Re: Talking Point: Does Microsoft Have A '30FPS' Problem With Its Xbox Series X|S Output?

eduscxbox

@Ralizah 'mansplain?!' Lol. I'll ignore that.

TOTK runs at 720p. Avowed at 4K.
How is that even comparable?
How is that not using Xbox power?

"Starfield has lots of loading screen".

Zelda BOTW and TOTK has lots of pop in all the time, you can see enemies appearing out of nothing, don't know how that is seamless, that doesn't make it a bad game tho, and as I've said before, 30fps is just fine for Zelda, Starfield or Avowed.

What you're doing is trying to find ways to keep using your double standards.

Re: Talking Point: Does Microsoft Have A '30FPS' Problem With Its Xbox Series X|S Output?

eduscxbox

@Ralizah

In a hypothetical situation, I'm pretty sure Zelda BOTW could run flawlessly on Xbox hardware at 4K @ 60fps.
Avowed, on the other hand, would not be able to run on Switch.

You see, the reason for that is that Xbox games uses a way more modern technolgies for graphics, lighting, shadows, post-processing and so on.

People are reducing everything to 'frames per second' as if it is the only measurment of a console's power. But it is not.

Comparing those two games by their framerate disregarding the whole graphics technology level between them is not context.

"Tears of the Kingdom has a seamless open world and tons of complex physics systems running all the time and is running on, let's face it, hardware that would have been considered weak a decade ago."

So is Starfield (in a way bigger scale) , but I haven't seem the same standards being applied there, and I don't even go into the update 60fps patch because it lowers quality to do so, but still.

Power is not the problem. Problem is people concept of power is reduced to frames per second.

Re: Talking Point: Does Microsoft Have A '30FPS' Problem With Its Xbox Series X|S Output?

eduscxbox

@IOI This has nothing to do with bragging, Xbox IS the most powerful console.

The point here is not power, but optimization.

FPS is not the only metric of a hardware power. There is performance, sure, but also graphics, effects, post-processing and so on.

What people are saying is that if it runs at 30fps it is not the most powerful while disregarding all other technological features of the game, as if FPS was the sole measure of power. It is not.

Re: Obsidian Confirms That Avowed Runs At 30FPS On Xbox Series X|S

eduscxbox

@Scirius You're not getting the point. It doesn't matter if it is handheld or home console.
Optimization means to fit the game on the available hardware.

For example, they could lower graphics further, they could lower resolution even more or whatever else to make BOTW reach 60fps, but that would sacrifice the game experience, so they decided to go with 30fps for a more pleasant experience.

It is the same thing for every hardware.

Re: Obsidian Confirms That Avowed Runs At 30FPS On Xbox Series X|S

eduscxbox

@Scirius "Switch is a handheld". But according to some people in the comment section the first-party studio must use the best of the hardware, so in those people logic, Nintendo should optimize with the switch limitations in mind.

That's not my personal opinion, just going by the logic of some comments. The standard has to be the same.

For me Zelda BOTW was a great game, put more than 200 hours on it and so was Starfield that I also have more than 200 hours. But games should be judged by the same standards.

Re: Obsidian Confirms That Avowed Runs At 30FPS On Xbox Series X|S

eduscxbox

I just found funny how first-party studios from other companies as well as some third-party studios get a pass when it comes to optimization.

Zelda BOTW = 30fps (drops to 25) no complaints (Excuse: Switch is portable; but according to some comments aren't first party games suposed to be optimized for the console?).

FF16 = 30fps (with a messy 60fps performance mode with a ton of frame drops) also no complaints because, y'know, it was a PS exclusive.

Now Starfield at 30fps was a Problem because first-party xbox studio can't optimize.
Avowed at 30fps is a Problem because first-party xbox this and that.

Re: Obsidian Confirms That Avowed Runs At 30FPS On Xbox Series X|S

eduscxbox

It is funny how people talk about 30fps as if it is unplayable.

30fps is fine for games like Hellblade 2, Avowed and even Starfield. 60fps is a good addition, but 30fps it is far from being unplayable.

People complain for the sake of it.

It would be a problem if games like Gears of War E-Day released at 30fps, but I'm pretty sure it will be 60fps.

Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Comments On Indiana Jones PS5, And Microsoft's Plan Moving Forward

eduscxbox

I think Phil was pretty clear right now that there are no limits to what Xbox will release on PlayStation.

