Re: Two Square Enix RPG Get A Surprise Release On Xbox Game Pass

You don't have to play #1 before #2 as they are mostly unrelated in story. The writing and general story is much better on the second, and the second is more balanced in several ways. The first has slightly better music (debatable for sure...). I'd recommend playing both though, as they are both great experiences. Must play games.

Re: Halo's Legendary Composer Marty O'Donnell Announces Political Career Switch

I've seen Marty labeled as Legendary in more than a few articles. Legendary in gaming music to me would be the likes of Nobuo Uematsu or Yasunori Nishiki. Outside of the Halo soundtrack has Marty done anything to gain that level of reputation? I've never truly liked the Halo soundtrack-- the main theme is decent, but the rest is bland to me. I may just have zero taste though. I'm open to being an outlier in not liking Marty's music.

Lost Odyssey is a game that will always be with me. The first few hours of the game are very text heavy, hardly any action, but from then on it becomes far more balanced. Wonderful game with an excellent story. I doubt they will ever make another one, but it's up there as one of the best 360 games for me. If it was a Final Fantasy then I would say it's in my top 3 of that series.

Great news, just a bit late. I played through the first on Game Pass and loved it. Finally almost done with #2 on the PS5. Had this come out for Xbox a few months ago I would have played it on Xbox instead. Great game though for those that haven't tried it. It takes a few hours to get going, but it's all good from there.

Re: It's Finally Here! The New Xbox Dashboard Has Arrived

Dramlin

When the Xbox 360 came out it had the sliding tabs and was quite clean. Not perfect, but it worked well. They then updated the dashboard to the more current design, and everything was still great. Every dashboard after that point got more and more ads. Towards the end of the 360 lifecycle I counted the tiles on the dashboard and there were 30 something functional tiles, and over 110 ads. I was a huge 360 fan, but it was so maddening that I ended up skipping the Xbox one for several years to get away from ads being constantly pushed. Fast forward to the late 2010's and someone at Microsoft finally figured out that ads are pushing people away. The dashboard was almost entirely clean again, and Xbox became a more consumer focused platform than the competition (except for Nintendo...). Fast forward to today and here we are again. The ad focused anti consumer strategy has started again, and Microsoft won't figure out it's a bad thing until their user base is pushed away to the competition again.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of 'Exoprimal' On Xbox Game Pass?

Dramlin

Thanks! Yep, I'll give it a go to see what else is there. I watched most of the initial cutscene and quickly decided against ever subjecting myself to that again. Every cutscene has been skipped since, but I wasn't aware of the "!"s. I'll start pushing the story along. Much appreciated!

Put two hours into it and I don't think I'll continue. It's just a pure grind fest. Keep doing the same thing over and over to level up and eventually find how YOU can do the most damage. Once you do the most damage, the next step is to find four other players that will agree on a team strategy, then continue grinding with them just as you did before.

Re: Exoprimal Is Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (July 14)

Was really looking forward to this game, enough that I logged in a few minutes after launch. It forces you to go through web forms to create a Capcom ID. After the Capcom ID is created it wants you to log into your Microsoft account to link Capcom ID to it, and that's one step too far. Immediately uninstalled the game after that. Not sure why Capcom needs to link or gain access to personal data in your Microsoft account.
