Re: Capcom Unveils Monster Hunter Wilds Performance Details For Xbox Series X And S

JaffeGaffe

They need to start allocating more resources to performance settings. The series x could easily run this game in 4k60, as long as the devs focus more on dynamic LOD, Culling, and lower resolution shaders, disabling global illumination, lowering ray tracing or disabling it, reduced texture resolution, dynamic resolution, ALL of which RDNA 2 supports and a lot more. I'm NOT saying it's EASY, BUT that it's NECESSARY. And it's not a matter of inability (these devs know all of the above like the back of their hand), but willingness. I'm likely not playing this on consoles because they clearly don't believe tuning console games is important for their PR.

Re: Xbox Apparently Thinks Making Hellblade 2 Exclusive Was 'A Mistake'

JaffeGaffe

Totally! They actually tried to do what Playstation does, and learned how absurdly stupid it is. Playstation could be billions richer right now if they didn't keep their exclusives away from xbox players. Xbox tries it and they're like "Woh! That was the dumbest thing we've ever done. Sony is really dumb. Why were we dumb by copying the dumb thing Sony does?"

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Think Of Dragon Age: The Veilguard So Far?

JaffeGaffe

@PsBoxSwitchOwner I'm not buying that garbage! I watched my buddy play and he stopped after the umpteenth cringe trope that doesn't belong anywhere near a dark fantasy game. Game's terrible. If you're playing it solely for the combat, granted, but that's not what the majority of fans played the games for. It bombed, and the only people who could have stopped that was "Bioware", which is technically all new people. No more original artists.

Re: Path Of Exile 2's 'Early Access' Delayed For Xbox Series X|S

JaffeGaffe

@Pigrotto this one's a new format. Also the skill tree is some 1/5th or 1/10th the size of PoE1. So if you hit the ground running, you can learn "pieces" of the tree as they are added, instead of stare at the huge thing after many expansions have expanded it. As long as you don't start PoE2 7 years from now, the vanilla release skill tree shouldn't be overwhelming at all compared to the first game (as it is now with a billion expansions). It's how PoE1 started out, the tree was not this monster it is today.

Re: Path Of Exile 2's 'Early Access' Delayed For Xbox Series X|S

JaffeGaffe

There they go breaking promises again. They said many times over, all recorded on video evidence, that there would be a simultaneous release for all supported platforms. They shouldn't have repeated this so many times if there was any reasonable chance this wouldn't happen. Thank God my MSI Stealth is more powerful than the series X in every measurable way, so I'll still be able to enjoy. I just believe over-promising and under-delivering on those promises, especially with how much current gen consoles get neglected, they really were stupid. My wallet is tighter as a result. Won't be purchasing a single thing other than stash tabs.

Re: Roundup: The Reviews Are In For Dragon Age: The Veilguard

JaffeGaffe

Why didn't you cover the bigger story of the critics which provide REAL reviews getting their review codes delayed until after all these bribed mainstream got their reviews out. Watch the metacritic user score plummet after a few days. This game and everything about it's content and development is a complete joke. Bioware's been dead for a while. No more of my money is going to them.

Re: 7 Days To Die '1.0' Launches To Five-Star Xbox Reviews, Despite Series S Grumbles

JaffeGaffe

Welp....never playing this again. Myself, along with thousands of others paid into the game preview years ago. We checked for an update weekly for about 10 years. Now we gotta pay more than $30 to purchase the game AGAIN. They can't tell me that thousands of backers didn't help them create the successful game that it is today. BS. So, here's what it comes down to. You see the game for the first time in the store today: 45 bucks. You were a dedicated backer for the past 10 years, patiently waiting for the console release: you pay $65+ (30 for the beta + 35). That's really some reward for paying into the game pre-release and giving them the funds they need to make the game sellable. Yeah it's so great that I'll end up paying 65 vs the newborn who never did diddly for the game paying 45. I really hope lots of bad things fall on these guys, a remainder of their days chock full of turmoil and failure. What terrible greedy people who literally made backers pay more for the game. Never buying anything from that studio or publisher again and I will be telling everyone I know about this rip-off to the backers.....25%...what a bunch of chumps. Should have been 7t% at the lowest. I'M NOT MADE OF MONEY AND I WAIT 10 F***** YEARS! JERKS!!!!!!