This is a bad decision that will result in more developers abandoning Xbox as if we don't have enough this already.

I'll jump to PlayStation that's the only platform users seems to never worry if a game will be released onto, even if the game comes from Xbox Game Studios.

Re: Xbox Studios 'Player Numbers' Graphic Provides Interesting Look At Microsoft's Most-Played Franchises

eduscxbox

@Titntin Sure, 14 million players is a bad number. By your logic BTS is also no a famous band as not everyone on spotify listen to them. Avengers was a bad movie because not everyone on the planet watched.

What kind of logic is that?! Not everyone played because not everyone likes rpg or space-themed games.

But I don't think logic can work with someone who just want to hate on the game.

It's amazing how some people can twist 14 million players into something negative for the sake of hate.

Re: Talking Point: What Convinced You To Pick Xbox In The First Place?

eduscxbox

I was a Microsoft fan before being an Xbox fan. So I bought Xbox 360 because I wanted a console and it was made by Microsoft.

I've bought mostly to play third-party titles as I was first a Nintendo Player and third-party wasn't available on Wii / Wii U.

Just later I started paying attention to Xbox first-party, fell in love with Gears of War and them started playing all their first-party titles.

Now I play on Xbox not just because I am a Microsoft fan, but because I love their IPs.

Also, Xbox became my main platform to play(currently through Xbox PC App tho) , with Nintendo Switch coming second.

Re: Xbox Mobile Store Launches This July With Its Own 'First Party Portfolio'

eduscxbox

@NEStalgia They kinda did with surface duo.

And by all means, Android is open source, so Microsoft can modify it at will. And if they expand the store more to have apps too they can get rid of google entirely and have a 100% Microsoft-custom Android device.

Since it would be android it wouldn't be difficult for Microsoft to get developers onboard.

Re: Xbox Mobile Store Launches This July With Its Own 'First Party Portfolio'

eduscxbox

@NEStalgia Don't know if Microsoft will do that, but there is a fairly easy way to make people go there: Exclusive titles.

A new mobile Call of Duty game - only on Microsoft Store.
Problem solved.

But what I think is that this is only the first step. The next step will be Microsoft own Android Phone (not Surface Duo, a regular consumer-oriented Phone) and the phone will have that store and will be integrated with Xbox.

Re: Xbox Is Reportedly 'Considering' Hellblade 2 For PlayStation 5

eduscxbox

Are they stupid?

They just did that, got criticism from the community and ended up closing the studio anyway. So why bother releasing games on PlayStation?

Just end Xbox division and become like Sega if they're so eager to become a multiplatform publisher.

Is hard to keep being positive towards Xbox when they're keep bringing negative news.

I usually don't believe in rumors, but recently rumors have been more trustworthy than Phil Spencer's words.

Re: Starfield Is Getting A 60FPS Performance Mode On Xbox Series X

eduscxbox

@Markatron84 That's what happen when you just read the title:

Let's see what he says after that:
"Fortunately in this one, we've got it running great. It's often running way above that. Sometimes it's 60. But on the consoles, we do lock it because we prefer the consistency, where you're not even thinking about it"

That clearly says Xbox Series X managed to run at 60fps from the get go, but it wasn't stable, so they prefer the consistency. But sure, keep reading the title and not the article.

By the way, the Xbox community seems to be really unique. The only community on the planet who complains and criticize a company for releasing a 60fps patch.

Way to go!

Re: Starfield Is Getting A 60FPS Performance Mode On Xbox Series X

eduscxbox

@shoeses Funny because they never said that, that's all on you. Todd Howard said november last year that Starfield could run at 60fps on Series X, but wasn't stable, so they decided to stick to 30fps instead.

Now, of course, they managed to optimize it further and of course, FSR3 is available on consoles with has a feature that double framerate.

But sure, let's keep going like game development is easy and Bethesda just lied for the sake of it.

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Pick 'Quality' Over 'Performance' Modes On Xbox Series X|S?

eduscxbox

It depends on the game. Fast-paced games performance.

Games with more graphics/environmental focus or slow-paced games I play on quality.

But anyway if a game don't offer 60fps performance it doesn't bother me too much. I prefer play in 60 or better but it won't stop me from playing.

Finished both Cyberpunk 2077 (Series S) and Redfall (Series X) on 30fps modes at launch time.
