Re: Xbox Fans Urged To Remain Calm As Emotions Run Wild On Social Media

Thrussted

I own all consoles. So if I see a game I like, I can play it. If everything were to release on one console however, there would be no need for competition, or spend billions in R&D.

For me: perfect, I got everything on one console which makes it cheaper. For the companies involved: not so great. I do not see Xbox imploding. What I do think is that we'll get timed-exclusives launching on GP, then jumping platforms. It's smart from a business standpoint. Not so great from a brand/fan standpoint. All I hope is that they're not even more investing into cloud since I really dislike cloudgaming. (Lag related, personal)

Re: Gallery: Here's A Look At New 4K Screenshots For Obsidian's Avowed

@Arxagelos CRPGs mean Computer RPGs, but mostly refer to games like Baldurs Gate 3, Fallout 1 and 2, Pillars of Eternity. This is a western RPG, with emphasis on NPC interaction, so I beg to differ about janky visuals.

Everyone was bitching about Starfield, but this ***** is ok? Unbelievable. Makes Starfield GOTY.

Calling it, just like I called Redfall, this game is going to flop (though not on a degree as Redfall but still). They have a lot of polish to do on animations, combat (not visceral enough, ie. cuts or bruises on enemies, bloodsplatters on the ground, weight of weapons, ...), the FOV was weird as hell, like somekind of VR game. I mean story could be good. Still Obsidian. But nothing was groundbreaking, impressive or interesting to me.

They way one of those devs described a simple choice & consequence in a 'post-Baldurs Gate 3' world is baffling to me. For me, these choice & consequences should be standard almost in a western RPG (not necessarily on a scale of BG3, but still).

Re: South Park: Snow Day! Launches On Xbox Series X|S March 2024

Thrussted

Looks dead on arrival to me. Maybe fun for the first couple of days, and then to 100 people playing it within a week. Meanwhile, still playing Stick of Truth and Fractured but Whole.

Also getting rather sick of the plastic 3D visuals from THQ. South Park is meant to be played with the cartoon visuals.

Re: The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum Is Getting Dreadful Reviews At Launch

Thrussted

Hardly a surprise right? Everyone who can see and watched the trailer saw that it looked awful. I will not comment on the story, but from a gameplay and a visual standpoint, it looks outdated and just a mess of a game.

Also, why the hell Daedalic Entertainment? Surely there are better and more known studios that this to give the rights to make a Lord of the Rings game? And let's not forget parent company Nacon that hasen't had the best track record with releasing games, like the recent Blood Bowl 3.

As much as I love LotR, I will not waste my money to these spineless cashgrabs.

Re: Roundup: Here's What The Critics Think Of Redfall On Xbox Game Pass

Thrussted

I said this months ago: this 4-player genre is so niche, it must be executed to perfection. But live service games "get better over time", or so they say. Read: you get an incomplete product. And it shows.

Boring combat, same old loot, dumb AI, a stupid stealth system, cutscenes that are just pictures with narration (no immersion), console copies that play at 30fps, and while I've played it on PC with my new RTX4070, I can confirm it stutters and fps drops to a point you can't even look around in the distance. Like I said MONTHS ago: Dead on arrival.

Re: UK CMA Documents Reveal Six Companies In Favour Of Xbox ActiBlizz Acquisition

Participant C sounds like Gabe Newell. He also said something among those lines:

"Microsoft offered and even sent us a draft agreement for a long-term Call of Duty commitment but it wasn’t necessary for us because a) we’re not believers in requiring any partner to have an agreement that locks them to shipping games on Steam into the distant future b) Phil and the games team at Microsoft have always followed through on what they told us they would do so we trust their intentions and c) we think Microsoft has all the motivation they need to be on the platforms and devices where Call of Duty customers want to be."

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Devs 'Aren't Playing The Exclusivity Game' With PlayStation

Thrussted

Didn't Microsoft say the ratio is 70-30 for Sony? From a business standpoint, releasing it first to the biggest potential customerbase is realistic. That being said, I do believe a Xbox release will be there at launch.

Do not forget: they are still an indie studio, who have a big contract to fulfill. This is not a big company like EA or Bethesda we're talking about with unlimited funding.

Re: Xbox Game Pass Shooter 'Back 4 Blood' Has Officially Ended Development

Thrussted

@Clankylad oh don't get me wrong, I'm not basing my belief on this game in particular. I'm basing it on all the previous games that came before it. Anthem, Evolve, GTFO, Aliens Fireteam, the recent Warhammer game. Were they fun? Sure, some of them. Were they games that we still talk and think about? No. Not at all.

It's a genre that's really niche, and you MUST have a real strong product to keep your consumers attached to you. And that's what I believe. The people will get bored and leave, before the game gets real good with patches and updates. Just like every other game before it.

Re: Talking Point: Are Games Announced Too Far In Advance?

Thrussted

I voted for the six month window, but with a huge asterisk.

Six months before launch is a great moment to show off story, gameplay, mechanics, vibe. I'm not a market person, but I for one tend to pay more attention to things the closer to date it gets, wether it's about games or life stuff.

That being said, I do like a dry announcement like Elder Scrolls 6 did. Just a big banner saying, "Yes, we're doing this, you'll hear from us when we get there."

Remember how everyone got mad at Blizzard for not telling us if they were working on Diablo 4? We all knew, but they didn't say it. Did they have to make a cinematic about it? No, that's just bonus.

I guess what I'm saying is, say what's going on with your company/IP without putting dates or revealing mechanics.

Re: Launching On Xbox Game Pass Is 'Scary', Says Redfall Dev Arkane

Thrussted

I don't get why there's so much hype for this game. From what I've seen, it's a 4-player co-op, probably with gear and whatnot so you can do the same thing at a higher level. After that, it's probably more of the same, not in matchmaking because no comms, get frustrated, uninstall and forget 2 weeks after launch.

Also, being an adult means having responsabilities. Getting 4 adults to play the same game at the same time? Fiasco. In my book: dead on arrival.

Re: Coral Island Is Getting A Great Reception On PC Game Pass So Far

Thrussted

I've played an hour or 2 before going to work. It really is a Stardew Valley clone. The gifts, routines, crops, tools, mine (dungeon), even the evil greedy corp. It's all practically the same. If you like these kinds of games (like me), perfect.

Some of the things that are different, obviously the graphics, bugcatching, I saw diving too, probably some events that happen through the year. I'll definitely play it some more. I also realise this is Early Access, so things are bound to change/be added. It's a good start.

Re: Talking Point: Will CD Projekt Make Another 'Cyberpunk' After The Witcher 4?

Thrussted

I actually played this game on my PC, since I didn't have a console yet. It was one of those "PC master race" moments, when I saw all those bugs and loading times on consoles. I remember the most annoying stuff for me were the cops spawning in the weirdest places, but other than that, I had a great time with the game.

Don't let other people say what you should like. Bugs aside, the gameplay, world and story were excellent and I wouldn't mind a visit in another cybercity.

Re: New South Park Game Teased By THQ Nordic

Thrussted

I really hope they don't do another 3D rendition of South Park. I think the reason those RPG games were so great was because it stuck so close to the source material. I looked great, was funny and catered to gamers.

I think most people are too young to remember how bad those first games were. The Acclaim SP was and still is hot garbage, and SP Rally tried to emulate Mario Kart and failed miserably.

Do we REALLY need/want a Mario Kart in a SP skin, or do we want a SP game with SP humor with SP graphics?

Let me phrase it like this: would you rather watch a Spongebob cartoon, or watch a THQ Nordic Spongebob episode?