Re: '7 Days To Die' Is Coming To Xbox Series X|S, Existing Xbox One Version To Be Delisted

JaffeGaffe

It's cool, it's cool....legacy owners, founders, and alpha backers will just collectively review bomb the title. Potential buyers will be deterred from purchasing and they'll lose a ton of potential sales due to their greed and betrayal. I for one was an alpha backer for....seems like more than a decade, patiently waiting for the full release, just to be taken out like the trash, without consideration that us old-school backers are the sole reason they even had the money to make a game to begin with. Almost all other alpha early access titles followed through on their promises. These guys will have a 2.5-star average game and people will see that and stay tf away. And for you trolls who want to bash my comment, jist remember this isn't just a crappy game...it's our money, time, and trust that was flushed down the toilet. I hope much worst happens tocthem besides bombing in the store page. The greed and ignorance deserves so much more. It's fine. It'll bomb. And I'll male sure I'm one of the first reviews visible on that store page. I'll set my watch to it. SMH. These guys are just so dumb. They deleted the entire backer population with their greed.

Re: Xbox's Hellblade 2 Is 'On Another Level' Says Digital Foundry, Despite Series S Concerns

JaffeGaffe

@BAMozzy Oh hell yeah, good reply...because you changed my mind (I'm not an UNREASONABLE troll).

I have an MSI Stealth 15 with a 3070ti, 64GB of DDR5, and a 12900H. Got it for an unbelievable deal last uear so I had to grab it instead of drain my "wallet" for a current gen system.

It's not a 3080ti desktop card, but the 8GB plus the additional cores the RTX 30 series possesses over Ampere, it's running double the load of what my GTX1080 desktop card was doing. Haven't had a hitch yet. I can play on my 4K TV on (nearly) max settings for most games and keep the frames at 60 with little (visible to the naked eye) difference compared to all ultra settings. Ray tracing seems to be handled extremely well too. I was surprised this XX70ti-tier card performs so well compared to what I expected. UE5 games run like a dream too. Cool thing, it happened to be the final and literal last minute revision of this particular laptop model. None of the PC reviewers got this setup. If you look up reviews on this model, the earlier revisions all have worse specs and fairly significant gaps in the hardware performance in one aspect or another. I really went from feeling like a cheapo to feeling satisfied after using it for several months.

If I really want to let it the thing scream, I can play on my cooling pad on the 1080p 360HZ laptop display. Aside from a fairly low resolution (I prefer 1440p on a 15 inch screen) and lack of HDR, the high frame rate and DLSS make up for that. I'm getting in the ballpark of 100 and 200 fps on my games, depending on how demanding they are. 4K is almost always 60 fps. It's super thin and lightweight, so playing on my lap isn't cumbersome. I'm extremely happy and this is my first foray into non-flagship GPUs.

I have Gamepass Ultimate and thanks to you I now know this game will be on PC! Nice! Much appreciated.

My slight counter argument though: the Navi GPU in the Series X is more than suited to get this game running at 60. My opinion on the matter is that the development cycle of implementing the dynamic culling and LOD levels to every asset to make a Performance Mode is a time consuming and difficult process. A lot of developers skip that so they can get their game launched on consoles. I still think there is a significant population of snobs that draw a line at 60 for certain AAA titles.

I appreciate the discourse, my friend.

Re: Immortals Of Aveum Dev Defiant After Launching Rare 'Independent AAA' Title

JaffeGaffe

Not a game I was interested in and the genre seemed somewhat niche. They would have had more success if their first triple-A title was of a well established genre and learned from the prior pitfalls of other well established publishers. But this game has unique gameplay, or least ground that is not well covered by many other games. They likely would have had an easier time with a different type of game in general.

Re: Blizzard Open To StarCraft Revival Under Microsoft, New Idea Requires 'Vision And Passion'

JaffeGaffe

Starcraft Galaxy MMO: The lore is there. Plenty of character class options. Don't do two sides (Alliance vs Horde) like WOW. Go nuts and do three separate campaigns: Terrans (Marine, Firebat, Ghost, Medic), Protos (Zealot, Templar, Dragoon, Dark Templar), and Zerg (Zergling, Hydralisk, Defiler, Ultralisk). Doesn't need to be those, but you get the picture. They'd easily make their money back many times over like they did with WOW. They could add all kinds of "extra" to the lore not in the original RTS games to make new classes just like WOW did. The possibilities are endless. But don't do it on the WOW engine please, that gameplay is meh AF. It needs to be next gen with more realistic movement, combat and character controls. We've wanted this for decades now. Wow's times up. Bring in Starcraft Galaxy get it tf done, jeeze.

Re: Phil Spencer Explains Why ActiBlizz Titles Aren't Expected On Xbox Game Pass Just Yet

JaffeGaffe

Answer: Because they have a track record of raking in buko bucks on their own. Furthermore, the big titles like Starfield and Forza on GP are purely to drive the subscriptions. They are considered perks/bonuses for being on Gamepass. If it weren't for the need for the largest monthly subscriber base possible, you wouldn't see a game like Starfield on there at all. Also, a lot of ActiBliz titles are mid-life and they wouldn't want to disrupt the momentum those titles have financially. Imagine of 10 million MW fans got mad because they paid 70 bucks for a game and it's suddenly on Gamepass.
