The folks over at Team Xbox have been making a quite a big deal of Profile Badges recently, adding new ways to view them in the latest Xbox Insider builds and even incorporating a new one for those who bought the Xbox One in 2013.

And to be honest, I've never personally paid that much attention to them until now, but a website known as "xct.live" does a nice job at not only highlighting all 88 of them, but also explaining what they mean and how rare they are.

Here's a look at the social media post that inspired this article, and then we'll break it down a bit:

Firstly, 15 out of the 88 Xbox Profile Badges are all about how much gamerscore you've earned over the years, ranging from 1,000 to 10 million. There are also 40 badges that are dedicated to how many years you've been part of Xbox Live, although many of these aren't yet achievable because Xbox hasn't even been around for 40 years!

In fact, the "40 years on Xbox Live badge" won't be obtainable until November 15th of 2042:

That leaves us with 33 more Xbox Profile Badges that all exist for different things. There are some that have been quite easily obtainable over the years, such as being part of Xbox Live Gold before it was removed, but many of the others are badges that were given to employees for working on certain projects such as consoles.

Here's an at-a-glance example of these from the website:

Ultimately, there's no way of actually getting access to all 88 Xbox Profile Badges, and some of them have actually been retired in recent years, while others are just extremely rare (such as being part of the Xbox Live team in 2002!).

By all means go and have look at each of these in detail for yourself, and it's also worth noting that Xbox Fandom has a great list of most of the Xbox Profile Badges as well, including some extra clarification on what's been retired specifically. Let us know how many you've got down in the comments below!
