re: Halo Studios Admits That The Series Needs A Bigger Playerbase As PS5 Community Awaits

Are people really thinking PlayStation isn't going the same route Xbox is going? Just look at the sales numbers.

People compare PS sales vs Xbox sales, but forget to compare last gen PS sales with current gen PS sales and they are about the same. Know what that means? They didn't grew. Which also means their games sales didn't grow either (Forza Horizon 5 sold more in europe than Ghost of Yotei)

If PlayStation wants to grow their games sales, they will have to bring games to Xbox, that's the only place they can go as they are already on PC.

Sony is willing to do it, they release lego Horizon on Switch and Helldivers 2 on Xbox. Marathon, from Bungie, is also coming to Xbox.

For now, only multiplayer games, but soon we will see single-player titles coming to Xbox too.

So at next-gen people won't change Xbox for PlayStation, because PlayStation will be doing exactly the same thing, premium console and multiplatform strategy.

Re: Here's What's Included In The Xbox January 2026 Update

eduscxbox

Despite not having any console updates, I don't think this means they moving away from console space. What I think is that all those Xbox PC updates will be inherited by Xbox Next Console, as it is rumores to run Windows 11 with an Xbox layer on top, just like Xbox Ally. If it is true, makes total sense they focus on Xbox PC experience, since this will be powering Next-gen hardware.

Re: Xbox & Activision Issue Statement On The Future Of Call Of Duty Following Black Ops 7 Backlash

@Balaam_ If developers release only what people expect always, there would never be innovation.

God of war 2018 wasn't what people expected, it was a hack and slash before, still it did great and was praised.

I'm not comparing God of War to BO7, just saying that's the reason why a developer would do something different than they know the public expects, to try surprise and innovate with their public.

Re: Microsoft's 'This Is An Xbox' Ad Evolves As Holiday Marketing Ramps Up

eduscxbox

@Stocksy Your comment makes no sense at all. So what you own every generation of Xbox? And who said questioning Xbox is a crime or bias?

And i'm not twisting your 'logic' as what you're say has no such a thing as logic.

You use the same argument to say PS Portal isn't a PS because name says everything, but at the same time, the different name (Xbox Ally) means nothing, this is bias, not questioning.

What kind of logic is that?

Re: Microsoft's 'This Is An Xbox' Ad Evolves As Holiday Marketing Ramps Up

eduscxbox

@Stocksy A PlayStation Portal can't run PS5 Games.
A PS5 can't run all PS games.
A Switch 2 can't run all Switch games
So why an Xbox Series X should be required to run all Xbox Games?

"The steam deck arguement is stupid." because you said so? because it breaks your narrative?

And why Xbox Ally (See?! different product name) must run Xbox Series X games?

I just can't understand the bias.

Re: Microsoft Passes The Buck To Asus For ROG Xbox Ally's Price Tag

eduscxbox

@PsBoxSwitchOwner Yes, and it does play Xbox games. They never said it plays Xbox Series games natively, they said it runs Xbox games, and it does, through cloud gaming.

But this does not matter, comparison still stand. Backwards compatibility is a great feature, but it is not a requirement to define the device as an Xbox.

Xbox One is a console
Xbox Series is a different console
Xbox Ally is a handheld console. It is different. It is not an extension of Series X, it is a next-gen Xbox handheld console.

Re: Microsoft Passes The Buck To Asus For ROG Xbox Ally's Price Tag

eduscxbox

@GeeEssEff @Balie3000 Why the games you buy on Xbox Series X have to be playable on Xbox Ally for it to be an Xbox?

Can you put a PS2 disc on a PS5 and play the game? Is PS5 still a PlayStation console?

There it is your answer. Xbox Ally plays Xbox Ally games. It is a new Xbox console, not an extension of Xbox Series.

Re: Talking Point: Which Xbox Game Will Move To PS5 Next?

eduscxbox

I don't know about Halo. Halo Studios is working on the new project and Master Chief Collection was made on the old proprietary engine that only 343 people know how to operate, so they can't second-party Halo either.

I think Halo will come to PS5 eventually, but it will be the new Halo Studios game.

Re: Xbox Series X|S Sales Now Trailing Almost 20% Behind Xbox One In The US

eduscxbox

Does it really matter?

Xbox hardware doesn't have to sell more than PlayStation.
Xbox hardware doesn't need to sell more than the previous generation.

All it have to do is give a profit directly or indirectly (Games, Game Pass Subscriptions) to Microsoft.

That's all it needs to do to Microsoft keep making Xbox console for years ahead.

Ps.: As of April 2022 Xbox Game Pass had 21 million subscribers on Xbox consoles.

Re: Xbox Reporter 'Pretty Sure' New Console Is Set To Launch In 2027

eduscxbox

@Millionski "Now why MS want to sell xbox-pc hybrid that runs steam with free online and cheaper games at a subsidized cost"

That's not what I said.

Microsoft will keep launching Xbox the same way they always did, with their proprietary Xbox OS.

Microsoft will also allow Xbox OS to run inside the Windows PC (regular PCs, no need to built one for it as long as it has some minimum specs, like it is to run a game)

"PC gaming isn't Microsoft, it is Steam". Right, and still Valve launched a handheld console into the market.

Microsoft can do the same, bring the console into the PC.

Re: Xbox Reporter 'Pretty Sure' New Console Is Set To Launch In 2027

eduscxbox

@Millionski I think making the PC into an Xbox is a better approach.

What I mean by that is bringing Xbox OS to PC or any other cable hardware (with minum specs defined).

This would be in line with the 'This is an Xbox' marketing and would make sense as Cloud Gaming uses Xbox OS just as the consoles.

The only hardware the doesn't have Xbox OS on the ecosystem is the PC.

So bring Xbox OS to Windows through the same subsystem technology they used to run Linux inside Windows (WSL).

Xbox OS would allow every Xbox game to run on PCs, including Backward compatible titles.

It would also allow for the future Xbox handheld to carry the users library from the home console.

This would make Xbox hadrware themselves more relevant, as developing for PC, handheld, cloud means developing for Xbox hardware (home console).
