Re: Xbox Game Pass Is Getting A Major Overhaul With New Names, Games & Price Changes

Alex79uk

This is just another nail in Xbox's coffin. Nothing would drag me back to Gamepass at this point. If I was a teenager with so much more time on my hands it might appeal, but then I'd not be able to afford it. As an adult who can afford it but doesn't have the time to even complete one big game a month (more like 3 or 4 a year) it just doesn't offer value any more. I quit Gamepass two years ago and nothing about the service appeals to me now.

EDIT: Wow. I genuinely expected these comments to be full of people defending it as still good value, but no, it's just post after post of people voicing their legitimate opinion that Gamepass stinks. I am surprised and impressed.

Re: Xbox Has Begun Including Handhelds In Promotional Images

Alex79uk

@Balaam_ Nope, no four hours commute, yet my Switch gets 10x more play than my Xbox or PS5 does. A combination of work, kids, life, means most my gaming is done whilst the TV is being used or when I'm in bed before I go to sleep. A handheld Xbox would be perfect for me, I'd be all over that.

Re: Xbox's 'Biggest Content Drop In History' Sees Over 1400 Retro Games Arrive Next Week

Alex79uk

Could be interesting but they need to make sure they offer a trial, even a one day trial, so people can test the service before putting money down. There are a lot of variables here; quality of emulation, quality of streaming, quality of games etc.

EDIT: Hang on, it's $29.99 a year which equals around £22, yet the UK is still being charged £29.99 - and it's based in the UK! Rip off Britain strikes again. 🙄

Re: All Of These 60+ Games Are Included With Ubisoft Plus On Xbox

Alex79uk

I was interested, but not at that price. Perhaps I'll subscribe for a couple of months now and then to play the games I want to play, but I'll stagger it with Gamepass, no point having both subscriptions active at the same time. My main worry is that now Ubisoft+ is on Xbox, does that mean we'll never see any more Ubi games coming to Gamepass, and also does it open the door for all the other developers to follow suit? Capcom+, SquareEnix+ etc. etc

Re: Rumour: Ubisoft+ Set For April Xbox Launch, Featuring A Massive Lineup

Alex79uk

Whilst I'm sure this will be decent value depending on price and how much you want to play Ubisoft games, I am slightly worried that we might start to see dozens of different subscription service start to emerge over the next few years. Remember when it was just Netflix? Then Prime. Then Disney+, Apple TV, Paramount Plus etc. etc. etc... Are we going to see ten different games subscription services over the next decade, which each in turn devalue Gamepass as companies take their exclusives to their own service?

Re: Xbox Making Big Adjustment To Popular Microsoft Rewards Punch Card

Alex79uk

Seems to me that they've gradually been reducing the amount of points we can earn or making it more difficult. I've got almost 100k points at the moment, waiting for something to spend them on, but they've stripped out or nerfed loads of the easier ways to earn. Halved the amount of points for the Quest Completionist or whatever it's called from 1000 to 500 recently, and upped the ask for many of the other quests. Instead of, say, simply playing a game it's now always 'kill 25 enemies' or something. Getting real stingy with those points lately.

Re: Another Eight Games Will Leave Xbox Game Pass Soon (March 2023)

Alex79uk

It does seem like there's always more stuff leaving than there is being added. That's probably not really true, but that's what it feels like at a glance. Not too fussed about these, tried GotG and it bored me really, don't think I was in the mood for it but I might give it another try before it leaves. KRZ is amazing, but already got that on Switch and mobile.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Buy Less Third-Party Titles Because Of Xbox Game Pass?

Alex79uk

Totally. Nearly always wait to see if something comes to Gamepass, and if not I'll pick it up in a sale. I've bought one single game day one since getting my current Xbox - Elden Ring. Everything else has been Gamepass or an older game picked up in a sale. The only games I've paid over £20 for have been Cyberpunk, Red Dead 2 (to replay it), and the Mafia Trilogy. And they were all under £25. There's enough to play on Gamepass to never buy another game as long as you're not worried about keeping up with whatever the newest thing is.

