So…how much does MS take from each game sold on the XBox?

I think that’s a relevant fact to consider. I genuinely don’t know the answer, but if it approaches 30%…MS has no leg to stand on.

@Tyrant_T103 That’s for the S, and people knew going in the S was lower power and wouldn’t give the same experience as the X would.

Finally played the original Halo game via the MC collection on my series X.

Holy damn I hate driving the Warthog. I failed that last escape five times. Damn thing steers like a whale, and I fully admit I may be doing it wrong.

@jikflet Pretty much the reason I don’t care about this release. How hard is it to just…put the series X game on a disc?

I look forward to playing this on PS5 next year!

I was today years old when I heard this game existed. I…guess the anticipation level is high for others? That said, hope it’s good!

@Darude84 I picked up Cult of the Lamb on disc for $10 clearance at Walmart a few months ago and I enjoyed the heck out of it! Cosmic horror with cute animals is a surprisingly excellent genre!

@Lup Fair! I got it on sale for PS a while back and while it is a VERY GOOD GAME, I just couldn’t get deeply into it. But FF14/movie marathons were also distracting me from it.

Since it offers cross-saves, I do plan on picking it up for my series X as well down the road and playing with friends on both platforms. glares at Larian for not implementing cross-play yet

@jesse_dylan The physical copies sold out immediately during the first run. They wouldn’t be doing a reprint if it weren’t selling well in general. Adding XBox would probably be a drop in the bucket.

That said…it would make the XBox the only console to be able to play ALL the mainline non-MMORPG FF games minus FF16. That would be kinda cool, since FF13 and the other 13 sequels are locked to PS3 only.

...nah. The PS5 and Switch or Series X and Switch combos are a much better investment. Or wait for the Switch 2 assuming its fully backward compatible with Switch games.

@anoyonmus I’m happy with my combo! My PS5 lives in a nice stand under my TV, along with my series X, Switch, and 4k blu ray player.

I’ve considered wall mounting my living room tv, but nah. I’m not that minimalist.

Hopefully they’ve learned from AW2 and will actually kick out a physical release at launch.

This is why a PS and Switch pairing is pretty much the best gaming combo currently. I say this as someone who owns both a PS4 and 5, Switch and Series X.

If you have an XBox only…snag a Switch. You won’t regret it, especially in situations like this.

I mean…at this current time, they aren’t wrong.

Before anyone starts in, I DO own a series X, and I’ve bought 31 disc games and seven digital ones in the few months I’ve had it.

That said…unless you NEED Forza, Halo, Starfield, or a few of the other exclusives, or you’re a Gamepass devotee…their statement is sadly not incorrect, just rather more blunt than most devs would allow.

My opinion is also coming from someone who is now the happy owner of Forza Horizon 4/5 Ultimate editions as well as a used disc copy of Horizon 3, btw! I’m genuinely sad I slept on these games just because of my younger self’s hatred of MS!

It amuses me that a WoW expansion is being touted as an XBox game.

Guess my Series X will be my first and last XBox, whether I want it to be or not.

Meanwhile, my Switch 2 and PS6 are sure purchases.

@Sifi Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure the number of current-gen console exclusives available for PS5 is larger than the current-gen console exclusives for XBox.

That isn't even the topic being discussed, anyway.

Yeah, TOTALLY don’t see how anyone could be confused by that utterly consistent and logical naming scheme…

Picked up Horizon 4 ultimate because I just discovered the series and am having a blast with it. Even picked up Horizon 3 on disc this weekend and 5 Ultimate via a heavily discounted game card so I could have ALL DA RACING.

That said, also picked up Dragon Age 1&2 so I could enjoy them via BC since my PS3 copies (and my PS3) are currently in boxes. Might get Sleeping Dogs and the Prototype Biohazard bundle as well.

Edit: Good correction, but Microsoft isn’t responsible for what a company ports to its platform. Still just SNK’s deal.

@DTfearTheBEARD I’ve bought some physical games since getting my series X a few months ago. Mostly used, with Cyberpunk (the whole game including Phantom Liberty on disc! Yes, please!) and a couple others as exceptions.

Anything I truly care about gets bought on PS4/5 or Switch though. Smart Delivery is a wonderful idea in theory, but for a physical media fan who wants the game they’re buying for their chosen console…not so much.

@DTfearTheBEARD And those platforms’ physical releases are actually useful instead of requiring smart delivery to get the version your console needs.

I love buying the disc version of, say, Like a Dragon Ishin! and being forced to download the entire series X version. At least on PS5 if I buy a PS4 disc I can CHOOSE to play the PS4 version natively and not redownload the whole game.

@Xbox_Dashboard I was responding to your general assertion that the need for parity between the S and X is somehow causing issues like this, when it clearly isn’t simply from a CPU power perspective, not the MT framework issue.

@Nic-Noc20th-C Wii U and Virtual Boy. Those are the only two console failures they’ve had.

One could also argue the Game Boy Micro, but it was just a tiny GBA so eh, don’t really count it as a separate platform.

I dislike MS strongly, but let’s not be inaccurate here.

Maybe they should have lowered the ActiBlizz purchase price and threw a few more million towards…I dunno…advertising or making some more compelling exclusive games that might drive sales.

@Tasuki I picked up the ultimate Horizon 5 this weekend as well, via a nice cheap game code. But 4 has been the one I’ve been playing via gamepass and now via ownership the last few days when I’m not playing FF14 on my PS5.

Kinda tempted to see if I can find disc copies of 1-3 now…

Ultimate edition purchased!

As a newer XBox owner, I’m VERY pleasantly surprised at how dang good this game is.
