Re: Diablo 4 Could Be Shaping Up As Another 2023 GOTY Contender

If this gets game of the year something very wrong has happened with the other titles coming this year.

There are currently a lot of issues with the game as well, which are unlikely to all be sorted out by launch unless something very right happens at Blizzard. That hasn't happened in any kind of recent memory so I'm going to keep my expectations tempered there.

Re: Microsoft And Sony Fail To Make Activision Blizzard Agreement At EU Court Hearing

Very disappointing to see how the vast majority of commentators here are making Sony out to be the bad guys here. Yet the same people probably argued that Sony are prohibitive by keeping their games exclusive, yet Microsoft are here doing that exact same thing. Arguing that they are offering a ten year deal is also not a point at all. You have to be very shortsighted to not look beyond the next decade as such a big business. Look how easily Sega disappeared from the limelight.

It's really simple. Obviously, Sony are going to to try to stop the deal. What kind of company doesn't try to protect its shareholders and its own interests at heart. If you think Sony should just have rolled over and allowed this to happen you're simply living in fantasy land. That's not how the real world works.

Re: Roundup: All The Xbox Reveals From IGN Fan Fest 2023

@trev666 and as a reviewer myself at the time (I was actually close to getting a position as a UK based journalist there even) they were setting the bar in terms of presentation and delivery of content. They invested in that future too. They ran the ign insider program to generate revenue and fund big exclusives which most likely strengthened their PR with publishers and developers. It might not be what me or you might want now, but they are extremely popular with strong roots in the industry that won't be upended by some YouTube commentators memeing about yet another 7/10 or people dissatisfied with a review score they gave a particular game half a decade ago.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With February 2023's Xbox Games With Gold?

While I almost never bother with GwG, For The King is an exceptional game. I already own the game on Switch, PS and PC so it looks like I'm completing the set.

If you have any liking for a turn-based rpg/strategy tabletop style game I would give it a shot and don't be deceived by the graphics - this game provides a real challenge.

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade January's Xbox Developer Direct?

I thought the presentation of the show was dull. I was surprised by my interest for Minecraft. Redfall and Forza were obviously going to look good - but I still found the presentation of those a bit uninspired. It was more "look at our games", rather than creating a real excitement. My opinion of course, some people might prefer games aren't overhyped but it just didn't do it for me.

Re: Call Of Duty Will Be 'Restricted' On Xbox Game Pass, Confirms Microsoft

@K1LLEGAL so Sony are wrong for protecting their business? COD isn't just any game, if it was on gamepass it is obviously going to have a huge effect on console purchasing decisions as it is such a big franchise. It is going to happen eventually now which is why Microsoft have made this move. And I don't defend everything Sony does. I own a series x as well as a ps5 and a switch and I primarily game on my pc. I have game pass and ps plus and I think game pass is certainly a better value proposition than ps plus. I even recommend xbox because of it even though I slightly prefer the ps5 personally. I just think people are dramatising this far too much because of course Sony and Jim Ryan or whoever else are going to defend their business because you don't just surrender if you want to be successful. And people saying Sony are bad etc is just what Microsoft wants. Of course competition is good for the consumer. I want that too. But be prepared to see these two businesses to go blow for blow as direct competitors for a long time to come. Neither are saints or caring about the consumers. They want money.