Re: How Would You Grade The Xbox Series X|S Generation So Far?

Alex79uk

I'd say D. There have been two AAA exclusives since launch, and that's just not good enough (Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite). And whilst I'm certainly not knocking the Xbox, I definitely get my monies worth out of Gamepass and I love the console, as far as exclusives are concerned, Sony is winning so far in my view. I'd still rather play Xbox at the moment, but hopefully we start seeing the fruits of Microsoft hoovering up all those dev studios soon.

Re: 2023 Could End Up Being The Biggest Year In Xbox Game Pass History

Alex79uk

Probably Forza is my most anticipated. I haven't played a decent non-arcadey racer since Project Cars 2. I loved Horizon 5, Grid Legends and some others, but looking forward to a more realistic one now. Starfield I'm also interested in just because I love Elder Scrolls and Fallout but I just can't get as excited for space stuff. Lies Of P also looks pretty great. And if we actually ever see Silksong released, that's already going to be a 10/10 game.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With November 2022's Xbox Games With Gold?

Alex79uk

I have literally no interest in either of these games, but nobody is subscribing just for those so it really doesn't matter. There's Gamepass.

Having said that, there have been a few decent GwG recently. I was pleased with Yoku's Island Express a while back. That was my GOTY when I played it back on Switch.

It's a shame they got rid of the backwards compatible Xbox and 360 games though, I'd rather have two guaranteed backwards compatible old games per month, stuff that doesn't come up on Gamepass, than two current gen games of questionable quality.

Re: Xbox Game Pass: All Games Coming Soon In September 2022

Alex79uk

@Tangerine If anyone is interested in 12 Minutes I'd genuinely recommend playing it for an hour so you get a handle on the gameplay then just watching a YouTube walkthrough. It's an interesting idea, quite poorly implemented and not that much fun to play.

Edith Finch on the other hand is a legitimate modern masterpiece, I'd urge anyone to give it a go. It can be done in one sitting.

For me, I'm only really interested in Grid Legends so far this month, but hopefully we get some more added throughout the month.

Re: Deals: Xbox Summer Sale 2022 Now Live, 500+ Games Discounted

Alex79uk

I've been feeling like I want to play through Red Dead Redemption 2 again lately, having previously done it on PS4. I am tempted to pick it up as this seems to be the cheapest it goes for, around the £22 mark, but I guarantee the second I buy it and finish it again they'll announce a next gen patch or a remaster... Worth holding out for that? Does anyone think it's likely to be on its way?

Re: Xbox Games With Gold For April 2022 Announced

Alex79uk

Well, I mean this is laughably bad, but who really bothers with these games when Gamepass exists? There's been a few decent ones in the last few months, Radiant Silvergun for one, but on the whole these games I pretty much ignore most months. This month seems particularly poor though.

Re: Here's What GTA 5's New Version Looks Like On Xbox Series X

Alex79uk

I never bought the last gen version so looking forward to playing it again - it'll be a decent upgrade from the PS3 version for sure, and I never tried online. Pleased with the price too, I was expecting a full price release. Will be cashing in my MS reward points to grab it tomorrow!

Re: These Seven Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (March 1-10)

Alex79uk

Great month! Wanted to play Guardians since it came out, and already set FAR: Changing Tides set to download soon as its out. Cloud version of Flight Simulator is a bonus too, won't take up ~100gb on my hard drive any more... also KZR will be good, I'm about halfway through a Switch playthrough so might just start again on Xbox.

All of this is assuming I can tear myself away from Elden Ring, of course.

Re: Some Forza Fans Say They're Getting 'Bored' With Horizon 5 Already

Alex79uk

It's the first one I've played, so I'm loving it, about 40 hours in now. I do wish there was more of a sense of progression, though. It's total overkill the amount of icons appearing on the map in one go. The stories should be locked behind more progress at least, and the showcase events are just too few, I think getting to the Hall of Fame should be tougher, with greater reward, like a whole new series of events or something instead of just some more accolades.
