Re: Shemnue 3 To Make Xbox Debut With 'Enhanced' Version For Series X|S

@johnK The Shenmue games are basically predecessors in every single way to the Yakuza franchise, and I don't mean it in a good way.

Clunky combat mechanics, boring sidequests, wooden voice acting.

You might find something you like, but you have to go with the mindset of playing a 20 year old clunky game, and that counts even for Shenmue 3.

Exclusive to Shenmue 3 is that the plot barely moved forward from 2 and left even the hardcore fans disappointed.

@Markatron84 I agree with you. I think it's a case of opinion overcorrection.

At release it was hailed as a perfect game with perfect narrative by many critics and fans.

Some internet critics noticed and started to point some of the flaws in the game logic and gameplay, calling the game repetitive, some of them even going as far as saying the story was nonsensical.

In my opinion the truth lies in the middle. It's a game that had many ambitions and it couldn't realise all of them, but it has a solid story and gameplay loop.

It also stood the test of time even in its visuals, which is not easy for a seventh gen game.
